Contact: Shawn Miller Brian Brown Victorious in Both 410 and 360 Sprint Car Action at Knoxville Raceway Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 6, 2020) - Brian Brown highlighted a doubleheader at Knoxville Raceway with a pair of feature triumphs last weekend when his team competed in both the 410ci and 360ci winged sprint car divisions. July 3 - Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa (410 sprint car) - Qualifying: 1; Heat race: 3 (6); Feature: 1 (1). "We were able to set quick time and I think we ran third in our heat," Brown said. "For the feature we got lucky with the draw to be on the front row. It was the same thing as the (360 feature). We ripped around there until we saw Lynton (Jeffrey). We moved down and did what we needed to do to win that one. It's awesome for our partners to be in the limelight at the end of the night." July 3 - Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa (360 sprint car) - Qualifying: 5; Heat race: 4 (5); Feature: 1 (1). "We like to run our 360 a couple of times prior to the 360 Knoxville Nationals so with Knoxville Raceway putting up the bonus for sweeping both 360 races last weekend it was a good opportunity to run the 360," Brown said. "For me, the most important thing is to stay hydrated. It's a lot of work for Chad, Nate and dad. We had Mike come along and help this weekend. Thanks for their hard work that go into running two cars, washing two cars and maintaining two cars. "We qualified pretty decent and went fifth to fourth in the heat. I was able to start on the front row and get the lead in the feature. I ran around until I saw Jamie (Ball). Then I was able to hit the bottom, run my lines and get through traffic. You don't have an opportunity at the bonus if you don't win the first one and we did that." July 4 - Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa (410 sprint car) - Qualifying: 1; Heat race: 3 (6); Feature: 2 (6). "We got into third pretty decent in the feature," Brown said. "We ran Austin (McCarl) down and then ran Justin (Henderson) down. We got into traffic and I felt like it'd play into our hands. I tried to lap a car and go off their right rear. I got over the cushion and almost crashed it and almost killed my engine. That let Kasey (Kahne) back by. At that point I figured my race would be over. We were able to have that red flag with four laps to go. I was disappointed with myself for making a mistake in the heat of the battle. I told myself either I'm going to try to win this thing or run seventh and not just settle for fourth. We were able to get by Kasey and I ran as hard as I could the last three laps. We got by Austin and then came up a nose short of winning. Congrats to Justin and his team. They are good guys and I know how hard they work." July 4 - Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa (360 sprint car) - Qualifying: 1; Heat race: 2 (6); Feature: 24 (8). "We had quick time and went sixth to second in the heat," Brown said. "With the 360 it used to be I'd run 15 or 20 360 races per year and when it'd come to the 360 Knoxville Nationals I'd have a good idea what to do. The last couple of years I've only run three or four 360 shows per year. Those cars are different to setup than the 410s. We were more in tune with what the car needed and it showed by setting quick time and going sixth to second in the heat. We got a really good start in the feature and it got called back. On the second start we got to fourth before something happened with the rear end. We're not sure what happened internally. It was unfortunate. I felt like I had a good shot at winning and getting that bonus." UP NEXT - Friday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series; Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa; and Sunday at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Ind., with the World of Outlaws "We're excited to join the World of Outlaws for a couple of races along with returning to Knoxville this weekend," Brown said. (July 6, 2020) - Next on the radar for Sides Motorsports is a tripleheader with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Team owner Jason Sides will compete on Friday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa; on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot, Wis., during the Badger 40; and on Sunday at Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, Ind. Tim Kaeding will be in a second car for the races at 34 Raceway and Wilmot Raceway. "We have a trio of sizes of tracks to go to this weekend," Sides said. "It'll be nice to get into a normal routine of racing and then traveling and racing." Sides and Kaeding both competed at Cedar Lake Speedway last weekend during the Independence Day Shootout. Sides qualified 17th quickest, placed sixth in a heat race and advanced two positions in the main event to finish 15th on Friday. He followed that up on Saturday by timing in 14th quickest, ending seventh in a heat race, placing third in the Last Chance Showdown and gaining four spots in the feature to finish 17th. Kaeding had similar results, ending Friday night 18th in the A Main and Saturday with a DNF. "Hot was the key word," Sides said. "It was so hot. We struggled all weekend. We had a few little problems, minor things that were happening. On the final night TK said it felt like it was shaking so he pulled in. For me, the last 10 laps after I got lapped I passed six or seven cars, but it doesn't show it because you're a lap down. With a full load of fuel the balance wasn't very happy, but it felt great at the end of the night. "Hopefully we can get rolling better this weekend and earn some better results." Contact: Shawn Miller Hagar Borrowing Engine From Stenhouse Jr. to Run ASCS National Tour Event at Riverside International Speedway Inside Line Promotions - MARION, Ark. (July 7, 2020) - Patience is key both on and off the track for a veteran race car driver. Derek Hagar elected to take last week off from competition in an effort to make sure his new engine is 100 percent perfect before he hits the track. "We could have rushed it, but we're putting a brand new power plant together," he said. "We decided we didn't want to miss something important and have a bigger issue. We took a step back to take the week off. Our plan was to run Saturday, but weather wasn't on our side." Hagar will borrow an engine from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to compete this Saturday during the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour event at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark. "It's been a tough year for sure with everything going on in the world," he said. "We haven't got to drive our stuff. When we get in other peoples' cars we've been contenders. We know what we're capable of. We'll have a good Dynotech engine under the hood this weekend." Hagar has enjoyed a lot of success at Riverside International Speedway, where he was last victorious in October 2017. He also scored multiple wins at the oval in 2014, 2015 and 2016. "I consider that track home," he said. "I've taken the opportunity since we haven't gotten to race to spend as much time there as I can helping with track prep and the night program whether I'm a push truck driver or whatever. I've made laps there this year, just not many in a race car." Contact: Shawn Miller Skinner Secures Pair of Top-10 Finishes During USCS Series Tripleheader Inside Line Promotions - LEXINGTON, Tenn. (July 7, 2020) - A pair of top-10 results highlighted a busy week of racing for Marshall Skinner. "Since I'm waiting for parts to repair my good motor, I'm down to a small, home-built engine that my uncle is letting me use," he said. "It runs good, but it doesn't have the power I'm used to so I'm happy with any decent finishes I get." Skinner's best run of the week was a sixth-place finish during a USCS Series show at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., last Thursday. "Fortunately, the track at Riverside blew off and was slick," he said. "That was a lot of fun since you don't need a lot of motor on a track like that. "I started second in my heat. I led most of the race until Mark Smith slid by me. I was able to slide him back and get the win." Skinner's heat race victory placed him third on the A Main starting grid. "I was actually able to get by Terry Gray, who started on the pole, at the beginning," he said. "But the fast line was against the wall and I kind of got pinned down low since I started on the inside row. I eventually got to the outside, but lost a few spots before then. Once I got to the outside, about the only one who passed me was Ricky (Stenhouse Jr.) and he passed a lot of cars." The track surfaces at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark., on Wednesday and at Lexington 104 Speedway on Friday weren't as kind to Skinner's under-powered sprint car. "Little Rock was okay, but it was like taking a knife to a gunfight," said Skinner, who transferred from the B Main to finish 17th in the main event. "The track was really heavy and there was a stellar field there. I was just happy to make the show." Similar track conditions welcomed him during a USCS Series event at Lexington 104 Speedway on Friday. "Lexington was a track where you hold it to the floor and run it against the cushion without lifting," said Skinner, who finished 10th in the A Main after starting 11th. "It was another horsepower track and I just don't have the power. My motor is mainly a get-you-in-the-show motor." Next up for Skinner will be a Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour race at Riverside International Speedway this Saturday. "I'm hoping the track will blow off again so that I can be competitive," he said. (July 7, 2020) - Danny Sams III is slated to run the longest stretch of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action beginning this Saturday at Riverside International Speedway. The series visits the bullring in West Memphis, Ark., marking the first of five straight weekends with at least one currently scheduled race. It will also be the sixth time the Sams LaMountain Racing driver has competed at the oval, where he last raced in October 2017. "It's a unique place and it's fun," he said. "We've been going to so many tracks for the first time this year it will be nice to return somewhere we have laps. Racing on small tracks makes it more racy and about the driver. When you get it right you definitely get it right. If we can get it right I'm going to really enjoy it." Sams III was in contention to win a race at the oval in 2016. "I led almost the whole race when I was 14-years-old before me and Sammy Swindell got together with three laps to go," he said. "A couple of other times we've been there we either got caught up in a wreck or didn't run well." The team's best result at the track is a 19th-place finish. "Hopefully we can get off to a strong start in our heat race and can set ourselves up for success," Sams III said. He enters the race ranked 15th in the championship standings - only 46 points out of the top 10. Contact: Shawn Miller Crockett Scores Best 410 Result at Knoxville Raceway in Nearly Seven Years Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 7, 2020) - Roger Crockett posted his best 410ci winged sprint car feature finish at Knoxville Raceway since August 2013 last Friday. Crockett ventured to 'The Sprint Car Capital of the World' for a rare doubleheader in the division. "It was up and down," he said. "Our motor runs really good. We had good speed at times. We tried different things and we learned a lot." The weekend began on Friday when Crockett was fast from the time he unloaded. "We were fastest in our group of hot laps and ended up fourth overall," he said. "That doesn't mean much, but it was satisfying for the amount of laps we have there. In qualifying we missed a little in one corner. Everybody is so close in qualifying. One tenth of a second was the difference of being seventh quickest." Crockett qualified 14th quickest and he won a heat race to lock into the 11th starting position for the main event. "We ran inside the top 10 most of the race and were battling with the seventh and eighth-place cars," he said. "On the last restart with three laps to go, I knew better, but I followed somebody and they got fouled up. I got caught behind them and we lost a couple of spots." Crockett finished 12th, which was his best outing in nearly seven years during select starts at the half-mile oval. "We were somewhat happy because I feel like our car was good enough to run in the top five," he said. "That was encouraging. "On Saturday we tried some little different things with gearing and stuff. Our car felt pretty good in qualifying, but the couple things we tried hurt our speed a little bit and again about one tenth would have put us in the top 10." Crockett kicked off Saturday's show by timing in 14th quickest. He won a heat race for the second straight night to garner the 11 th starting position for the A Main. "In the heat race we changed just a couple little things and we were perfect," he said. "(Davey) Heskin got the jump on us and got away from us. We reeled him in, got by him and pulled away. We were really, really good. I was pretty happy and thought I found something. We changed nothing for the feature. We started in the sixth row and didn't get a good start and just didn't go anywhere. It didn't feel horrible, but we didn't have any speed. It was a good learning experience because the track slowed down a lot. We didn't make enough changes to accommodate the speed change in the track." Crockett will resume Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action this Saturday when he visits Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., for the first time since his debut in June 2005. He placed fifth during that race. "I remember it being dry at one end and really wet at the other end of the track," he said. "I remember it being kind of tricky."
