Mark Burch Motorsports and Lasoski Produce Trio of Top 10s

Inside Line Promotions - WEST BURLINGTON, Iowa (June 12, 2017) - Mark Burch Motorsports more than doubled its number of races competed in last weekend when the team tackled four events at three tracks in Wisconsin and Iowa.

The competition began on Thursday at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., where Danny Lasoski qualified sixth quickest to open the IRA Series event. He then advanced from third to second place in a heat race to make the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 8 to start the main event on the outside of the fourth row.

Lasoski picked up a trio of positions to post a fifth-place result, which was the second top five of the season for the team.

"We went there to win and aren't happy with a fifth, but we'll take it," he said. "Angell Park is a really neat little track. They farmed it right before we went out and we just missed it with the setup. We were way too loose and not as good as we needed to be to contend for the win."

Mark Burch Motorsports ventured to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, on Friday for the first night of the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series doubleheader. Lasoski qualified ninth quickest in his group before he advanced from fifth to fourth place in a heat race to lock into the 14 th starting position in the main event.

"When they waved the green flag I knew we'd be in trouble because the car was a handful," he said. "Sometimes in racing you have to say it isn't your night and pull in early. That's what we did since we knew we weren't going to race for the win and didn't want to risk tearing up any equipment."

The team, which was credited with a 24th-place finish, returned to the half-mile oval on Saturday. The first half of the night was identical to Friday as Lasoski qualified ninth quickest in his group and picked up a position to finish fourth in a heat race. This time he started the main event on the inside of the seventh row.

"We got going really good," he said. "I think we made it to sixth and on a restart we cut a right rear tire. I lost three spots, but we were able to hang on and salvage a top 10."

Lasoski managed a ninth-place result.

The weekend wrapped up on Sunday at 34 Raceway with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. Lasoski timed in third quickest in his group, won a heat race and placed fifth in a dash to start the main event 10 th.

"Mark gave me a good car and we were up there battling for third, fourth and fifth," he said. "I lost a spot with about two laps to go to end sixth. It wasn't the result we were aiming for, but to end the weekend with our third top 10 is something we can build on."

Bruce Jr. Scores Top Five at Valley Speedway and Top 10 at U.S. 36 Raceway

Inside Line Promotions - GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (June 12, 2017) - Tony Bruce Jr. earned a pair of strong results last weekend during ASCS Warrior Region competition.

Bruce Jr. guided the Smith Racing No. 86 team to a seventh-place result at U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo., on Friday before posting a fourth-place finish the following night at Valley Speedway.

The action began last Friday at U.S. 36 Raceway, where Bruce Jr. placed fifth in a heat race.

"I messed up in the heat on the last lap and jumped the cushion and lost a position," he said. "That cost me two or three rows for a starting position in the A Main."

Bruce Jr. lined up on the inside of the eighth row for the main event. However, he charged forward to score a seventh-place finish during a race that didn't have a caution.

"We started further back than we wanted to," he said. "We had a good car and just ran out of laps. We didn't have a caution and really needed one or two. It's a shame we had to start so far back and didn't get any cautions because I think our car was capable of contending for a win."

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Valley Speedway, where Bruce Jr. advanced from fourth to third place in a heat race. That was one position shy of making the feature redraw and started Bruce Jr. ninth in the main event.

"I think we had a shot to contend for the win, but we missed the setup," he said. "The car was way too loose. We were a fourth-place car and that's about all we could do. I tried everything on the race track I could do. We had no forward grip, especially down the straightaways."

The fourth-place result gives the team four top 10s in five races this season.

"I feel like we're going in the right direction," he said. "That was only our fifth race of the season. The biggest thing for us is that we're just now getting started. I'm looking forward to racing a lot this week."

Bruce Jr. will tackle the second half of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek with races this Wednesday at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Okla.; Thursday at Creek County Speedway in Sapulpa, Okla.; Friday at Randolph County Raceway in Moberly, Mo.; and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

QUICK RESULTS -

June 9 - U.S. 36 Raceway in Osborn, Mo. - Heat race: 5 (4); Feature: 7 (15).

June 10 - Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo. - Heat race: 3 (4); Feature: 4 (9).

Swindell Claims Victory for 47th Straight Season

Inside Line Promotions - WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (June 13, 2017) - Sammy Swindell captured his first feature victory of the season last Friday during an ASCS Mid-South Region race at Batesville Motor Speedway in Batesville, Ark.

The trip to Victory Lane makes it 47 straight seasons that Swindell has recorded a win.

"I'm not sure that anyone else has done that," he said. "It's pretty remarkable to be able do to it that long. I never expected when I started to be doing this at this age. My dad decided to quit in his 40s. We've passed that by over 20 years. Part of it is my health and desire is still there so that makes a difference."

Swindell and car owner A.G. Rains opened the night by advancing from fifth to third place in a heat race. The team then charged from sixth to win a qualifier, which ranked second in overall points and lined Swindell up on the outside of the front row for the main event.

"The polesitter took the lead and went straight to the top," he said. "I thought I'll go to the bottom. I thought it looked pretty good. It was pretty wet, but all the stock cars ran it in before us. I ran a few laps down there and thought I'd try the top. I didn't think it was as fast. I went back down there except going through the traffic. For having a few cars there was a lot of traffic.

"I expected (a win) to be coming at some point. We've had a lot of things happen this year that's been out of our control. It's tough sometimes with the ASCS format. Sometimes you can get buried and it's hard to recover. It's not like being with the Outlaws or All Stars where you can qualify and if you run well all night it'll pay dividends. That's the first time we've started on the front row this year."

Swindell led the distance to net the victory.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Riverside International Speedway, where Swindell won an ASCS Mid-South Region heat race to lock into the feature redraw. He pulled the No. 5 during the random draw to start the main event on the inside of the third row.

"The track was really tough," he said. "It was dusty and slick and we ran right around the bottom. I never made a lap before we got ran over. We were on the bottom and went into turn three and the guys behind us came running into us. Some guy smashed the back of the car and kept ramming me. It run me into an infield tire and bent the front axle. We restarted, but I could tell there were some things wrong. Then I went to pass a guy and he turned into me and spun me around."

Swindell ended 15th.

The team is scheduled to return to Riverside International Speedway this Saturday for the Hooker Hood Classic.

Skinner Posts Top Five During ASCS Mid-South Show at Riverside International Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. (June 13, 2017) - Marshall Skinner has momentum on his side as he enters a big race this weekend.

Skinner scored a fifth-place result at Riverside International Speedway last Saturday during an ASCS Mid-South Region event and he'll return to the bullring this Saturday for the Hooker Hood Classic.

"I actually raced with Hooker when I first started," he said. "Him and my uncle were fierce competitors. I really want to win that race. The fact that I grew up watching Hooker and me and Stormi (Hood) are friends … I just want to win that race. I led it down to the very end a few years ago and got passed at the end. It'd be a special one to win."

Skinner is riding a wave of momentum thanks to a pair of USCS Series Speedweek wins and another strong result last Saturday, when Skinner wasn't originally planning to compete.

"I was at a wedding and we were going to take the night off, but it worked out that a crew guy was able to take the car over and set everything up," he said. "I missed hot laps, but got there in time to put heat in the engine."

Skinner then won a heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That locked him into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 3 to start the main event third.

"I was way too tight in the feature," he said. "I fell to ninth and got back up to fifth. I was kind of disappointed when I fell back because at home I expect to win. I've raced here my whole life, but I'm not the only who expects that. When you're up there beating doors with Tim Crawley, Gary Taylor and all them, those guys are on their game all the time, too.

"As soon as the feature was over I checked the right rear (tire). We only had about four pounds. I felt like it was flat. I don't know what happened, but on the first caution after we took back off we were tight. From about Lap 4 to Lap 25 I was real tight. That last 10 laps or so went without a caution so to only come in with a few pounds, I'd hate to know what it was down to before that."

The fifth-place result was Skinner's eighth top five of the season.

"Brenda and Ricky Ransome, who own the business, sponsored Little Ricky (Stenhouse Jr.) when he first started racing a sprint car," Skinner said. "We were at a race and he had crashed. They were hollering for us to be in the staging lanes. I was on the front row, but I was trying to help them get their car fixed to get in the race. They came over after the race and thanked me for helping get his car together when I should have been concentrating on my own car. We built a friendship off that. That was back in about 2004. They've stuck with me since through thick and thin."
