All Star Champ Reutzel Ready to Storm the Port after Trophy Cup Run Last Weekend

Lonnie Wheatley, CLUTE, Texas (October 25, 2018) – Aaron Reutzel and the Baughman-Reutzel Motorsports No. 87 Sprint Car team are set to be back in action this weekend with a pair of World of Outlaws events at Port Royal Speedway in central Pennsylvania.

The weekend is slated to begin with an $8,000-to-win tilt on Friday before culminating with Saturday night’s $51,000-to-win Tuscarora 50 atop the ½-mile clay oval.

Reutzel has found good speed aboard the BRM No. 87 Folkens Brothers Trucking/Dissolvalloy Downhole Revolution Triple-X team each time out at Port Royal with a Labor Day weekend win among a pair of podium finishes.

Following this weekend’s Port Royal double, Reutzel and the Precision Catalyst/Hollywood Blasting & Coating/Beard Equipment team will finish off a successful first season as a new team with the World of Outlaws season-ending “World Finals” at The Dirt Track at Charlotte next weekend, November 1-3.

Reutzel and the Nattress Construction/Momentum Racing Suspensions recently put the finishing touches on the 2018 All Star Circuit of Champions title.

Reutzel returns to Posse territory this weekend after taking to the left coast last weekend for the 25th Annual Trophy Cup at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway.

Taking the wheel of Willie Kahne’s No. 51 Sprint Car, the duo overcame early struggles to become among the fastest of the near 90-car field by the end of the weekend.  A tangle in traffic denied a feature win in the Saturday night finale.

“We started off a little rough,” Reutzel said of the Thursday opener.  “The car was different than what I’m used to, and I drive different than what Willie is used to.  It took a little time to get used to each other.”

After missing the feature cut the first night, Willie Kahne went to work on the car.

“We just couldn’t get rolling the first night,” Reutzel recalls.  “Willie is great at what he does, and the second night we were 90% better.  Then it was me making mistakes on Friday night.”

The improvements were evident with a heat race win to secure a feature starting position before finishing out the night in 16th.

With more time to make adjustments, the duo of Reutzel and Kahne found the speed they were looking for on Saturday.

“We were bad fast on Saturday,” Reutzel says.  “If we had unloaded on Thursday with what we had on Saturday, we probably would have been able to win it all.  Willie changed everything under the sun over the weekend.”

Racing his way into the feature, Reutzel led the way from the pole position until a tangle with a lapped car brought his Trophy Cup to an end.

“I kept waiting for the leader to make a mistake, he finally did and then we had about four lapped cars between us,” Reutzel explains.  “A car got out of shape in front of us, I lifted to miss him and the right front got into the wall and ended our night.”

With a typically adventurous Trophy Cup in the books, Reutzel and the BRM No. 87 team vie for Saturday’s $51,000 winner’s share at Port Royal Speedway.

2018 Quick Stats:  72 races, 11 wins, 27 top-fives, 39 top-tens.

Carney to Creek County for “Fall Fling” after Racing into First STN Championship Feature

Lonnie Wheatley, EL PASO, Texas (October 25, 2018) – El Paso native John Carney II is set to finish out the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour portion of the 2018 season with this weekend’s “Fall Fling” at Creek County Speedway near Sapulpa, OK.

The event atop the ¼-mile clay oval takes place over the course of two nights on Friday and Saturday.

It marks Carney’s second visit to the cozy Creek County confines after posting a 12th-place run in June aboard his No. J2 entry en route to top ten finish in ASCS Speedweek points.

It is Carney’s first action since kicking off the month of October with a strong run at I-30 Speedway’s prestigious Short Track Nationals in Little Rock, AR.

Carney’s STN weekend resulted in his first time to race into the Saturday night championship feature event on October 6.

“It was pretty good actually,” Carney said of the Little Rock weekend.  “I felt like we had good speed all weekend, it’s good to be able to make that show.”

Carney kicked off the weekend in contention for a heat race win on Friday night before an incident sent him to the tail.  Carney bounced back to finish fifth but was still relegated to “C” Main action.

“I made one little mistake and that set us back,” Carney explains.

Carney raced to a convincing “C” Main win and then rallied through his “B” Main from 12th to finish sixth, just three positions short of a transfer.

Carney opened Saturday’s STN championship night with a heat race win and then posted a fifth-place qualifying race finish.  Carney then raced his way into his first STN championship feature with an aggressive move midway through “B” Main competition that secured a second-place transfer position.

Gridding the $10,000-to-win, 40-lap STN finale in 15th, Carney ultimately took the checkered flag in 13th.

“It was a good weekend, no complaints,” Carney concludes.

Carney will be looking for victory lane with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at this weekend’s “Fall Fling”.

McIntosh Takes in Midget Portion of “Fall Fling” this Weekend

Lonnie Wheatley, BIXBY, Okla. (October 25, 2018) – After an Illinois weekend, Cannon McIntosh races close to home this weekend with the POWRi West Midget portion of Creek County Speedway’s “Fall Fling” in Sapulpa, OK, this Friday and Saturday.

McIntosh enters the event among the top ten in both POWRi West overall points and Sooner Series points despite missing several events along the way.

McIntosh has picked up four top-five runs in POWRi West action this season aboard the RL Hudson/Toyota-TRD No. 08 Midget including a feature win at Oklahoma City’s I-44 Riverside Speedway in July.

This weekend’s “Fall Fling” will mark McIntosh’s first Midget action atop the ¼-mile Creek County Speedway after making a Sprint Car start at the cozy oval earlier in the season.

McIntosh enters the weekend after taking in a pair of POWRi National events and the USAC-sanctioned “Jason Leffler Memorial” in Illinois last weekend.

“It had its ups and downs,” McIntosh said of the Illinois triple.

McIntosh broke out of the gates quickly by earning the night’s most passing points to earn the pole position for Friday night’s feature at Jacksonville Speedway.  An incident limited him to a 14th-place finish in the feature.

“We got in a wreck in the feature, it was an up and down night,” McIntosh says.

Action moved on to Marion’s Southern Illinois Raceway on Friday night.  “We gained a couple of spots in the heat race, but then we tore off a brake line in the feature,” McIntosh explains.

The team rounded out the weekend with the “Jason Leffler Memorial” at Wayne City’s Wayne County Speedway.  “We just weren’t on our game and didn’t make the show,” McIntosh says.

McIntosh looks to finish out the Sooner Series portion of the POWRi West Midget League in strong form with this weekend’s “Fall Fling” at Creek County Speedway before the POWRi season finale at Kennedale Speedway Park in Kennedale, TX, on November 9-10.

Along with RL Hudson and Toyota-TRD, other marketing partners making the ambitious 2018 slate of events possible includes American Discount, Complete Auto Care, Best Graphics, Fieldhouse Gear, Precision Inspection, Sanders and Associates, Panels by Smoke, Walker Performance, Sanders Wheels, American Discount Brake and Muffler, D&N Fabrication and Car and Fleet.

2018 Quick Stats:  33 races, 1 win, 5 top-fives, 12 top-tens.
