Rhett Carter Streaks to Showdown in Savannah $5,000 Payday
$5,000-To-Win, Early Bird 50 Up Next at Needmore Speedway

Blackshear, Georgia (11/12/18) – Rhett Carter streaked to the $5,000 victory on Saturday night at Oglethorpe Speedway during the finale for the Showdown in Savannah. The victory came aboard Carter’s Continental Tire #44 Swamp Fox Insurance Agency/ XR1 Rocket Chassis / Wildcat Performance Engines Late Model and marked his seventh of the 2018 campaign.

“We had to start further back in the field than I would’ve liked in both features, but we showed a lot of speed in both races. In Saturday night’s big event I had a really good racecar and was able to get to the front in a hurry,” Carter noted. “There’s some big money races coming up in this area over the next few weeks, and it feels good to head into them with momentum in our corner.”

On Friday night Rhett Carter visited Oglethorpe Speedway Park (Savannah, Georgia), competing in a field of 31 Crate Late Models for the opening round of the Showdown in the Savannah. After laying down the fourth-fastest time overall in qualifying, Carter scored a third-place finish in his heat race, which locked him into the opening night feature.

With Mother Nature postponing Friday’s A-Main to Saturday morning, Rhett improved 12 spots in the event to register a seventh-place finish.

Starting Saturday night’s feature in the ninth position, Rhett overtook the leader on lap 16 and held the top spot for the remaining 34 circuits to pick up his seventh win of the season and a $5,000 payday.

The victory also marked the 75th Late Model win of his young career.

“Thanks goes out to Brian Green and Kevin Lee for their hard work this weekend,” Carter continued. “We hung the door from my car in the pub to commemorate my 75th- career late model win. A lot of people have helped me along the way, and I greatly appreciate everyone that has been with me.

Oklahoma Racer Tops 200 Plus Competitors for $7,777.77 Payday

Westville, Oklahoma (11/12/18) – Jason Hughes added another coveted win to his resume on Saturday night. For his efforts, he was rewarded with a $7,777.77 victory during the 21st annual Duel in the Desert at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

"We had a really good car every night," Hughes said. "Luck was on our side down here in Vegas with the draw, but you've got to have the car to back it up and finish the job. I wasn't even planning on coming out here because I didn't want to make the drive, but I'm really glad we did."

Thursday night found Jason Hughes in action at the Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway (Las Vegas, Nevada), during the opening round of the 21st annual Duel in the Desert. With a stout field of 207 IMCA Modifieds on hand for the three-day event, Jason started the night with a heat race victory, positioning him on the pole for the preliminary feature.

Leading wire-to-wire, Jason Hughes topped Tom Berry Jr., Peyton Taylor, R.C. Whitwell, and Cody Laney at the line to pick up his third win of the season.

With his spot already locked into the Saturday’s finale, Hughes sat out Friday’s program to prepare for the main event. Starting on the pole for the coveted finale, Jason held off third-starting Ricky Alvarado in the 40-lap feature to reel in his fourth win of the season and a $7,777.77 payday. Alvarado, Ricky Thornton Jr., Shane DeVolder, and Peyton Taylor trailed him to the checkers.

“It’s really awesome to get a win in such a massive event,” Hughes commented. “Not many events see over 200 guys battling for the win, so to be the one who comes out on top is really special to my team and I.”
