VP NATIONALS AT TST CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND FOR CHEVY SUPER SERIES

            CARTERSVILLE, GA – The VP Nationals at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL this Friday night and Saturday night will be the 2018 Championship Weekend for the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series. There will be three main events over the two-day event with all three races awarding full points.
           
            On Friday night, the Chevy Super Series competitors will race in Twin 20-lap main events with each race paying $1,000-to-win. On Saturday night, the 2018 Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series season finale will be contested for 50 laps and paying $3,000-to-win. 
           
            A total of 300 points will be up for grabs, which means there are 13 drivers still with a mathematical chance of winning the 2018 Chevy Super Series National Championship. Just 68 points separate the top five in the point standings going into the VP Nationals. Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN leads the standings with 672 points.
           
            Johnson is looking for his third Chevrolet Performance Cup to go with Chevy Super Series National Championships in 2014 and 2015. The National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Inductee has two wins, and seven top five finishes in seven races this season that include two second-place finishes, two third-place finishes, and one fourth-place finish.
           
            Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is second in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series standings with 656 points, 16 points behind Johnson. In seven races, Knowles has one win, and seven top five finishes that include two second-place finishes, one third-place finish, and three fifth-place finishes.
           
            Just two points separate the next three drivers in the Chevy Super Series standings. Chase King of Seymour, TN is third with 606 points after two top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven races. King also leads the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings. Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is tied for the fourth spot with Zach Pilcher of Rome, GA.
           
            Skinner and Pilcher each have 604 points, and Skinner is second in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings. Pilcher has five top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven races. Skinner has two top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven races.
           
            Joseph Brown of Columbus, GA is sixth in the Chevy Super Series standings with 584 points after two top five finishes and five top ten finishes in seven races. Brown is third in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings. Landon Bagby of Winston, GA is seventh with 578 points after one top five finish and six top ten finishes in seven races. 
           
            Dale Thurman of Cartersville, GA is eighth in the Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series standings with 544 points. Thurman has one top five finish and three top ten finishes in seven races. Chad Wallace of LaGrange, GA is ninth with 532 points after two top ten finishes in seven races, and Chip Brindle of Chatsworth, GA rounds out the top ten with 494 points after one top five finish and four top ten finishes in six races.
           
            Other top Chevy Super Series drivers expected include Oliver Gentry of Newnan, GA, Scott Hall of Rome, GA, Dalton Polston of Lithia Springs, GA, Buster Goss of Rome, GA and Michael Page of Douglasville, GA. Page won the last three Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series races over Labor Day Weekend.
           
            The Chevy Super Series race cars are powered by all-aluminum Chevrolet Performance CT525 Circle Track Engines that are priced at under $10,000, and are sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. The engine is based off the production LS3 engine that comes in Chevrolet and GMC Trucks, Chevrolet Corvette, and Chevrolet Camaro.
           
            On Friday, the gates at Talladega Short Track open at 4 p.m. Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 4:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:45 p.m., and Hot Laps are scheduled for 7 p.m.
           
            On Saturday, the gates at Talladega Short Track open at 3 p.m. Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 5:30 p.m., and Hot Laps are scheduled for 6 p.m.
           
            Race fans are invited to arrive at Talladega Short Track early on Saturday for the Chevy Fan Zone from 4:30 p.m. to 5:20 p.m. Drivers will be meeting and greeting the race fans. They will be available for photo ops with the winner’s trophy and check, and they will be signing autographs. The drivers will also have Hero Cards for the kids, and there will also be a kids coloring contest.
