Rocket1 Racing’s Brandon Sheppard Finishes Third in Knoxville LOLMDS Finale
Jackson 100 on Deck for this Friday and Saturday

SHINNSTON, W.Va. (09/19/22) – Brandon Sheppard piloted the Rocket1 Racing / Valvoline / Seubert Calf Ranches No. 1 Ace Metal Works / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model to a podium finish in Sunday’s finale of the 18th annual Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.

With the finish, Sheppard also made up ground in his pursuit of the 2022 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) championship.

“It feels good to run well in this race. I have had a lot of good runs here, so I expected to run good to a certain extent. We had a good car there. Man, I wish it was more laps now because I think we were getting better there at the end,” Sheppard said. “It was unfortunate for Timmy [McCreadie] to get knocked out of the feature, but we all have bad luck sometimes, that’s part of the game. He still has a pretty good lead on us, so we still have alot of work to do, but this team is in dig mode, and we’re looking forward to Brownstown (Speedway).”

Rocket1 Racing and Brandon Sheppard opened his slate of racing with a visit to Fairbury (Ill.) Speedway on Tuesday afternoon for the Castrol FloRacing Night in America event as the miniseries returned to action following the summer break.

With a talent-laden field of 42 Late Models entered for the third annual One for the Road, Brandon’s third-place finish in his heat race positioned him on the fifth row for the $22,022-to-win A-Main. After shuffling a few spots early, Sheppard raced to a ninth-place in the 50-lap affair.

Returning with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) on Wednesday, Sheppard entered his Rocket1 Racing No. 1 Late Model into battle at Knoxville Raceway (Knoxville, Iowa) for the 18th annual Knoxville Nationals weekend.

Earning the 10th-starting position for the preliminary feature via a third-place performance in his heat race, Brandon gained six spots in the 25-lapper to register a fourth-place finish. He followed Shane Clanton, Earl Pearson Jr., and Jonathan Davenport to the checkers with Kyle Strickler coming in fifth.

For another $7,000-to-win prelim on Friday, Sheppard had to race his way into the A-Main through his B-Main after finishing fifth in his heat. Following a runner-up performance in his consolation race, Brandon jumped up six spots in the feature to cross the line in 14th.

With passing points for prelims aligning Brandon on the sixth row for Sunday’s rain-delayed $50,000-to-win Knoxville Nationals finale, Sheppard advanced forward eight spots in the 50-lapper to place third. He trailed Jonathan Davenport and Tyler Bruening to the checkers with Ricky Thornton Jr. and Earl Pearson completing the Top-5 finishers.

Brandon continues to second in the latest LOLMDS point standings but nearly cut 100 points off Tim McCreadie’s lead with Sunday’s performance.
Full results from the weekend as well as the latest standings are available at www.LucasDirt.com .

The team now turns their attention to Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway this weekend and the 2022 edition of the storied Jackson 100. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series weekend opens on Friday with a $10,000-to-win program and continues with a $20,000-to-win finale on Saturday.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (September 19, 2022) - Although in a prime position to pad his 2022 stat sheet, a turn four miscue ended Schatz’ campaign at Keller Auto Speedway on Friday, September 16, forcing the Fargo native to settle for 23rd on the scorecard after hard contact with the outside retaining wall sent the ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion pit side. Schatz was battling for a top-five outcome at the time of the incident, getting to second early while racing head-to-head with Justin Sanders, Brad Sweet, Logan Schuchart, and Jacob Allen.

Despite the chaotic ending to their West Coast Swing, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing are ready to move on, already setting aim on a pair of starts in the Buckeye State beginning with Eldora Speedway’s BeFour the Crowns Showdown on Friday, September 16. Certainly no stranger to the highbanks of Eldora Speedway, Schatz has won five Kings Royals titles, his most recent in 2018.

Schatz will cap the coming weekend with a stop at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on Saturday, September 17.

ON DECK:
As noted, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2022 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a two-day invasion of the Buckeye State, first visiting Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio, for the BeFour the Crowns Showdown on Friday, September 23, then setting aim on Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio, on Saturday, September 24. WoO Stateline Showdown at Boyd’s Speedway on Deck this Week

The victory was his 11th of the season.

"I'd rather be lucky than good any day. Dale (McDowell) was fast, I get so tight here the longer we run, and Dale is really good about steering," Hedgecock said. "Just tickled to death, glad it all worked out. Saw he was having a flat going down on the left-rear with that restart and thought if we could just keep riding around here, I might be able to get this thing.”

Last Corner, Last Lap Pass Secures Moyer Jr. a $3,000 Payday

Batesville, Arkansas (09/19/22) – Billy Moyer Jr. only led the final 100-or-so feet of Thursday night’s COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model event at Magnolia Motor Speedway, but that was all that it took for him to secure the $3,000 victory aboard his Nutrien Ag Solutions No. 21 Dyna-Gro Seed / Mesilla Valley Transportation / Phillips CPA / Titan Motorsports / Pontiac RV / Longhorn Race Car / Clements Racing Engines Super Late Model.

Moyer Jr. took advantage of leader, Evan Ellis’ scrape with the turn four wall to pick up his third win of the year.

“Man that was a tough deal for Evan (Ellis). I’ve been there and I know how much it stings to give one away coming to the checkered flag. However, we were in the right place to take advantage of his bad luck, and we got the win,” Moyer Jr. said. “From there we had a pretty solid weekend at The Mag (Magnolia Motor Speedway) with a sixth on Friday and a third in the finale on Saturday after leading the first half of the race.

“We’re currently evaluating our racing options for the upcoming weekend, and we’ll probably make a decision by Wednesday.”

Taking part in the rescheduled COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) event from early September, Billy Moyer Jr. visited Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) on Thursday evening for the Labor Day Classic.

With 37 Late Models entered, Moyer Jr. laid down the second-fastest time in his group before winning his heat race. He earned $3,000 ahead of Thrash, Ellis, Joseph Joiner, and B.J. Robinson.

For Friday’s $4,000-to-win program, Billy’s second-place finish in his heat positioned him sixth on the starting grid for the A-Main. Regaining his starting spot with a last-lap pass, Moyer Jr. recorded a sixth-place finish in the 40-lapper.

On Saturday, Moyer Jr. locked his spot into the $12,000-to-win Cotton Pickin’ 100 with a heat race triumph. After setting the pace for the opening 25 circuits, Billy went onto place third in the 60-lap affair, which came behind Cade Dillard and Wil Herrington.

Full results from the weekend are available at www.MagnoliaDirt.com .
