Scott Bloomquist Scores First LOLMDS Win of 2018
Preps for Weekend Tripleheader

Mooresburg, Tennessee (04/16/18) – Scott Bloomquist took his Reece Monuments #0 Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model to Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Victory Lane for the first time in 2018 on Friday night.

He led all 50 laps of the $12,000-to-win, Buckeye Spring 50 at Ohio's Atomic Speedway.

"We had a good night. We started out good in qualifying and the rest of the night the car was just awesome. The track got pretty slick and blacked off. At the end I just decided to set it high and let it sail. The car got through traffic pretty good. All-in-all I can't say enough about the car and engine combination. Everything was great. This Sweet-Bloomquist car was sweet tonight and the Andy Durham Engine ran perfect. It was another good points night."

With 30 entries on hand the 54-year-old racer earned the outside-front-row starting spot for the finale after winning his heat race. He grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag. After fending off challenges from Don O'Neal and Tim McCreadie, Bloomquist stretched his advantage in the closing laps to score the win. O'Neal, McCreadie, Brandon Sheppard, and Jonathan Davenport completed the Top-5 finishers.

With Saturday night's LOLMDS event at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana) washed away by Mother Nature, the team headed to Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway (Jamaica, Virginia) to compete in the Aaron's King of the Commonwealth event.

The $20,000-to-win, Ultimate Super Late Model Series event drew 56 entries to the sprawling oval, and via preliminary action Scott earned the outside-front-row starting spot for the feature.

With fellow-front-row starter Jonathan Davenport grabbing the lead at the drop of the green flag, Bloomquist battled in the Top-3 throughout the event before staging a late-race charge for the top spot. He would come up just a little short with a runner-up finish behind Davenport. Chris Madden, Tim McCreadie, and Brandon Overton completed the Top-5 finishers.

Full results from the weekend are available at www.LucasDirt.com and www.UltimateSupers.com .

The upcoming weekend – April 20-22 – will find Team Zero taking part in a trio of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) events. The three-race, three-state swing opens with a $12,000-to-win event on Friday night at Sharon Speedway (Hartford, Ohio). On Saturday the action shifts to Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Maryland) with another $12,000-to-win event. The busy weekend draws to a close on Sunday night at Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pennsylvania) with a $10,000-to-win affair.

Dale McDowell Bags Scott Sexton Memorial Win at The Gap
Georgia Racer Pockets Third $10,000 Win of the Season

Mooresburg, Tennessee (04/16/18) –Dale McDowell continued his hot start to the season on Saturday night. The veteran racer piloted the Shane McDowell Racing #17m Will Kinzer Foundation/ Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $10,052 victory in the annual Scott Sexton Memorial.

Following a late-race caution McDowell overtook race leader, Donald McIntosh on his way to scoring the coveted win at Volunteer Speedway.

“I think (the caution) kinda bit (McIntosh) a little bit,” said McDowell. “My car was better when it was slick earlier. And it got a little streak to it there and Donald got tight, so that allowed me to get under him down the back straightaway and kinda go in there and slide in front of him. I’m not real good at those slide jobs, but anyway, it worked for us tonight.”

McDowell was quick to dedicate the win to the memory of his late friend.

“It just wouldn’t be fitting without dedicating this race to Scott Sexton,” McDowell said. “He and I raced a lot here. Most of the time he kicked my tail. You know I thought about him tonight when the groove was around the top qualifying because that’s where he always liked to run. We miss him.”

On Saturday night Dale McDowell returned to action with the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals Series at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) as he took part in the annual Scott Sexton Memorial.

With 26 Super Late Models registered, McDowell recorded the fifth-fastest time in his qualifying group before placing third in his heat race.

Earning the 10th-starting position for the A-Main, Dale worked his way into the Top-5 in the opening 10 circuits and successfully broke into a podium spot by lap-30. Overtaking race-leader Donald McIntosh on lap-44, McDowell held the 22-car field at bay for the final eight laps to pick up his second-straight victory and third overall on the season.

Pocketing a $10,052 payday, Dale topped McIntosh, Jimmy Owens, Casey Roberts, and Cory Hedgecock at the line.

Full results from this event are available at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com .

Shane McDowell Racing will turn their attention to a pair of $4,000-to-win Ultimate Super Late Model Series events for the upcoming weekend. Action kicks off at Dixie Speedway (Woodstock, Georgia) on Saturday night and will conclude on Sunday evening at Rome Speedway (Rome, Georgia).

Big Game Motorsports and Madsen Joining World of Outlaws for Tripleheader

Inside Line Promotions - WINDOM, Minn. (April 16, 2018) - Kerry Madsen and Big Game Motorsports will return to action this weekend during a World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series tripleheader.

The Muddy sponsored team is scheduled to compete on Friday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.; on Saturday at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., during the Spring Classic; and on Sunday at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind.

"It feels like the season is finally starting," Madsen said. "I'm excited to get back into the motion and get going. It feels like a long break since Las Vegas."

The team last raced on March 1 and was unable to compete last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, because of wet weather.

This weekend's action showcases a trio of high-banked bullrings.

Madsen said he's competed at Riverside International Speedway once in his career, which came during the World of Outlaws last visit in April 2009. Madsen earned a seventh-place result.

Madsen has a lot more laps at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, where he scored a World of Outlaws win in 2014 and earned at least one top-10 finish per season from 2010-16 before not visiting the oval last year.

"It's without a doubt one of my favorites," he said. "It's one of the few tracks left that doesn't shave the top off. It pays to be aggressive on the top line. It always produces a great race."

Madsen has numerous top-five finishes in his career at Tri-State Speedway, including a dash win and a fifth-place feature result during his most recent race in 2016.

"It's a technical little joint," he said. "I've had good runs there so I'm looking forward to getting back there."

Sides Facing World of Outlaws Tripleheader if Weather Cooperates

Inside Line Promotions - BARTLETT, Tenn. (April 16, 2018) - Half of the 18 scheduled World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races have been rained out this season, which is the second worst start to a season Jason Sides has witnessed.

"I forget what year it was, but rain cancelled all of the California swing," he said. "We drove out there and went to Phoenix and sat for two weeks. Fortunately my dad was with me and we stopped at some casinos and we hit for a bit so that paid for my two weeks of sitting out there."

The weather this weekend is shaping up nicely as the World of Outlaws has a tripleheader on tap. Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., will host a show on Friday before Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., showcases the Spring Classic on Saturday. Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Ind., wraps up the weekend with a race on Sunday.

"I'm hoping that we have some good runs," he said. "It's tough not racing because you can't get into a rhythm."

Sides placed sixth in April 2009 during his most recent World of Outlaws race at Riverside International Speedway, which is a short drive from where he lives.

"It'll give a lot of our family and friends an opportunity to watch us race," he said. "Being only 15 to 20 minutes from the track will allow the people who have been around us growing up and racing to come out."

Sides recorded a victory at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in 2012 and he posted a runner-up result there in 2015 to highlight the last few appearances. He also placed 10th at the bullring last year.

"It's a fun race track," he said. "Whether you're good or bad it's a fun track to get around."

Sides has scored a top-10 finish during three of his last six races at Tri-State Speedway, which had its originally scheduled date last weekend rained out.

"I'm glad they're making it up because we need to get these races in," he said. "Running at Tri-State Speedway is no different than most tracks. If you qualify decent and start up front you can be successful. "

SIDES MOTORSPORTS SEASON STATS -

Ball Picks Up First Win at I-80 Speedway With Nebraska 360 Sprints

Inside Line Promotions - GREENWOOD, Neb. (April 16, 2018) - Jamie Ball put on a clinic last Friday at I-80 Speedway, where he captured his first win of the 2018 season.

The White Lightning Motorsports driver was scheduled to compete at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa, but a rainout sent them in search of another place to race. The team made the decision to head west to the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints event.

Ball won his heat race from the pole position, which locked him into the top eight redraw for the feature event.

"We just unloaded fast," he said. "From the first lap of hot laps I knew we had a good piece and the car to beat and that momentum carried throughout the night. We started on the front row for the heat race and got the jump on the start and never looked back. Caleb (Walker) had the luck of the draw for the redraw and it put us up front again for the feature."

Ball's team pulled the No. 1 during the random redraw to start the 25-lap main event from the pole.

"The car was spot on from the get-go," Ball said. "Our Fisher engine shot off the starting line to the lead. We went to the cushion and led every lap. About halfway the track rubbered up and then we lost brakes, but we were able to hang on until the checkered flag."

Ball led the distance to record the impressive triumph.

"The car was on a rail and just one of the best cars I've ever driven," he said. "It's so nice to be able to get our first win at such an early point of our year. I truly credit this win to what the first three races of the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour has taught me and I'm looking forward to a great year of learning and success."

Ball's next race on the schedule will be this Saturday at Knoxville Raceway for the rescheduled season opener. He will be running both a 360ci and 410ci sprint car.

"I'm really looking forward to competing at Knoxville Raceway when our schedule allows," Ball said. "We were able to get some practice laps in last Thursday and the car felt really good and had some speed. I'm excited to see where we stack up against the big dogs of the 410 class at Knoxville."
