Matt Cosner Finds Luck in Hagerstown Speedway Triumph
LOLMDS at Portsmouth and Muskingum Up Next

RIDGELEY, W.Va. (06/29/21) – Sometimes a little bit of luck doesn’t hurt, and such was the case for Matt Cosner on Saturday evening at Maryland’s Hagerstown Speedway. Inheriting the lead late in the race, when the frontrunners tangled, Cosner led the final three circuits to claim the $3,000 winner’s check aboard his LINE-X® No. 66c Nelson Auto Sales/ R.H. Lapp Mechanical Contractors/ Rocket Chassis/ Cornett Racing Engine Super Late Model.

The victory, which came in the Tex Shaffer Memorial, marked Cosner’s second of the year.

“We definitely didn’t have the best car tonight but sometimes it is better to be lucky than good,” Cosner said. “I knew with only three laps to go that I had a great shot of holding them off, and I was able to do it. I’m very happy to get another win in our LINE-X® Rocket Chassis. Thanks to all who support the 66c.”

Saturday night found Matt Cosner in action at Hagerstown Speedway (Hagerstown, Md.), where he was making his lone start of the weekend behind the wheel of the Nelson Auto Sales No. 66c LINE-X® Late Model. After topping the speed charts in time trials, Cosner streaked to a heat race win, which positioned him third on the starting grid for the Tex Shaffer Memorial A-Main.

Inheriting the lead late in the race after the two frontrunners were collected in a tangle, Matt raced to his second win of the season, which came over Justin Weaver, Marvin Winters, Kenny Moreland, and Barry Miller. He pocketed $3,000 for the victory.

Hagar Set for Four-Race Weekend in Arkansas and Mississippi

Inside Line Promotions - MARION, Ark. (June 29, 2021) - Derek Hagar is heading into a four-race weekend seeking a visit to Victory Lane.

"It's been another slow start to the year for us," he said. "We haven't done a lot of racing. We're trying to build our 410 operation up and that's taken time. I'm looking forward to running back to back for four straight nights and hopefully picking up some wins."

It begins on Thursday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark. A trio of USCS Series races - Friday at Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Ark.; Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.; and Sunday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss. - wrap up the weekend.

Hagar has a five-year winning streak at I-30 Speedway. He's already picked up a victory at Riverside International Speedway this year. Additionally, Hagar won his most recent start at Magnolia Motor Speedway in July 2019.

"We've had good success at all three of those tracks," he said. "It's expected for us to do well so hopefully we can contend each night."

Old No. 1 Speedway is the lone track on this weekend's slate where Hagar hasn't driven into the Winner's Circle. He charged from 19th to fourth during his last race there in May 2019 and he posted a career-best runner-up result there in June 2015.

"I think I've only raced there twice," he said. "They run late models, stock cars and modifieds on a weekly basis and a couple of sprint car shows each year. We don't really get to race there very much so it's kind of new to everybody. You have to get yourself good track position to be in contention to get the win. We're always hungry to be able to get our first win at a track so hopefully we can accomplish that this weekend."

SEASON STATS -

16 races, 2 wins, 7 top fives, 14 top 10s, 14 top 15s, 16 top 20s

UP NEXT -

Thursday at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Ark.; and Friday at Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Ark.; Saturday at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark.; and Sunday at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss., with the USCS Series

Shane Hebert Wheels to Ark-La-Tex STSS Victory
Also Visits Victory Lane in Limited Modified Action

LAFAYETTE, La. (06/29/21) – Shane Hebert enjoyed a triumphant debut with Brandon Hightower Racing on Saturday night at Ark-La-Tex Speedway. The Louisiana racer piloted the team’s Joey Brown Plumbing No. 9 Cajun Pools / Bicknell Racing / APE Racing Engine Big Block Modified to the Short Track Super Series Cajun Region win.

Hebert also added a Limited Modified win to his night’s achievements.

“Saturday was perfect in all aspects besides the ignition problem in the Big Block Modified. Despite the issue, we still swept the program and got the win. In the Limited Modified division, we fell just short of the heat race win, but we knew we had a car that could win the feature, and that’s exactly what we did,” Hebert said. “I’m really proud of this team. Thank you to Brandon and Kevin Hightower for giving me this opportunity to run their Big Block Modified. Thanks to all the sponsors for making things happen.”

With Brandon Hightower sidelined indefinitely due injuries he sustained in a wreck at Georgetown Speedway (Georgetown, Del.) on May 14, Hightower tabbed Shane Hebert to pilot the team’s brand-new Bicknell / APE Engines No. 9 Modified at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, La.) on Saturday afternoon. In a field of 16 for the Short Track Super Series (STSS) Cajun Region entries, Hebert started the night off with a heat race victory, transferring him into the redraw. Receiving the pole position, Shane led flag-to-flag in the 20-lapper to grab his first win of the season in the Hightower-backed entry.

He took the checkers ahead of Caleb Dillard, Tommy Rascoe, Jon White, and Greg Dillard to claim the $1,000 top prize.

Hebert also piloted his No. 9 Limited Mod to the victory on Saturday evening after topping a great battle with Justin Whitehead.

Full results from this event, please visit www.ShortTrackSuperSeries.com .

The next race for Hebert in the Brandon Hightower Racing No. 9 will be on July 17 at Louisiana’s Chatham Speedway.

Drake Troutman Bests Renegades of Dirt Modified Action at Greater Cumberland
Three-Race Renegades of Dirt Pennsylvania Swing Up Next

HYNDMAN, Pa. (06/29/21) – Drake Troutman piloted his Smith Transport / RFI Resources No. 7 MB Customs Race Car / Lasalle Racing Engine Modified to the Renegades of Dirt Tour Victory on Saturday night at The Greater Cumberland Raceway.

Troutman’s 16th win of the year was worth $3,000.

“Honestly, I think we had a chance at two wins this weekend, but passing was pretty difficult in the feature on Friday night at Roaring Knob. I tried the topside once but there just wasn’t much left up there by that point. We got a third-place finish, but I felt like we had more potential. On Saturday night at The Greater Cumberland Raceway, we overcame a flat tire to beat one of the best in the business in Eddie Carrier Jr,” Troutman commented. “We’ll carry this momentum into the upcoming weekend. A big thank you goes out to everyone, who supports our program!”

A busy weekend of racing kicked off on Friday night at Pennsylvania’s Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex. Drake was pulling double duty with both the Renegades of Dirt (RoD) Modifieds and Super Late Models.

In RoD competition, Troutman blazed to the fastest time over the 23 entries to earn the outside-front-row starting spot for the feature. The main event found the field battling around the low side of the speedway as Drake slipped to a third-place finish behind Eddie Carrier Jr. and Michael Altobelli with Gary Dalton and Mitch Thomas completing the Top-5 finishers.

In Super Late Model action, Drake qualified second in the 14-car field, which locked him into the second-starting spot for the feature. He ran in the runner-up position throughout the feature before crossing the finish line in second to Jared Hawkins.

Saturday took the team to The Greater Cumberland Speedway (Cumberland, Md.) for another Renegades of Dirt event. Drake turned in a great performance with a hard-earned feature win.

He started the night by setting fast time to earn the pole for the feature. Carrier Jr. jumped out to the early lead, and Drake pursued him until lap 16, when he got a flat on his No. 7 Modified. He ducked into the pit area for fresh rubber and charged from the back of the pack to the lead on lap 21. He never looked back on his way to his 16th win of 2021.

Eddie Carrier Jr., Daniel Hill, Kurt Rogers and Ed Vogel completed the Top-5 finishers.

The team now turns their attention to a Pennsylvania tripleheader with the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour, which spans this Thursday – Saturday. Action opens on Thursday at McKean County Speedway before moving to Thunder Mountain Speedway on Friday and then Hummingbird Speedway on Saturday. All three events pay $2,000 to win.

Troutman continues to lead the way in the latest RoD standings.
