NEWSOME RACEWAY PARTS STREET DIVISION WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 1 ROUND UP

              ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Ten races opened the 2020 Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Street Stock Division season. There were six 50-point winners with eight or more cars and four 40-point winners with less than eight cars.

              The 2018 Newsome Raceway Parts Street Stock National Champion Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS opened the 2020 season on Friday night with a 50-point win driving the Tri-State Rock and Rails Special powered by an economical Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Fayetteville Speedway in Fayetteville, NC held its first sanctioned race on Friday night with Ryan Gilbert of Dublin, NC taking the 40-point win.

            Lake View Motor Speedway in Nichols, SC held its first ever Newsome Raceway Parts Street Stock event and let the record show that Tom Lovett took the win over a 16-car field. Also taking 50-point wins on Saturday night were Trevor Woodard at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN, Jamie Sudduth at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Landen Jackson at Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS topped a 21-car field.

Carl Kilgore IV of Greenville, MS in the Lee’s Body Shop Special drove to a 50-point win on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. Other drivers taking 40-point wins were R.J. Emison of Alamo, TN at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Sam Hughes at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL and Keenan Vandygriff at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, TN.

Idom, Lovett, Woodard, Sudduth, Jackson, and Kilgore will share the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA National Weekly Racing Series Street Stock point lead going into Week 2 of the 22-week 2020 season that runs through November 1. Drivers will count their best 11 weekly totals to make up their National weekly total.

              ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Week 1 of the 2020 Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Late Model Sportsman season saw five 50-point winners against car counts of eight or more, one 40-point winner against a car count of less than eight, and two rainouts on Saturday night due to Tropical Storm Cristobal.

              Brett White of Kosciusko, MS topped a 19-car field at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS to take the Newsome Raceway Parts Late Model Sportsman win driving the Attalla Steel Rocket. Ryan King of Anniston, AL drove the David King Automotive Special to the win at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL.

              Sam Ramsey was the winner at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL, and Russ Brasel grabbed the victory at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. Ty Lowe opened the Late Model Sportsman season on Friday night with a win at Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA. Colton Roberts took the 40-point win on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN. 

            The Newsome Raceway Parts Late Model Sportsman Week 1 races scheduled for All Tech Speedway in Lake City, FL and Northwest Florida Speedway in Baker, FL were rained out. Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA did not report their Friday night results.

              ADAIRSVILLE – The defending Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS picked up where he left off in 2019 by winning the 2020 season opener on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS driving the Billy Riels Racing Special.

              The General will be joined by seven other drivers at the top of the Late Model Weekly Racing Series National points list, all with 50-point Week 1 wins in fields with car counts of eight or more cars. Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN drove the Dixon Plumbing Rocket to victory on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN.

              Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL picked up the Newsome Raceway Parts Late Model win on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS driving the Steele’s Dive Special. The 2019 Newsome Raceway Parts Late Model Sportsman National Champion Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL made his Weekly Racing Series Late Model debut with a win at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL driving the Sparks Energy Rocket on Saturday night.

              David Kay of Munford, AL drove the Advantage Plus Excavating Special to victory on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS welcomed Pike County Speedway in McComb, MS back to the Newsome Raceway Parts Weekly Racing Series with a win on Saturday night driving the Villa South Special.

              Two new tracks made their debut in the Newsome Raceway Parts Weekly Racing Series on Saturday night. Chad Dupont took the win at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, LA, and Gray Parton was the winner at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC.

              There were three 40-point winners in fields of less than eight cars on Saturday night in Newsome Raceway Parts Late Model Week 1 action. Dustin Rollins was the winner at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, TN, Brent Dillon took the victory at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, and the 2019 VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series Champion Brock Hall of Ethridge, TN drove the Hall Insurance Special to victory at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Summertown, TN.
