Jake Knowles Overcomes Adversity for Pair of Cochran Top 10’s
Georgia Racer Battles Through Ups And Downs In Durrence Layne Action

Rome, Georgia (03/11/19) – Jake Knowles had to overcome adversity and more than his fair share of challenges en route to a pair of Top-10 finishes over the weekend with the Durrence Layne Winter Shootout Series.

On Friday night he finished 10th in his Knowles Race Parts & Bodies #66 Josh Roberts Trucking/ Coosa Heating & Cooling/ Longhorn Chassis Late Model, while Saturday night found him crossing the finish line in fourth.

“It was just one of those weekends for us,” Knowles said. “We really had a good car both nights. On Friday night I was running a solid second place and got spun with three laps to go. I was able to bounce back to 10th, but it was pretty disheartening. Then on Saturday night, we qualified a little further back then I would’ve liked and had to start 10th. We got as high as the third spot before finishing fourth. It was a challenging weekend, but we never gave up.”

Jake Knowles followed the Durrence Layne Winter Shootout Series to Cochran Motor Speedway (Cochran, Georgia) on Friday night for the opening round of the two-day Cochran Clash. In a field of 21 cars, Jake registered the third-fastest time in qualifying, which positioned him third on the starting grid for the opening night feature. With $2,000 on the line, Knowles got spun around on lap-28, while running in the second spot. He rejoined the tail of the field before rebounding to a 10th-place finish.

The following night, Knowles secured his spot into the $3,000-to-win finale with the 10th-fastest time in qualifying. Breaking into the Top-5, Jake passed six cars in the 50-lapper to finish fourth behind Tyler Sanders, Ashton Winger, and Jimmy Elliott with Drew Kennedy rounding out the Top 5.

Jake finished second in the final Durrence Layne Winter Shootout Series point standings. For full results from the event, please visit www.DurrenceLayneRacing.com .

Crockett Welcomes Route 66 Chevrolet as New Partner, Aiming for First Full Season on ASCS National Tour in 2019

Inside Line Promotions - BROKEN ARROW, Okla. (March 10, 2019) - The last year has been a whirlwind for Roger Crockett, who uprooted his business and life from the West Coast to the Midwest prior to the start of the 2018 season.

Crockett aimed to tackle the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour as a full-time competitor last year for the first time in his career and he got off to a rousing start by winning the season opener. Unfortunately, misfortune hampered him throughout the season and he was forced to pull off the tour in late June.

Crockett focused on his business and made a couple of key changes to his team in the fall, switching to JR-1 Chassis and Rider Racing Engines.

"Last year we had a terrible year, the worst year since I started racing," he said. "Things didn't go right and I made mistakes. The primary problem was we just didn't run well. We made a lot of changes and we're pretty confident we stumbled upon our problem. We finished last year with the car we wanted."

Crockett is excited to return to the ASCS National Tour in 2019, this time with the help of a new sponsor in Route 66 Chevrolet. It's a family owned and operated dealership located in Tulsa, Okla. The company has won GM's Dealer of the Year Award three times and is the No. 1 Chevy dealer in Oklahoma.

"It's been a goal for a really long time to figure out a way to run the ASCS National Tour," Crockett said. "Even when I was living on the West Coast I was constantly trying to figure out.

"We got referred to do some work for Route 66 Chevrolet last year. We started on a good foot and we established a relationship through our business. They are really into racing. They needed a sticker for the Chili Bowl and I got it done right away. Then they gave me an opportunity to wrap a courtesy vehicle. They asked what my plans were and I said we're working hard to run the ASCS National Tour and they said, 'Hey, we want to help out.' They are making it possible for me to run the ASCS National Tour this year."

Crockett said he will fill in his schedule with regional events mostly in the Midwest to the tune of approximately 60 races throughout the season.

"My dad still helps out a lot with BC Motorsports and I want to say thanks to Steve and Kim Swinney for their continued support," he said. "We have a lot of things going our way and we're excited to go after a full season on the ASCS National Tour."

The season-opening event is next Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, where the half-mile oval hosts the 46 th annual ASCS Spring Nationals. Crockett won the opener before the finale rained out last year.

ST. HELENA, Calif. (March 11, 2019) - It was a tough weekend for St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu, but despite a frustrating outing at Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway, Abreu is already looking forward to his scheduled visits to Silver Dollar Speedway and Stockton Dirt Track.

Abreu, driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil/Priority Aviation/Southern Pacific Farms/No. 24 sprint car, entered two programs during his visit to the Thunderbowl 1/3-mile on Saturday, March 9, entering action against the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, as well as the Kings of Thunder Winged 360 Sprint Cars.

Unfortunately, Abreu was unable to garner any momentum against the pair of ultra-competitive fields, ultimately missing a qualifying spot for main event competition against the Greatest Show On Dirt, soon followed by a mishap during 360 action which resulted in a ‘DNF.’

“It was just one of those nights. The most important thing is, I am safe and sound,” Rico Abreu explained regarding his crash during the Kings of Thunder main event. “We started third, so I was hoping to make the best of that. We’ll shake this weekend off and try again next weekend at Silver Dollar and Stockton. We’ve had success at both places, so I’m ready to get back there.”

Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will continue their 2019 campaign by rejoining the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at Silver Dollar Speedway and Stockton Dirt Track on Friday and Saturday, March 15 & 16, respectively. Abreu is certainly no stranger to competition at each of the aforementioned dirt ovals, winning the 2018 Gold Cup at Silver Dollar against the Outlaws, as well as scoring the 2018 season-ending Gary Patterson Tribute at Stockton.

The 2018 Gold Cup victory, Abreu's second in three years, was worth $15,000.

Schatz garners top-ten at Thunderbowl Raceway

Dates: Friday and Saturday, March 8th & 9th
Event: World of Outlaws at Thunderbowl Raceway
Series: World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series
Track: Thunderbowl Raceway (Tulare, Calif.)
Donny Schatz A-Main Finishes (Start):
Friday: Cancelled/Mother Nature
Saturday: 10th (9th)

2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 2nd - 708 points (20 points behind current leader, Daryn Pittman)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (March 11, 2019) - A weekend filled with conflicts with Mother Nature, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz made the best of his visit to Tulare’s Thunderbowl Raceway and secured his fifth World of Outlaws top-ten finish in as many starts.

After losing Friday night’s date due to Mother Nature, Schatz, pilot of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car, returned to Thunderbowl Raceway on Saturday, March 9, for the first and only Outlaws appearance of 2019.

Although he missed the evening’s dash after finishing third during heat race competition, Schatz made the most of his ninth place starting position and crossed under the final checkers tenth in the running order, surviving what was a weather-induced fast and choppy surface.

“We’ll take these results and move forward,” Donny Schatz explained. “Hats off to Thunderbowl Raceway for getting it in. We are already looking ahead to next weekend.”

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their quest toward an 11th World of Outlaws championship on Friday and Saturday, March 15 & 16, with visits to Silver Dollar Speedway and Stockton Dirt Track, respectively. The ten-time and defending World of Outlaws champion will enter the weekend second in the current Series standings, a mere-20 points behind Roth Motorsports’ Daryn Pittman.

Schatz is a former winner at Silver Dollar Speedway, most recently earning the Mini Gold Cup title in 2016.
