The next two races at the 8th Annual Bubba Army Winternationals weren’t as kind as the first race at BRP for the Champ. Elliott was running fifth in the March 1 race, but dropped out on lap 22 of the 40-lap race. Elliott was caught up in a wreck not of his doing in the 15th Annual Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race on March 2, and finished 24th.

Elliott is one of three drivers that have appeared in all four Durrence Layne Chevrolet Winter Shootout races, that include Shannon Davis of Estill Springs, TN and Todd Hurst of Lineville, AL. All three are expected for Rounds 5 and 6 this weekend at Cochran Motor Speedway. Elliott leads the Winter Shootout standings with 310 points.

Kyle Bronson of Brandon, FL is fresh off his unprecedented third-straight Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race win at Bubba Raceway Park on March 2. In over three years of racing with the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series, Bronson has taken over $55,000 in prize money to the bank. Bronson, who also took the win in Round 2 on February 28, is second in the Winter Shootout standings with 292 points.

The defending Durrence Layne Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Ashton Winger of Hampton, GA will be at Cochran Motor Speedway this weekend. Winger finished second in the Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race on March 2. Also expected is the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet National Championship Runner-up Jake Knowles of Rome, GA.

Local favorite Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, GA will defend his home turf after venturing away from familiar territory and turning in a strong third-place finish in the Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race on March 2 at Bubba Raceway Park. Herrington also recorded the fastest lap around BRP during a Heat Race for any type of dirt late model at 13.999 seconds.

Another local favorite bringing some momentum to his home track is 14-year-old Parker Martin of McIntyre, GA. Martin made himself known on the national stage of dirt late model racing at the Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race by driving to a tenth-place finish. It was Martin’s best career finish with the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series.

Martin will be competing for the 2019 VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series title with the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series. The VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series is for Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model drivers that are 18 years of age and younger. They will compete for a separate point this season.
