McCARTER EARNS THE POLE FOR THE 29TH ANNUAL ICE BOWL AT TST EASTABOGA, AL – Pierce McCarter of Gatlinburg, TN earned the pole position on Saturday for the Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series portion of the 29th Annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track on Sunday. McCarter earned the pole position for the $3,000-to-win race after driving the Parkway Liquors Longhorn to victory in the first Heat Race. The Ice Bowl is also the first race of the 3rd Annual Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series. Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, TN is the defending and two-time Winter Shootout Series Champion and the defending Ice Bowl champion. Elliott will start on the outside front row after winning the second ten-lap Heat Race in the Car Smart Auto Sales Longhorn. Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, TN drove the Johns Farms Pierce to victory in the third Heat Race on Saturday and will start the Ice Bowl 40-lap Main Event on the inside of row three. Three-time Newsome Raceway Parts Crate Racin’ USA Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, TN won the fourth ten-lap Heat Race and will start the Ice Bowl from the outside of the second row.
