DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 7 ROUND UP ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Mother Nature once again gave the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series a heart punch by raining out 16 of the 18 Week 7 scheduled events, but it didn’t get the arm or leg of the series, as races in Kansas and Florida went on as scheduled. That produced two Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division races and one Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division race. Dusty Leonard of Marysville, KS started 11th and charged to his third Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division win of the season on Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS. The co-sanctioned event with NCRA saw a total of 29 entrants. The victory vaulted Leonard up to the 14th spot in National point standings. Southern Speedway in Milton, FL got races in for two Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions on Saturday night. Bo Slay of Milton, FL drove his Slay’s Mobile Home Service Special to his first Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division win of the 2019 season, and moved up to 12th in the National point standings. The Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division race on Saturday night at Southern Raceway shuffled up the Top 10 of the National standings, and produced a new point leader. Calvin Cook of Chumuckla, FL took his third straight Street Stock win on Saturday night driving the Love Stuff Online Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. The win lifted Cook into the third spot in the National point standings and into title contention. Joseph Nicholson of Fort Walton Beach, FL finished eighth in the Nicholson Racing Special and took over the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point standings after Week 7 competition. The National point standings for both the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division remain the same. All eight Late Model Sportsman Division races and all five Modified Sportsman Division races on the Week 7 schedule of events were rained out. Drivers competing the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.
