DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 11 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 11 of the 27-week Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season was a winning one for three of the four point leaders. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS, Lee Ray of Columbus, MS, and Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS won in their respective Divisions over the weekend.

              Scarbrough picked up his fifth Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division win of the season on Saturday night at his home track, Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Scarbrough has 539 points to top the points list with a 16 point margin over Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS. Scarbrough also has the highest Weekly Point Average (WPA) at 49 out of a possible 50.

              In just a few weeks, the Top 10 in the point standings of each of the four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions will begin to see some big changes, as drivers begin to reach the 14-week mark of their respective seasons.

              The defending Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Josh Leonard of Gibbon, NE and Delbert Smith of Wichita, KS are tied for second on the WPA list at 48.43, but they are both currently outside the Top 10 in the point standings. While drivers in the Top 10 of the points have competed in either 11 or 10 weeks of competition, Leonard and Smith have only raced for seven weeks.

              The 2012 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS is tied for fourth with Dusty Leonard of Marysville, KS on the WPA list. Washington is fourth in the National points over 10 weeks, and Leonard is 20th in the standings after competing for seven weeks.

              Josh Leonard took his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, and Dusty Leonard was a winner for the third time this season on Saturday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS. Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third in the point standings and ninth on the WPA list. Russell took the win on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL.

              Other Week 11 Late Model winners on Friday night were Hunter Carroll of Columbus, MS at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Tootie Arnold of Meadville, MS at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Ben Faircloth of Swainsboro, GA won the Week 10 Make-Up Race at Oglethorpe Speedway Park in Savannah, GA and Eddie Morris of Savannah, GA won the Week 11 race on Friday night.

              Other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Saturday night Week 11 winners were Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Bronson Berry of Huntingdon, TN at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN.   Billy Flannagan Jr. of Tuscumbia, AL was the Saturday night winner at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL

            Also posting Saturday night Week 11 Late Model victories were Darin Patrick of Chatham, LA at Chatham Speedway in Chatham, LA, two-time Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model Regional Champion Jim McDuffie of Meridian, MS at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS, and Dustin Harris of Flintville, TN at Winchester Raceway Park in Winchester, TN.
           
            Ray drove to his fifth Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division win of the season on Friday night at Columbus Speedway. Ray has an eight-point lead in the National point standings over Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL. Ray and Fortner are fifth and seventh respectively on the WPA list at 47.27 for Ray, and 46.54 for Fortner.
           
            Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS continued his winning ways in Week 11 Street Stock competition with his ninth and tenth victories of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway and on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway. Idom is at the top of the WPA list at 49.80, and he is third in the National point standings with one less week of racing that Lee and Fortner.
           
            Steve Maughan is fourth in the National Street Stock point standings and got his third win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway.  Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is second on the WPA list at 47.90 and he is fifth in the National point standings. Trevor Woodard of Mt. Pleasant, TN is third on the WPA list and 17th in the National Standings after seven weeks of racing.
           
            Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL took a pair of Durrence Layne Street Stock victories in Week 11 to bring his win total up to seven. Winkles had a Friday night victory at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL, and then won again on Saturday night at ECM Speedway. Winkles is eighth in the National point standings and tenth on the WPA list.
           
            Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS was a Friday night Week 11 Street Stock winner at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS. Justin Hamilton of Crestview, FL won on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL, and Colby Brandon of Trezevant, TN took the Saturday night win at Camden Speedway.
           
            Other Saturday night Durrence Layne Street Stock winners were Cameron Metts of Albany, GA at Needmore Speedway in Norman Park, GA, Casey Hobson of Chatham, LA at Chatham Speedway, Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS at Whynot Motorsports Park, and Mark Haddon of Winchester, TN at Winchester Speedway.
           
            Ratcliff drove to his second Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park. Ratcliff is the only driver in the Division to have raced in all 11 weeks of the season. He has a 34-point lead in the National standings over Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL. Ratcliff is tenth on the WPA list at 44.91, and Mitchell is fifth at 46.
           
            Blake Ray of Russellville, AL captured his first Late Model Sportsman win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway and moved up to fourth in the point standings, and he now tops the WPA list at 47.78. Ray has competed in nine of the first 11 weeks of the season. One has to drop down in the point standings to the 14th and 15th spots to find the second and third-place drivers on the WPA list.
           
            Todd Clemmons is second on the WPA list at 47.42 and Randy Alexander is third on the WPA at 46.57. Both drivers have raced for seven weeks. Haden Duncan of Leighton, AL is fourth on the WPA list and he won on Friday night at Moulton Speedway.   Also winning on Friday night was Jamie Pickard of Columbus, MS at Columbus Speedway.
           
            Other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 11Weekly Racing Series winners on Saturday night were Dakota Berry of Huntingdon, TN at Camden Speedway and Ty Roberts of Birmingham, AL at ECM Speedway.
           
            Ryan Sawyers drove to his second straight Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division win of the season in Week 11 action at Camden Speedway on Saturday night. Oakley Gillespie took his second win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Gillespie is fifth in the National Standings, and fifth on the WPA list.
           
            Three of the top four drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division did not compete in Week 11 action due to a rainout in the middle of the Saturday night program at Talladega Short Track. Andy Davis holds a five-point lead in the National standings over Ron Bailey, who used a third-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway to move up to the second spot.
           
            Davis at 38.88 and Bailey at 38.25 have both competed in eight weeks of Weekly Racing Series action and are third and fourth respectively on the WPA list. Chris Yarbrough is third in the National points and leads the WPA standings at 39.14.  Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is fourth in the National standings and second on the WPA list at 39. Yarbrough and Angle have competed for seven weeks.
           
            With Talladega Short Track raining out in the middle of their racing program during Week 11 Saturday night action, they will run the Week 11 Make-Up Races for the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division along with their regular Week 12 program this Saturday night.
