DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 16 ROUND UP

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 16 of the 27-week 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season saw a change once again in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and more drivers hitting the 14-week mark of their season. A drivers' best 14 week totals make up their season totals.

              The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 16 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

              Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS rolled on to his eighth Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Villa South Special. Scarbrough netted on a 47 to bring his best 14-week season total to 693 points out of a possible 700.

              Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is second in the Late Model National standings. Lee used a 48 point third-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to net on a 39 and bring his best 14-week total to 672 points. Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third in the standings with a best 14-week total of 662 points.

              Russell drove to his fourth win of the season on Friday night at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL driving the Steele’s Dive Special to net on a 41. The 2012 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS finished second on Friday night at Moulton Speedway in the Steele’s Dive Special to reach the 14-week mark with 659 points, and move up to fourth in the standings.

              Braden Mitchell of Russellvile, AL is fifth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with a best 14-week total of 641 points driving the Sparks Energy Rocket. Mitchel gained seven points with a fourth-place finish at Moulton Speedway on Friday night at net on a 40.

              Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS finished 15th on Friday night at Hattiesburg, MS, and the 41 points he earned in the Tri-State Rock and Rails Special brought him to the 14-week mark of his season, and into the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division point lead. Idom now has 689 points.

              Lee Ray of Columbus, MS drove the Glenn’s BBQ Special to a second-place finish on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS to net on a 40 and bring his best 14-week total to 677 points. Ray is now second in the Street Stock National point standings.

              Bryan Fortner of Millport, MS may be the “Comeback Kid” of the 2018 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division season. Fortner barrel rolled his Forward Race Cars Street Stock on June 29 at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS. Fortner was O.K. but the race car was badly damaged. 

Fortner and his crew repaired the car, and he drove it to his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. That keeps him in the 2018 Street Stock National Championship hunt and in the third spot with a best 14-week total of 659 points. Fortner netted on a 38 to gain 12 points with a 50-point win.
Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL moved up to the fourth spot in the standings after taking his 11th win of the season on Friday night at Moulton Speedway. Winkles reached the 14-week mark of his season with the 50-point win to bring his season total to 655 points. Steve Maughan of Florence, AL netted on a 39 with a third-place finish at Moulton Speedway and is fifth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 650 points.
Bryson Mitchel of Russellville, AL continues to lead the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 676 points. Mitchell used a 49-point second-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL to net on a 25. 
Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL is second in the standings with a best 14-week total of 633 points. Crosby reached the 14-week point of his season with a third-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS reached the 14-week point of his season on Saturday night with a seventh-place finish at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Ratcliff is third in the standings with a 14-week total of 629 points.
Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth in the standings with a total of 622 points with one more week to earn full points. Haden Duncan of Leighton, AL is fifth in the standings with a 13-week total of 611 points. Duncan drove to his 11th Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division win of the season on Friday night at Moulton Speedway.
Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point leader Andy Davis of Argo, AL picked up his fourth win of the season Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. Davis has a 13-week total of 515 points. Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is second with a 12-week total of 478 points. Chris Yarbrough of Eastaboga, AL is third with a 12-week total of 473 points.
Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN is fourth in the standings with an 11-week total of 440 points. Gillespie picked up his fourth Modified Sportsman win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Ron Bailey of Huntsville, AL is fifth in the standings with an 11-week total of 435 points.
The Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 16 Top Performer Award goes to David Williamson of Seminary, MS. Williamson won both the Week 15 Make-Up Feature and the Week 16 Feature that made up the Dixie 50 for the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway.
On Thursday, we’ll look at the Top 5 Weekly Point Averages (WPAs) for the Top 20 drivers in all four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Division point standings. With just 11 weeks left in the 2018 season, the battles for the four National Championships are beginning to take shape, and we’ll also look at what the Top 5 in each Division will be trying to net on in their best 14-week totals.
