DURRENCE LAYNE CHEVROLET LATE MODEL DIVISION WEEK 17 ROUND UP

              ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Week 17 was a good one for Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS, as he drove the Villa South Special to the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division victory on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. The win put Scarbrough on top of the National point standings with ten weeks to go in the 2019 season.

              Cole Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS went into Week 17 with the point lead in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division. An 11th-place finish for Cameron on Friday night in the Cameron Motor Company Special at Hattiesburg Speedway, combined with Scarbrough’s win, dropped him to the second spot in the standings.

              Scarbrough has 607 points after four wins, 12 top five finishes, and 16 top ten finishes in 16 races over 13 weeks of competition. Cameron has 603 points after two wins, nine top five finishes, and 12 top ten finishes in 14 events over 13 weeks of racing. Both Scarbrough and Cameron have one more week to earn full points.

            Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.
           
            A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point total each week as their total for that week.
           
            The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a $10,000 point fund check and a trophy.
           
            Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL will be a driver to watch in the coming weeks in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Weekly Racing Series competition. Mitchell took his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL driving the Sparks Energy Rocket. 
           
            Mitchell is third in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with 582 points after six wins, 14 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 15 races over 12 weeks of competition. Mitchell has two more weeks to earn full points before he reaches the 14-week mark of his 2019 season.
           
            Jason Jarrell of Hattiesburg, MS is fourth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with 574 points after one win, 14 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 15 events over 12 weeks of racing. Jarrell drove the Jarrell Racing Rocket to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. Jarrell still has two more weeks to earn full points.
           
            Matthew Brocato of Muscle Shoals, AL drove the Valley Metal Fabricators Specials to a third-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway and is fifth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division point standings. Brocato has 571 points after seven top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 15 races over 13 weeks of competition. Brocato still has one more week to earn full points.
           
            In other Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Week 17 action, Christian Hanger of Winchester, TN drove the Hanger Racing CVR to victory on Friday night in the Back The Blue Sheriff Tommy Hickerson Memorial Race at Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN.
           
            On Saturday night, Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL won the Bobbie Jean Joiner Memorial Race in honor of his aunt at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL. Joiner drove the “4 Sale” Special to his second win of the 2019 Weekly Racing Series season. Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN took a 40-point win on Saturday night driving the Ronnie Cooper Trucking Special at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN.
           
            Drew Collins was a first-time winner on Saturday night in Durrence Layne Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model action at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA. Cliff Ross of Florence, MS took his third win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in the KB Motorsports Special. 
           
            Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series regular T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL drove the Brittain Hauling Warrior to the win on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Spencer Hughes of Meridian, MS was the winner on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS driving the B.J.’s tire and Service Center Special.
           
            Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division action at Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN was rained out on Saturday night.

              ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Week 17 of the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division Weekly Racing Series season opened on Friday night with Wyatt Hill of Finley, TN picking up the $1,000 top prize by driving the Hill Farms Special to victory in the Back The Blue Sheriff Tommy Hickerson Memorial Race at Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN.

              That was the first of a nine-race Week 17 schedule for the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division. Spencer Hughes of Meridian, MS was also a Friday night winner with a victory at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS driving the B.J.’s Tire and Service Center Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.

              Mike Lane of Wing, AL posted his sixth Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division win of the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL driving the Lane Racing Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. The win moved Lane into the Top 5 of the National point standings.

            Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL was the winner Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS in the Boland Performance Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Three Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division Week 17 races were rained out, and they were on Friday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, and Saturday night races at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL and at Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, TN.
           
            Dylan Hamilton of Cantonment, FL remains the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National point leader. The 14-year-old driver has a best 14-week total of 671 points after a fifth-place finish to net on a 41 on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in the Hamilton Motorsports Special.
           
            Hayden Moran of Covington, LA is second in the Street Stock National standings with a 14-week total of 663 points. Moran reached the 14-week mark of his season with a second-place run on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in the We Buy Junk Cars Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine.
           
            Doug Taylor of Angie, LA moved up to the third spot in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings with a 41-point 19th-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in his final week to earn full points. Taylor now has a 14-week total of 621 points.
           
            Joseph Nicholson of Fort Walton Beach, FL finished seventh on Saturday night at Southern Raceway to earn 44 points and net on a 34. Nicholson is fourth in the National standings with a 14-week total of 618 points. Lane is fifth in the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National standings with 609 points and one more week to earn full points before hitting the 14-week mark.

              ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The battle for the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division National Championship tightened up after Week 17 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series action over the weekend. Luke Riddle of Hartselle, AL saw his point lead over defending National Champion Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN shrink to just four points.

              Gillespie finished second on Friday night at Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, TN to earn 49 points in the Rounder’s Sports Bar and Grill Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Gillespie has 620 points after five wins, 15 top five finishes and 16 top ten finishes in 17 races over 13 weeks of competition.

            Riddle had his worst finish of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL with a seventh-place effort in the Morgan Machine Special powered by a $3,595 Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine. Riddle has 624 points after seven wins, 16 top five finishes and 17 top ten finishes in 17 events over 13 weeks of racing.

DURRENCE LAYNE CHEVROLET LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN DIVISION WEEK 17 ROUND UP

              ADAIRSVILLE, GA - Austin Steele of Moulton, AL drove the S&S Automotive Rocket to his first Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division victory of the 2019 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. The Week 17 win moved Steele up to the ninth spot in the Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings.

              Brian Jones of Richland, MS took his second Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS driving the Phil Moore Buick, GMC GRT. Rex Berry of Huntingdon, TN claimed his second win of the season on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN in the 22 Auto Salvage Special.

              Justin Angle of Anniston, AL collected his third Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL in the Randy’s Tree Service Special. Tyler Burgess of Olive Branch, MS drove the Burgess Outdoor Power Rocket to his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS. 

            The Friday night Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division Week 17 race at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS was rained out, the Saturday night Week 17 race at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL was also rained out.

              Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point leader after the first 17 weeks of the 27-week Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season. Mitchell has 614 points after seven wins, 12 top five finishes, and 15 top ten finishes in 17 events over 13 weeks of racing. 

            Mitchell still has one more week to earn full points before hitting the 14-week mark of his season. Mitchell finished second on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in the Sparks Energy Rocket. Mitchell has a 54-point lead over Cruz Wallace of Tuscumbia, AL in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings.
           
            Wallace brought his total up to 560 points after driving the Toyota of the Shoals Special to a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Wallace has two wins, ten top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 16 races over 12 weeks of competition. Wallace still has two more weeks to earn full points before hitting the 14-week mark of his 2019 season.
           
            Drivers racing in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events compete for both a Track point fund and a National point fund. Drivers compete against drivers racing at Durrence Layne Racing sanctioned tracks across the country using a National points system over a 27-week season that concludes on September 29.
           
            A driver’s best 14 weekly point totals count as their season total. Once a driver reaches 14 weeks of competition, they start trying to net points by replacing the lowest weekly total among their best 14 weekly totals with a higher one. A driver can only count their best point finish each week as their total for that week.
           
            The top ten drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National point standings will earn a seat at the Durrence Layne Racing Annual Awards Banquet to receive a point fund check and a trophy.
           
            Brian Murray of Russellville, AL is third in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with 553 points after one win, one top five finish, and ten top ten finishes in 14 races after 13 weeks of competition. Murray had an 11th-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in the Tires & More GRT, and he has one more week to earn full points.
           
            Morgen Lambert of Booneville, MS did not compete in Week 17 action and is now fourth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with 532 points. Lambert has one win, nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 15 driving the Rae Trucking Special over 12 weeks of Competition. Lambert has two more weeks to earn full points.
           
            Blake Ray of Russellville, AL and Heather Lowe of Warrior, AL are tied for the fifth spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National standings with 514 points apiece. Ray has the tie-breaker advantage with number of wins.
           
            Ray has two wins, nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 14 events over 11 weeks of racing. Ray finished 12th on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in the Shoals Heating and Air TNT, and he has three more weeks to earn full points.
           
            Lowe has four top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 20 races over 12 weeks of competition. Lowe still has two more weeks to earn full points, and drove the McKleroy Motorsports Warrior to an eighth-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.
