DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 18 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – The Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series reached a milestone after Week 18 competition of the 27-week 2018 season. Among the four Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Divisions, a total of 1,012 difference drivers have seen action at 30 tracks in eight states.

              The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 18 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

              Week 18 action in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division saw Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS remain the point leader despite failing to gain any points. Scarbrough finished second on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS, but since he is trying to net on a 49, Scarbrough has to win a 50-point race with eight or more cars to build on his best 14-week total of 694 points.

              Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS took his sixth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS to net on a 43 and he is second in the Late Model standings with a best 14-week total of 678 points. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third with a best 14-week total of 675 points after a fourth-place finish at Hattiesburg Speedway to net on a 44.

              The 2012 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS could not gain on a 46 after an 8th-place finish on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Washington is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 672 points. Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS is fifth with a best 14-week total of 667 points. Arnold finished fourth at Greenville Speedway to net seven points off a 40.

              Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS continues to lead the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division standings with a best 14-week total of 698 points out of a possible 50. Idom finished eighth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway and failed to net on a 48. 

            Lee Ray of Columbus, MS gained some points on Idom after the second place driver in the Street Stock points drove to his tenth win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway and was able to net on a 47. Ray now has a best 14-week total of 689 points. Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is third in the standings with a best 14-week total of 668 points. Fortner finished fourth on Saturday night at The Mag and netted on a 43. 
           
            Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS used is final week to earn full points to turn in a 45-point sixth-place finish on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. Blount is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 665 points. Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL is fifth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 663 points. Winkles did not compete in Week 18 action.

              The battle for the point lead in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division is red hot, as Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL and Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL are just a few points apart. Mitchell leads with a best 14-week total of 682 points after he gained three points with a second-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL.

              Mitchell netted on a 46, but the second-place Duncan was the big net winner. Duncan took his 13th win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway and netted 15 points on a 35. Duncan now has a best 14-week total of 676 points. Blake Ray of Russellville, AL was fifth on Saturday night at NAS to net two points off a 44. 

            Ray is third in the standings with a best 14-week total of 672 points. Cole Brown used his first post 14-week of competition to net 19 points on a 25 with a 6th-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. Brown is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 657 points. 
           
            Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL stayed in the Top 5 of the Late Model Sportsman point standings with his second win of the 2018 season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to net on a 41 and gain nine points. Crosby is fifth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 650 points.

              Andy Davis of Odenville, AL leads the Durrence Layne Modified Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 568 points. Davis took a 39-point second-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to net three points off a 36.

              Justin Angle of Anniston, AL drove to his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in his final week to earn full points. The 40-point victory brought his season total to 567 points, one point behind Davis. Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN took a 49-point second-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway to move into the third spot.

              Gillespie has 529 points and one more week to earn full points. Chris Yarbrough of Eastaboga, AL is fourth in the Modified Sportsman Division standings with 521 points, and Ron Bailey of Huntsville, AL is fifth with 435 points. Neither Yarbrough nor Bailey competed in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 18 action.
