DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 19 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 19 of the 27-week 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season saw two of the four Divisions end the weekend’s competition with new point leaders, and one driver now has a perfect season with a best 14-week total of 700 points.

              The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 19 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

              Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS still leads the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with a best 14-week total of 694 points. There were no 50-points wins with fields of eight or more cars in Week 19 competition for Scarbrough. Therefore, there were no points for Scarbrough, as he failed to net on a 49.

              Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is second in the Late Model standings and took his seventh win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS to net on a 43 and bring his best 14-week total to 685 points. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and the 2012 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS are tied for third with 675 points.

              Lee was unable to net on a 46 in Week 19 competition, while Washington finished second on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway to net on a 46. Lee has the tiebreaker advantage with two wins to one win for Washington. Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS is fifth with a best 14-week total of 674 points after finishing third on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway to net on a 41.

              Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS drove to his 15th Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. That victory netted on a 48 and brought Idom’s best 14-week total to a perfect 700 points. With eight weeks left in the 2018 season, Idom has earned all of the points he can, and will now work on his win total in case of a tie.

              Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second in the Street Stock standings with a best 14-week total of 689 points. Ray failed to net on a 48 in Week 19 competition. Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL and Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL are tied for the third spot in the standings, as each driver has a best 14-week total of 668 points.

              Winkles was able to net on a 40 with a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN. Fortner was unable to net on a 44 in Week 19 action. Winkles has the tiebreaker advantage with 11 wins to four wins for Fortner. Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is fifth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 667 points after a sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS to net on a 43.

              Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL took over the point lead in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division after competing in Double Features on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. Duncan drove to his 14th win of the 2018 season in the Week 3 Make-Up Race to net on a 40, and followed that up in the Week 19 Feature with a fourth-place finish to net on a 42. Duncan now has a best 14-week total of 691 points.

              Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is now second in the Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 685 points. Mitchell did not net on a 47 in the Week 3 Make-Up Feature at North Alabama Speedway, but he came back and won the Week 19 Feature. Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is third in the standings with a best 14-week total of 672 points.

              Ray was unable to net on a 45 in Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 19 competition. Cole Brown of Cullman, AL rang up his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL to net on a 41. Brown is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 666 points. 

            Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL is fifth in the Late Model Sportsman National standings with a best 14-week total of 658 points. Crosby finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL to net on a 41.
           
            Justin Angle of Anniston, AL took his seventh win of the 2018 season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to take over the National point lead in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. Angle was able to net on a 37 to bring his best 14-week total in the standings to 580 points.
           
            The top three drivers in the Modified Sportsman standings are separated by three points. Andy Davis of Odenville, AL finished second on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to net on a 38 and bring his best 14-week total to 579 points. 
           
            Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN finished second on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in his last week to earn full points. Gillespie now has a 14-week total of 578 points. Chris Yarbrough of Eastaboga, AL did not compete in Week 19 action, but remains fourth in the standings with a 13-week total of 521 points. 
           
            Casey Dunavan of Medina, TN moved up to the fifth spot in the Modified Sportsman standings with a third-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Dunavan now has an 11-week total of 463 points. 
           
            North Alabama Speedway will have Double Features this Saturday night for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. The first feature will be a Week 3 Make-Up Race, and the second race will be the regularly scheduled Week 20 Race.
