TENNESSEE DOUBLE RACING WEEKEND FOR DURRENCE LAYNE DLMS

              ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series returns to action this Friday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, TN and this Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN for Rounds 9 and 10 of the 2019 season. The top drivers from six different states are expected for this Tennessee double racing weekend.

            The series returns to Smoky Mountain Speedway for a $2,000-to-win $200-to-start race on Friday night, and then visits Duck River Raceway Park on Saturday night for a $2,500-to-win $250-to-start race.
           
            The complete payout for Friday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway is as follows: 1. $2,000; 2. $1,000; 3. $700; 4. $550; 5. $500; 6. $425; 7. $375; 8. $350; 9. $325; 10. $300; 11. $275; 12. $250; 13. $225; 14-24. $200.
           
            The complete payout for Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park is as follows: 1. $2,500; 2. $1,250; 3. $850; 4. $700; 5. $650; 6. $550; 7. $500; 8. $450; 9. $400; 10. $375; 11. $350; 12. $300; 13. $280; 14. $250; 15-24. $250.
           
            The Friday night race will mark the second visit of the season for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series to Smoky Mountain Speedway. Two-time series National Champion Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN took the win at the historic track on June 29. The series will make its first visit to Duck River Raceway Park since 2007 on Saturday night. 
           
            Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point leader going into the Tennessee double racing weekend. Knowles has 746 points after two wins, six top five finishes, and eight top ten finishes in eight races. Knowles has a 38-point lead in the standings over second-place.
           
            Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is second in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National standings with 708 points. The 17-year-old 2013 VP Racing Fuels Young Gun Challenge Series Champion is fresh off his first series win of the season on July 6 at Cochran Motor Speedway in Cochran, GA to go with five top five finishes and seven top ten finishes in eight starts.
           
            Skinner also leads the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings after the first eight races of the 2019 season. Skinner has a 62-point and 64-point advantage over the next two drivers in the standings, known as the Hohenwald Gang.
           
            Hohenwald, TN drivers Oakley Johns and Tyler Wood are third and fourth respectively in the point standings. Johns has 646 points after two top five finishes and four top ten finishes in eight starts, and Wood has five top ten finishes in eight races. 
           
            Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, GA is fifth with 640 points after one win, four top five finishes and six top ten finishes in seven stars. Herrington is also second in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings. 
           
            T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL is sixth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National standings with 626 points. Brittain has one top five finish and four top ten finishes in eight races this season.
           
            Jake Rainey of Hiram, GA is seventh in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 620 points. Rainey has one top five finish and three top ten finishes in eight starts. The 15-year-old driver is also third in the VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series points and the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year standings.
           
            Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS is eighth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 598 points after one top five finish in eight starts. Donald Johns of Summertown, TN is ninth with 378 points, and Jadon Frame of Decherd, TN rounds out the top ten with 362 points.
           
            Among the other top competitors expected this weekend are two-time series winner this season John Ownbey of Cleveland, TN, Corey Dunn of Milledgeville, GA, Jimmy Elliott of Cleveland, TN, Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN, Christian Hanger of Winchester, TN, Eli Beets of Knoxville, TN, Jensen Ford of Piney Flats, TN, and Greg Martin of Oliver Springs, TN.
           
            On Friday at Smoky Mountain Speedway, the pit gate opens at 4 p.m. with Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. with Hot Laps scheduled for 7 p.m. and racing to follow.
