HALL LEADS VP RACING FUELS YOUNG GUNS CHALLENGE SERIES POINTS

ADAIRSVILLE, GA – Brock Hall of Ethridge, TN leads the VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series point standings with a 47-point advantage over Travis Smith of Decatur, AL. The VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series is a series with a point fund for Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model drivers 18 years of age and under that compete in the National Tour and the Weekly Racing Series.

Hall is a 17-year-old driver that has 498 points after competing in 12 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events with two wins, eight top five finishes and nine top ten finishes. Smith is an 18-year-old driver with 451 points that has competed in 11 races with two top five finishes and seven top ten finishes.

Jake Rainey of Hiram, GA is third in the VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series standings with 420 points. The second-generation 15-year-old driver has competed in ten Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Touring events with one top five finish and three top ten finishes. Rainey is also eighth in the current National Touring point standings.

Parker Martin of McIntyre, GA is fourth in the VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series point standings. The 14-year-old driver has 340 points after one win, three top five finishes and four top ten finishes in eight races. Pace Cameron of Hattiesburg, MS is fifth with 304 points. The 18-year-old driver has one top five finish and seven top ten finishes in seven Weekly Racing Series races.

The VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series uses the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series point system that awards 50 points for a win with a car count of eight or more, and then one point less for each position back to tenth. Drivers finishing tenth on back that start the feature race get 41 points. For car counts less than eight, the winner gets 40 points, with one point less per position.

If a driver attempts to race, but does not compete in the main event, 25 show-up points are awarded.  Like the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series, the VP Racing Fuels Young Gun Challenge Series counts a driver’s best 14 finishes as their season total.
