DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 21 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – There was limited action in Week 21 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series competition, as Mother Nature rained out ten of the 15 scheduled races. Just a few drivers in the Top 20 of the National point standings were able to earn and net points in the four weekly Divisions.

              The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 21 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

              The 6th Annual Southern Street Stock Nationals at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS for the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division brought 133 race cars from across the nation. The field was divided up into six Qualifying Features on Friday night that counted as Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National points.

              The window of opportunity is beginning to close for competitors trying to challenge Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS for the National Championship. Idom has accumulated a perfect 14 50-point wins for a perfect total of 700 points. Idom drove to his 16th win of the season on Saturday night at Southern Raceway in Milton, FL.

              There are six weeks left in the season, and there will be no more Double Feature opportunities after Week 25 of the 27-Week season. Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second in the Street Stock standings with a best 14-week total of 690 points. Ray failed to net on a 48 after a 16th-Place finish in his feature race on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.

              Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL was able to net on a 43 with a fourth-place finish in his Friday night feature at Whynot Motorsports Park.  Winkles is third in the standings with a best 14-week total of 680 points. 

            Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 671 points. Blount was able to net on a 45 with a fourth-place finish in his Friday night feature at Whynot Motorsports Park. Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is fifth in the Street Stock standings with a best 14-week total of 668 points. Fortner was not able to net on a 44 with a 19th-place finish in his Friday night feature at Whynot Motorsports Park.
           
            The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division was also in action on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park. Point leader Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS was unable to net on a 49 with an eighth-place finish. Scarbrough has a best 14-week total of 694 points. 
           
            Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is second with a best 14-week total of 688 points. Russell wasn’t able to net on a 46 after a 15th-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS was able to net on a 45 with a third-place finish on Friday night at Whynot Motorsports Park. Arnold now has a best 14-week total of 683 points.
           
            Chase Walls of Decherd, TN is fourth in the Late Model standings with a best 14-week total of 680 points. Walls netted on a 44 Saturday night with a fourth-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. 
           
            Seth McCormack of Muscle Shoals, AL and the 2012 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Chase Washington of Houlka, MS are tied for the fifth spot in the Late Model standings with each driver having a best 14-week total of 679 points. McCormack has the tiebreaker advantage with four 50-point wins to two 50-point wins for Washington.
           
            McCormack netted on a 41 with a second-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Washington was unable to net on a 47 after an eighth-place finish on Saturday night at NAS.
           
            Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL got a little close to a perfect best 14-week total of 700 points as the point leader of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division. Duncan finished second on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway to net on a 47, and bring his best 14-week total up to 696 points, four points away from a perfect season.
           
            Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL drove to his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway to net on a 48. Mitchell is second in the Late Model Sportsman standings with a best 14-week total of 688 points. 
           
            Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is third with a best 14-week total of 676 points. Ray was unable to net on a 46 after a 15th-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Cole Brown of Cullman, AL is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 675 points, and Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL is fifth with a best 14-week total of 666 points. Neither Brown nor Crosby competed in Week 21 action.
           
            Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division point leader Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN netted on a 37 with a 39-point second-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway. Gillespie leads the “Mod Squad” National standings with a best 14-week total of 603 points. 
           
            Justin Angle of Anniston, AL did not compete in Week 21 action, but remains second with a best 14-week total of 592 points. Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL reached the 14-week point of his season with a 37-point fourth-place finish. That moved Terrell up to the third sport in the Modified Sportsman Division standings with 590 points.
           
            Andy Davis of Odenville, AL is fourth in the Modified Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 589 points. Casey Dunavan of Medina, TN is fifth in the standings with 559 points and one more week to earn full points. Neither Davis nor Dunavan competed in Week 21 action.
