DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 22 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – The battle for the 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model Championship is on! Week 22 action brought two new title contenders into the Top 5 of the point standings, and with five weeks to go in the season, they are separated by just 11 points. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS now has a two-point lead in the Championship battle.

              The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 21 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

            Double Features and Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Week 22 wins for Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS, Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS, and the defending Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National Champion Josh Leonard of Gibbon, NE have brought them into title contention.

              Scarbrough has been stuck at his best 14-week total of 694 for several weeks, as the point leader has been unable to post a victory and net on a 49 to increase his point total. Scarbrough finished third on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS.

              Ellis drove to his 12th win of the season on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS in his 14th week of competition to bring his season point total to 692 points. That ties him with Russell, who picked up his eighth win of the season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Russell netted on a 46 to bring his best 14-week total to 692 points.

              Leonard finished 5th in the Week 21 Make-Up Race on Saturday night at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE, and then came back to take his tenth win of the season in the Week 22 feature race. Leonard was able to net on 41s in each race to bring his best 14-week total to 685 points and climb into the fourth spot in the Late Model standings.

              Tootie Arnold of Meadeville, MS is fifth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division standings with a best 14-week total of 683 points. Arnold finished fifth on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway and was unable to net on a 47.

              Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS is still sitting on top of the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division with a perfect 700 points. Idom finished ninth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway. Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is nine points back in the second spot with a 14-week total of 691 points. Ray finished second on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway to net on a 48.

              Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL is third in the Street Stock standings with a best 14-week total of 680 points. Winkles did not compete in Week 22 action. David Williamson of Seminary, MS moved up to the fourth spot in the standings with his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway. 

            Williamson net on a 42 to bring his best 14-week total to 673 points. Michael Blount of Sumrall, MS is fifth in the Street Stock standings with a best 14-week total of 671 points. Blount finished 11th on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway and was unable to net on a 46.
           
            Hayden Duncan gained a point with a third-place finish on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL to increase his leading total in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 697 points. Duncan is three points away from a 700 point perfect season.
           
            Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL stayed within seven points of Duncan after taking his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway and netting on a 48. Mitchell is second in the standings with a best 14-week total of 690 points. 
           
            Cole Brown of Cullman, AL moved up to the third spot in the Late Model Sportsman Division standings after taking his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL and netting on a 41. Brown now has a best 14-week total of 684 points. Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 676 points.
           
            Ray finished sixth on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway and failed to net on a 46. Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL is fifth in the Late Model Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 671 points. Crosby finished third on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL to net on a 43.
           
            Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN continues to lead the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 614 points. Gillespie finished second on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway to net on a 38. Justin Angle of Anniston, AL and Casey Dunavan of Medina, TN are tied for the second spot with a best 14-week total of 604 points apiece.
           
            Angle took his ninth win of the season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to net on a 38. Dunavan finished sixth on Saturday night at Camden Speedway in Camden, TN in the 14th week of his season and the last week to earn full points. 
           
            Andy Davis of Odenville, AL and Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL are tied for the fourth spot in the Modified Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 598 points. Davis finished fourth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track to net on a 38. Terrell finished sixth on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway to net on a 37.
