DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 25 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 25 of the Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season saw Hayden Duncan of Leighton, AL clinch the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division National Championship. With two weeks to go in the season, Duncan has turned in a best 14-week total of 697 points with 15 wins, 23 top five finishes, and 26 top ten finishes in 28 races.

              The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 25 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

              None of Duncan’s competitors for the title can reach his best 14-week total in the final two weeks of the 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season. Duncan traveled to Camden Speedway in Camden, TN on Saturday night where he finished eighth, and he was unable to net on a 48.

              Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is second in the Late Model Sportsman standings with a best 14-week total of 693 points. Mitchell finished second on Saturday night at Camden Speedway to net on a 48. Cole Brown of Cullman, AL is third with a best 14-week total of 687 points. Brown did not compete in Week 25 action.

              Blake Ray of Russellville, AL took his fourth Late Model Sportsman Division win of the season on Saturday night at Camden Speedway to net on a 47 and bring his best 14-week total to 685 points. Ray is fourth in the standings. Tony Shelton of Steens, MS is fifth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 677 points. Shelton did not compete in Week 25 action.

              Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS took Week 25 off after clinching the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division National Championship last week. Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS, however, broke a tie for second in the standings with his 12th win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway to net on a 49. Russell now has a best 14-week total of 695 points.

              Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS is third in the Late Model Division standings with a best 14-week total of 694 points. Scarbrough finished second in the Week 18 Make-Up Race on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway and was unable to net on a 49. 

              Cory Dumpert of York, NE moved up to the fourth spot in the Late Model Division standings after starting out a three-win weekend on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS. Dumpert was able to net on a 47 and bring his best 14-week total to 689 points. Dumpert then went on to win on Saturday night at 81 Speedway in Wichita, KS, and on Sunday night at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE.

              The 2017 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model National champion Josh Leonard of Gibbon, NE is fifth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 687 points. Leonard finished tenth in the Week 8 Make-Up Race on Saturday night at Junction Motor Speedway and was unable to net on a 46.

              Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS took Week 25 off after clinching the 2018 Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division National Championship two weeks ago. Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is second in the standings with a best 14-week total of 692 points. Ray finished second on Saturday night in the Week 18 Make-Up Race at Jackson Motor Speedway and failed to net on a 49.

              David Williamson of Seminary, MS had a big points weekend in Week 25 action on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway, as he won the Week 18 Make-Up Race to net on a 46, and then won the Week 25 Race to net on a 47. Williamson is third in the Street Stock Division standings with a best 14-week total of 690 points.

              Chad Winkles of Hartselle, AL is fourth in the standings with a best 14-week total of 682 points. Winkles did not compete in Week 25 action. Mark Haddon of Winchester, TN is the driver that came from “out of the weeds” to explode from outside the Top 20 in points  to the fifth spot.

            Haddon used his 14th and final week to earn full points to come home with a 49-point second-place finish on Saturday night at Duck River Raceway Park in Lewisburg, TN. Haddon now has a 14-week total of 676 points.
           
            There is still one Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series National Championship to be decided, and that’s in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division. Oakley Gillespie of Five Points, TN is the point leader with a best 14-week total of 633 points. Gillespie had a 48-point third-place finish on Saturday night at Camden Speedway to net on a 39.
           
            Andy Davis of Odenville, AL is second in the Modified Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 615 points. Davis raced to a 45-point sixth-place finish on Saturday night at Camden Speedway to net on a 39. Casey Dunavan of Medina, TN is third with a best 14-week total of 614 points. Dunavan finished 11th on Saturday night at Camden Speedway to net on a 36.
           
            Tracy Terrell of Russellville, AL is fourth in the Modified Sportsman Division standings with a best 14-week total of 608 points. Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is fifth with a best 14-week total of 607 points.  Neither Terrell nor Angle competed in Week 25 action.
