KING OF THE CRATES AT NORTH ALABAMA SPEEDWAY NEXT FOR DURRENCE LAYNE LATE MODELS

              CARTERSVILLE, GA – The stretch drive for the 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Championship begins with the $5,000-to-win 2nd Annual King of the Crates 60 this Friday night and Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. The two-day show is Round 10 of the 2018 season.

              The defending and two-time Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN will lead a star-studded field of drivers into the King of Crates as the current point leader. Hedgecock is also the defending race champion. King Cory I has 846 points with two wins, seven top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in nine starts.

              The Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point leader 18-year-old Ashton Winger of Senoia, GA is second overall in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National point standings with 798 points. In nine races, Winger has two wins, five top five finishes, and six top ten finishes.

              Second-generation driver Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is third in the standings with 752 points. Knowles has two wins, four top five finishes and five top ten finishes in nine races. Andy Picklesimer of Ooltewah, TN is fourth with 694 points with three top five finishes. 

            Another second-generation driver Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL is fifth with 666 points and is second in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year points with three top ten finishes in nine starts. Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS is sixth with 632 points and three top ten finishes in nine starts. T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL is seventh with 626 points and one top ten finish in nine starts.
           
            Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS is eighth in the National standings and third in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year standings with 620 points and one top ten finish. Tyler Wood of Hohenwald, TN is ninth with 586 points and one top ten finish. 
           
            Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, TN rounds out the top ten in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 550 points and one top ten finish. There will also be a host of Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Late Model drivers expected for the 2nd Annual King of the Crates 60.
           
            The 2018 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division Weekly Racing Series National Champion Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS is expected to run with the National Tour at North Alabama Speedway. Ellis was the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series winner in Round 2 back in April.
           
            Also expected are Seth McCormack of Muscle Shoals, AL, Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL, Dustin Harris of Flintville, TN, Donald Johns of Summertown, TN, Dustin Stutts of Lorretto, TN, and Hayden Duncan of Leighton, TN.
           
            The on track action for the 2nd Annual King of the Crates 60 will begin on Thursday night with an open practice session from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. On Friday, the Pit Gate opens at 4 p.m. with Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. with Hot Laps to follow.
           
            Knowles Race Parts and Bodies Qualifying and Preliminary Heat Races for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series to fill the front starting spots for the $5,000-to-win 2nd Annual King of the Crates 60 will take place on Friday night. 
           
            The B-Main Races to fill the back half of the starting field for the big show and the $5,000-to-win 2nd Annual King of the Crates 60 will be contested on Saturday night. The Pit Gate opens at 4 p.m., with the Drivers Meeting at 6 p.m. and Hot Laps to follow.
