KING OF THE CRATES AWAIT THE DURRENCE LAYNE CHEVROLET DLMS AT NAS

             ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The 3rd Annual King of the Crates weekend await the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series with Rounds 13 and 14 this Friday night and Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. The Friday night race will pay $2,000-to-win and run for 40 laps.

             The $5,000-to-win 60-lap 3rd Annual King of the Crates Race will be held on Saturday night. The current Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point leader Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is the defending King of the Crates. King Jake II will be looking for his fifth win of the 2019 season to go with nine top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 12 races.

             Knowles will unload this Friday night with a 54-point lead in the Durrence Layne National Late Model standings over Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL. Skinner also leads the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings, and the 17-year-old driver will be looking for his second win of the season with eight top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 12 races.

             Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, GA is third in the Durrence Layne National standings and is second in the Cruise With the Champions Rookie of the Year points chase.  Herrington has one win with six top five finishes and nine top ten finishes in 12 races. Herrington is 84 points behind Skinner.

             The “Hohenwald Gang” will ride into North Alabama Speedway this Friday night and Saturday night with three drivers in the Top 10 of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National point standings.

             Hohenwald, TN drivers Oakley Johns and Tyler Wood are fourth and fifth respectively in the Durrence Layne National points chase. Johns trails Herrington by 16 points, and in 12 races has three top five finishes and seven top ten finishes. Wood is 20 points behind Johns and in 12 races has eight top ten finishes. Donald Johns is tenth in the point standings and has competed in all 12 races this season.

             T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL is sixth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National point standings with one top five finish and six top ten finishes in 12 races. Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS is seventh in the points chase after one top five finish in a dozen starts.

             Jake Rainey of Hiram, GA is eighth in the Durrence Layne Late Model National points with a top five finish and three top ten finishes. The 15-year-old driver is also fourth in the VP Racing Fuels Young Guns Challenge Series point standings in a series for Durrence Layne Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger. Rainey is also third in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings.

             Jadon Frame of Decherd, TN is ninth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National point standings. In just nine races, Frame has two top five finishes and four top ten finishes. Frame is fourth in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings.

             Other drivers expected this weekend are Brandon Williams of Crossville, TN, Christian Hanger of Winchester, TN, Matt Cooper of McKenzie, TN, Spencer Hughes of Meridian, MS, Chase Walls of Decherd, TN, Drew Kennedy of Lancing, TN, and Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN.

             North Alabama Speedway Late Model Champion Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL will lead a strong contingent of local favorites that also include Josh Putnam of Florence, AL, Brad Skinner of Spring Hill, TN, Ben Brocato of Muscle Shoals, AL Matthew Brocato of Muscle Shoals, AL and Jason Markewitz of Killen, AL.

             On both Friday and Saturday at North Alabama Speedway, the Pit Gate opens at 4 p.m. with Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with hot laps to follow.
