TALLADEGA NASCAR WEEKEND UP NEXT FOR DURRENCE LAYNE DLMS ADAIRSVILLE, GA – The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series will travel to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL for a double header as a part of the festive NASCAR Weekend. The action begins on Friday night with a $2,000-to-win 40-lap race, and the finale will be on Saturday night with a $2,500-to-win 50-lap event. Going into Rounds 15 and 16 of the 2019 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series season, the man with the hot hand is point leader Jake Knowles of Rome, GA. Knowles has two wins and a second-place effort in his last three starts on the National Tour. For the season, Knowles has 1,320 points, five wins, 11 top five finishes and 14 top ten finishes in 14 starts. One of Knowles five wins came at Talladega Short Track on April 26. Knowles has an 84-point lead over Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL. Skinner rolls into his home track for two races with 1,236 points and looking for his second win of the season. The 17-year-old driver has nine top five finishes, 12 top ten finishes, and he also leads the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings. Wil Herrington of Hawkinsville, GA and Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, TN are tied for the third spot in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National standings, each with 1,134 points. In 14 races, Herrington has one win, seven top five finishes, ten top ten finishes and he is second in the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings. Johns has three top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in 14 races. The leader of the “Hohenwald Gang” is just ahead of his teammate Tyler Wood of Hohenwald, TN in the National standings. Wood is fifth with 1,106 points after one top five finish and nine top ten finishes in 14 races. T.J. Brittain of Center, AL is sixth with 1,056 points after one top five finish and six top ten finishes. Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS is seventh in the Durrence Layne National Late Model standings with 1,022 points after a top five finish in 14 races. |
