“DR. DIRT” JOHNNY STOKES AND TED LACKEY TO PREPARE TST FOR VP NATIONALS

CARTERSVILLE, GA – Durrence Layne Racing has recruited the services of dirt track preparation specialists “Dr. Dirt” Johnny Stokes and Ted Lackey to prepare the 1/3-mile clay surface of Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL for the Inaugural VP Nationals on October 26-27. The VP Nationals will feature five Durrence Layne Racing Divisions together for the first time.

Stokes is the Co-Owner and Promoter of Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS. Not only is he well-known as a dirt track prep guru, but he is also known as one of the top dirt track drivers in the nation, and is the defending Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock World Champion.

Lackey is also a well-known dirt mover with C.S. Beatty Construction of Munford, AL, and will provide the equipment needed to shape Talladega Short Track into a fast, multi-groove racing surface for the VP Nationals. Lackey himself is a dirt track racer, and both he and Stokes understand what the competitors want to race on, and what the race fans want to see.

Stokes and Lackey will join the TST track preparation crew that has always given the racers a multi-groove surface to compete on at Durrence Layne Racing Special Events that include the Icebowl, the Salute To America Nationals, and the two NASCAR Weekend Nationals, plus Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series events from March through September.

The Chevrolet Performance Super Late Model Series will highlight the VP Nationals by running three main events over two days. The Chevy Super Series will run Twin $1,000-to-win 20-lap races on October 26, and then compete in the season finale, a $3,000-to-win, 50-lap race on October 27.

There will be five other racing Divisions in action during the two-day event, with the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division running a $2,000-to-win main event, and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division competing in a $1,500-to-win race.

            The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Division, the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division, and the Talladega Short Track Hot Shot Division will also be on the card for the October 27 show, and will practice on October 26.

            The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman and the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Divisions will compete in Qualifying and Heat Races on October 26, with B-Main and Feature races on October 27. Payouts for all Divisions competing in the VP Nationals will be announced soon.
