SOUTHERN 100 PAYS $10,000-TO-WIN FOR DURRENCE LAYNE CHEVROLET LATE MODELS

              CARTERSVILLE, GA – The penultimate race of the 2018 season will pay $10,000-to-win and take the cars and stars of the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series to Southern Raceway in Milton, FL for the 11th Annual Southern 100 this Friday night and Saturday night. With two races left in the season, drivers will be battling for the Top10 Points Fund-Paying spots.

              Ashton Winger of Senoia, GA will bring a 48-point lead to the Southern 100, and his Keyser Manufacturing Rocket will carry the day-glow red Advance Lazer and Machine Point Leader rear spoiler. In 13 races, Winger has 1,174 points with three wins, nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes. 

            Not only is Winger battling for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Championship to hoist the Durrence Layne Cup, but he also leads the point standings in two other high profile championships.
           
            The 18-year-old driver leads the Cruise With The Champions Rookie of the Year point standings, and the VP Racing Fuels Young Gun Challenge Series point standings for Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model drivers 18 years of age and younger.
           
            Jake Knowles of Rome, GA is second in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 1,126 points. Knowles has three wins, eight top five finishes, and ten top ten finishes in 13 races. Two-time Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series National Champion Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN is third with 1,110 points.
           
            The Top 10 drivers in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series point standings will receive money out of the point fund at season’s end. Drivers currently in the fourth through seventh spots in the point standings going into the Southern 100 are separated by just 52 points.
           
            Andy Picklesimer of Ooltewah, TN is fourth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model standings with 984 points. Bryant Marsh of Corinth, MS is fifth in the standings with 944 points, and he is second in the Rookie of the Year points. T.J. Brittain of Centre, AL is sixth with 936 points.  Jamey Boland of Cuba, AL is seventh with 932 points and is third in the Rookie points.
           
            Marcus Minga of Shannon, MS is eighth in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series standings with 918 points, and Tyler Wood of Hohenwald, TN is ninth with 858 points. Oakley Johns of Hohenwald, TN rounds out the top ten in the standings with 846 points.
           
            The Friday night portion of the Southern 100 will consist of Knowles Race Parts and Bodies Qualifying that will set the starting line-ups for the Heat Races. The Friday night Heat Races will take the top finishers and put them into the front half of the Southern 100 starting field. These can be the most intense races of the two-day event.
           
            Saturday night’s action will begin with the B-Main Races that will take the top finishers and place them in the back half of the Southern 100. The main event of Saturday night’s action will be the $10,000-to-win 11th Annual Southern 100.
           
            Race fans are encouraged to arrive early at Southern Raceway on Saturday afternoon to enter the Chevy Fan Zone between 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series drivers will be there to meet and greet the race fans, sign autographs, and pose for photo ops. The kids can compete in a coloring contest, and the Durrence Layne Racing Souvenir Trailer will also be open.
           
            On Friday, the Southern Raceway Pit Gate opens at 3 p.m. and Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Pre-Race Registration and Technical Inspection will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. and Hot Laps are scheduled for 6 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
           
            On Saturday, the Southern Raceway Pit Gate opens at 4 p.m. with Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Check-In from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Drivers Meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. and Hot Laps are scheduled for 6 p.m. with racing at 7 p.m.
