POSSUM TOWN GRAND PRIX CANCELLED DUE TO HEAVY RAIN

COLUMBUS, MS – Heavy overnight rains on an already saturated race track has forced cancellation of Saturday’s $10,000-to-win Possum Town Grand Prix for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Friday night’s program was called for rain with Street Stock Heat races still to be contested.

Durrence Layne Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series officials are working on a date for the final race of the 2018 season. Ashton Winger of Senoia, GA and Jake Knowles of Rome, GA are first and second respectively in the National point standings, separated by just ten points.

            The Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Models were able to complete their preliminary events on Friday on a track that was coming apart due to moisture from earlier rains. Track Owner/Promoter Johnny Stokes and his crew did a great job just to get the track ready for racing on Friday.

            Despite the efforts of “Dr. Dirt,” Mother Nature landed a knockout punch on Friday night and Saturday morning. The Possum Town Grand Prix marked the 11th race affected by rain this season for the Durrence Layne Chevrolet National Late Model tour.
