DURRENCE LAYNE WEEKLY RACING SERIES WEEK 14 ROUND UP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 14 of the 27-week 2018 Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series season became an important one, as drivers began reaching the 14-week mark of their season, and will now begin to net points in the coming weeks by trying to replace their lowest weekly point total with a higher one. There were also two changes of point leadership in Week 14.

              The complete Durrence Layne Weekly Racing Series Week 13 results for each track are listed below, and the complete point standings for each of the four Divisions have been posted at www.durrencelayneracing.com. That takes you to the Launch Page where you can click on the Divisions you’re looking for.

            Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model point leader Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS reached the 14-week mark of his season with his sixth win of the season on Saturday night at Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS. 
           
            Scarbrough will now take a 14-week total of 686 points and try to net on a 46. That means Scarbrough will have to finish fourth or better in a field of eight or more cars to improve his point total. Scarbrough is also the leader on the Weekly Point Average (WPA) list among the top 20 drivers in the point standings with nine or more weeks of competition at 49 out of a possible 50.
           
            Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS has moved up to the second spot in the standings, reaching the 14-week mark of his season with 663 points. Lee will now try to net on a 39. Lee has the fifth highest WPA at 47.36.
           
            Steve Russell of Pontotoc, MS is third in the Durrence Layne Late Model standings with 641 points after reaching 14 weeks of racing. Russell will be trying to net on a 37 in the coming weeks of racing. Braden Mitchell of Russellville, AL is fourth with 585 points after 13 weeks of racing and Dustin Harris of Flintville, TN is fifth with 581 points after 13 weeks of competition.
           
            Ricky Idom of Hattiesburg, MS took over the point lead of the Durrence Layne Performance Parts Street Stock Division point standings after a pair of wins on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS Idom won the Week 12 Make-Up Race, and the Week 14 feature to bring his season win total to 13. 
           
            Idom has 648 points after 13 weeks of racing, which puts him on top of the Durrence Layne Street Stock WPA list at 49.85. Steve Maughan of Florence, AL is second in the standings, reaching the 14-week mark of his season with 632 points. Maughan will now try to net on a 38 in the coming weeks of racing.
           
            Lee Ray of Columbus, MS is third with 618 points after 13 weeks of racing. Ray took his seventh win of the season on Friday night at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS, and he is third on the WPA list at 47.54. Bryan Fortner of Millport, AL is fourth in the standings with 606 points after 13 weeks of racing and is fifth on the WPA at 46.61. Jay Geddie of Ellisville, MS is fifth with 564 points after 12 weeks of racing, and he is fourth on the WPA list at 47.
           
            Bryson Mitchell of Russellville, AL is the new point leader in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division with 603 points after 13 weeks of racing. Mitchell is fourth on the Late Model Sportsman WPA list at 46.38. Brandon Crosby of Anniston, AL is second in the standings with 579 points after 13 weeks of racing and is tenth on the WPA list at 44.54.
           
            Blake Ray of Russellville, AL is third in the standings with 575 points after 12 weeks of racing and is second on the WPA list at 47.92. Ray took his third win of the season on Saturday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, AL. Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS is fourth with 539 points after 12 weeks of racing and is ninth on the WPA list at 44.91.
           
            Heather Lowe of Warrior, AL is fifth in the Late Model Sportsman standings with 532 points after 12 weeks of racing. Haden Duncan of Leighton, AL is the man on the move in the Late Model Sportsman Division, as he is sixth in the standings with 521 points after just 11 weeks of racing, and he is second on the WPA list at 47.36.
           
            Duncan has nine wins on the season and he has won five of the last six races he has run. Duncan took a pair of wins in Week 14 competition. He won on Friday night at Moulton Speedway in Danville, AL and on Saturday night at ECM Speedway in Arkadelphia, AL. 
           
            Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS has the highest WPA among the top 20 in the Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model Sportsman Division point standings at 49.25. Thrash is 16th in the standings with 394 points after eight weeks of racing. Thrash still has 13 weeks to put in six more weeks of racing to hit the 14-week mark. Thrash has five wins on the season.
           
            There were no Durrence Layne Chevrolet Modified Sportsman Division races in Week 14, as the site of their only scheduled race at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL was rained out. Week 14 Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model action at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, NE was also rained out.
           
            Along with Idom in the Street Stocks and Duncan in the Late Model Sportsman, Tootie Arnold of Meadville, MS was also a double dipper in Week 14. Arnold took a pair of Durrence Layne Chevrolet Late Model wins on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway.
