DRIVERS AND TRACKS WITH THE FASTRAK WEEKLY RACING SERIES MAKING NEWS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

               CARNESVILLE, GA – The 2017 FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series season got underway on April 1 which involves drivers competing for National points, and Divisional points.  At season’s end, the driver with the best 15 race point total will be crowned the 2017 FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series National Champion and pick up a check worth $10,000 at the Awards Banquet in January.

               Adam Smith leads the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series National standings with 158 points.  Smith, who races in Division 1 (Toccoa Raceway/Lavonia Speedway) of the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series, is the only driver that has competed in all four weeks of the season thus far.  The next 17 drivers in the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series point standings have competed for three weeks.

               Tyler Bare of Rockridge Baths, VA, who competes in Division 3 (Virginia Motor Speedway), is second in the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series National standings with 134 points.  Colby Cannon, a Division 1 racer, is third with 132 points, and another Division 1 driver, Ricky Smith is fourth with 126 points.  Division 1’s Drew Benfield is fifth with 125 points.

               The defending Division 3 Champion Justin Williams of Concord, VA is tied for the sixth spot with Derick Harvey out of Division 1, and the 2016 Futures Cup Champion Henry Hornsby III of Beckley, WV and out of Division 4 (Tyler County Speedway and Elkins Raceway) with 124 points apiece. 

Daniel Wilson from Division 1 is ninth with 116 points and Frankie Beard out of Hartwell, GA of Division 1 rounds out the top ten of the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series National standings with 113 points.  Drivers may also earn FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series points at FASTRAK National Touring races that are held at a FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series track.

               There are four different Divisions among nine tracks in the 2017 FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series.  Division 1 is represented by Toccoa Raceway in Toccoa, GA and Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, GA.  With Division 1 having put in four weeks of competition, the top six drivers in the standings, Adam Smith, Colby Cannon, Ricky Smith, Drew Benfield, Derek Harvey, and Daniel Wilson, also represent six of the top ten drivers in the National point standings.

               Larry Waters in seventh in the Division 1 standings with 112 points.  The defending FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series National Champion David McCoy of Franklin, NC is eighth with 87 points, while Parker Herring and Danny Sanders are tied for ninth with 85 points.

               Division 2 of the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series is made up of Beckley Motorsports Park in Beckley, WV, Princeton Speedway in Princeton, WV, Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA, and Lizard Creek Speedway in Hanover, WV.  There has only been one Division 2 race held in the first four weeks, and that was April 15 at Wythe Raceway.

               Tyler Arrington of Rural Retreat, VA is the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series Division 2 point leader with 43 points and Terry Cregger of Crockett, VA is second with 42 points.  Teddy Tate of Rural Retreat, VA is third with 41 points, and Tommy Eastridge is fourth with 40 points.  Brandon Shupe is fifth with 39 points, Kenny Peeples of Rural Retreat, VA is sixth with 38 points, Benji Hicks of Mt. Airy, NC is seventh with 37 points, and Brent Hilton is eighth with 11 points.

               Division 3 of the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series is represented by Bill Sawyer’s Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA, site of the $3,000-to-win Aaron’s King of the Commonwealth FASTRAK National Touring race on April 8. 

Bare leads the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series Division 3 standings with 134 points, and Williams is second with 124 points.  Mark Parks of Forest, VA is third with 112 points, and Matt Quade of Mechanicsville, MD is fourth with 110 points.  Corey Almond of Appomattox, VA is fifth with 104 points, and Davis Lipscombe Mechanicsville, VA is sixth with 96 points. 

               Walker Arthur of Forest, VA is seventh with 81 points and David Williams of Mechanicsville, MD is eighth with 77 points.  Chuck Bowie of Walton, MD is ninth with 72 points and Jared Powell of Scottsville, VA rounds out the top ten of the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series Division 3 standings with 70 points.

               Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV and Elkins Raceway in Elkins, WV make up Division 4 of the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series.  Tyler County Speedway has hosted two races thus far, and Kyle Lukon of Burgettstown, PA leads the standings with 89 points.  Sonny Conley is second with 86 points, and Hornsby is third with 81 points.

               Tyler Stutler of Lost Creek, WV is tied with Brandon Weigle for fourth in the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series Division 4 standings with 79 points apiece.  Sparky Davisson is sixth with 76 points and Garrett Jones is seventh with 71 points.  Wylie Ford and Brandon McGrady are tied for eighth with 66 points apiece, while James Watson rounds out the top ten with 64 points.

There will be four races among the four FASTRAK Weekly Racing Series Divisions in action for Week 5 competition.  Both Toccoa Raceway and Lavonia Speedway will present Division 1 events this Saturday night.  Wythe Raceway will host a Division 2 race this Saturday night.  Division 4 action will take place this Saturday night at Tyler County Speedway.
