Chris Ferguson Puts a Wrap on 2018 with a $10,000 Triumph
Tops Southern All Star Sanctioned, Palmetto 50 at Lancaster

Mt. Holly, North Carolina (11/19/18) – Chris Ferguson will be heading into the off-season with some extra change in his pocket. On Saturday night, the pilot of the Diff-Tran Machining #22 K and K Trucking/ Sweet-Bloomquist Race Car/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model streaked to the $10,000 payday with the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Sereis in the Palmetto 50 at Lancaster Speedway.

The win was his third of the 2018 season. He backed it up with a strong runner-up finish on Sunday afternoon during the Blue-Gray 100 at Cherokee Speedway.

“Our car was perfect on Saturday night at Lancaster Speedway,” Ferguson said. “I can’t thank Scott (Bloomquist) and Cody (Mallory) enough for their help. Those guys had their hauler break down about 30 minutes from the track, and even though they couldn’t get there to race, I sent a pickup truck to pick up Cody and he came and helped me.

“I thought I was going to get another big win on Sunday evening at Cherokee Speedway. We had the race won, and then a caution came out late. (Brandon) Overton had fresh tires on, and he got us. It was nothing to hang our head about, but man I wanted that win. Throw in the runner-up finish from Screven on Friday night, and we had a really solid weekend.”

On Friday evening Chris Ferguson invaded Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia), where he was competing in a field of 20 Ultimate Southeast Series entries for the Georgia State Outlaw Championship. Receiving the sixth-starting position for the $5,000-to-win A-Main via preliminary events, Ferguson gained four spots in the 50-lapper to place second behind Brandon Overton with Zack Mitchell, Brent Dixon, and Kyle Hardy trailing them to the checkers.

The following night at Lancaster Speedway (Lancaster, South Carolina) for the Southern All Star Series-sanctioned Palmetto State 50, Ferguson followed up the fourth-fastest time in his qualifying group with a fourth-place finish in his heat race.

Earning the eighth-starting position for the A-Main, Chris slipped past race-leader Zack Mitchell on lap 29 and distanced himself from the field in the remaining 21 circuits scoring his third win of the season and a $10,000 payday. Winning by over a three-second margin, Ferguson topped Michael Brown, Mike Maresca, Ross Bailes, and Brandon Overton at the line.

Sunday night found Ferguson at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina) for the Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series sanctioned Blue-Gray 100. In a field of 26 cars, Chris locked his spot into the $10,000-to-win A-Main with a heat race victory.

Rolling off on the front row for the finale, Ferguson jumped into the lead on the opening lap and held the top spot for first 38 circuits. Losing the lead to Brandon Overton, Chris bided his team before eventually wrestling the top spot away from Chris Madden on lap 75. After leading for the ensuing 17 laps, Chris Ferguson saw Overton slip past for the lead in the closing laps. He finished in the runner-up spot behind Overton with Mike Maresca, Cla Knight, and Justin Hudspeth completing the Top-5 finishers.
