Jensen Ford Visits Victory Lane at Volunteer Speedway
Set for Fastrak Action at Toccoa Raceway this Saturday
Johnson City, Tennessee (05/28/19) – After seeing his last several attempts to race thwarted by Mother Nature, Jensen Ford was finally able to return to action over the weekend in his Mike Whitehead Racing No. 83 Whitehead Construction Inc./ TNT Race Car/ Eagle Racing Engine Late Model.
Ford showed speed throughout the weekend, but the highlight came on Saturday night, when he topped the Crate Late Model action at Tennessee’s Volunteer Speedway. The victory was his second of the 2019 season.
“After being rained out the past several weeks, it was a nice change of pace to be able to get back to action this weekend,” Ford commented. “We had a strong chance to win on Friday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway, but the track was pretty rough and knocked the radiator out about 10 laps in while leading. Then, things went flawless on Saturday night at Volunteer Speedway, and we got the win. We were fast out of the box at Wythe Raceway on Sunday night, but rain got us again.
“All in all, our team was pretty pleased with our results, and we’ll look to get another win this Saturday at Toccoa.”
The weekend opened on Friday night Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee), where the American Crate All-Star Series posted a $2,000 top prize. Jensen hit the ground running by setting fast time in qualifying to earn the pole for the feature. He was leading on lap-10, when he hit a bump, knocking the radiator out. He retired to a 22nd-place finish.
On Saturday night, Ford rolled into Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee). He made a clean sweep of the program by setting fast time in qualifications before leading every lap of the feature to claim his second win of 2019. He was followed across the finish line by Rusty Ballenger, Jason Welshan, Tim Maupin and Gary Crittenden.
The holiday weekend of racing drew to a close on Sunday night at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Virginia). Ford qualified second fastest in the 24-car field for the American Crate All-Star Series event. Unfortunately, rain arrived after qualifying, forcing officials to postpone the evet until August 17.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Wheatland, Missouri (May 28, 2019) -Logan Martin is the latest Lucas Oil MLRA driver to notify series officials of his intentions to compete for the series Sunoco Race Fuels Rookie of the Year Award. Martin along with Jake Neal and Joseph Gorby will compete for the season long award which rewards the winner with $2,500 and (6) drums of Sunoco Race Fuel at seasons end.
The twenty-three year old from West Plains, MO currently sits third in the overall series standings after seven events and has already recorded thee top 5's and five top 10's to date. While the early portion of the MLRA schedule provided six new tracks for Martin, he is excited for the balance of the schedule that will provide a return to many tracks which he has previously enjoyed success.
"I feel like we can compete. Whenever we roll in I feel we can compete for wins and not just top five's. I especially feel like we are going to get a lot better once we get to some of these southern tracks," stated Martin.
As the Co-Owner/Manager of Mr. Dent Collision Repair in Seymour, MO Martin acknowledges it has been very taxing to commit to the full series schedule in past years while running and growing a business, but that the time is now right to go all in.
"We never really set out to run for points this year, we were just going to run it (MLRA) through the Show-Me. Then when we got down to it and some drivers had dropped off and we found ourselves sitting third, with a pretty decent gap back from first, but not as far back as I was expecting," commented Martin.
"We sat down as a team and looked at the schedule (MLRA) and our work schedules, and especially with the amount of cancellations and rain outs so far and with only 14 to 16 shows left and the majority of them being just Friday/Saturday, we decided that we can finish this deal out. We have made it this far and we really don't have to commit to missing work that much for the remainder of the season which makes it much easier."
The youngest of the MLRA Sunoco Rookie Drivers in 2019, Martin got his first start in racing at the age of nine in an Outlaw Go-Kart before spending the next five years competing throughout the Midwest in a Mico Sprint Car.
At just 14 years of age he made the move to the A-Modifieds where he enjoyed much success over the years. In his second year in the mod, Martin's family also acquired a B-modified which allowed for the budding star to gain additional seat time and experience, often times pulling double duty. His biggest wins came in the B-Mod when he captured the USRA Nationals title at Lakeside Speedway, as well as cashing in on the modified portion of the Larry Phillips Memorial.
Martin made the jump into the Late Models at just 20 years of age noting, "We were ready for the next challenge, and I was at a point in my life I was ready to do it and felt like I was capable to do it. We kind of jumped in with both feet and have slowly upgraded equipment and got to a point equipment wise that we felt we were ready to tackle the MLRA."
Late Model success came quicker than many expected for Martin as he grabbed his first MARS Late Model series win in 2016 at his home track in West Plains. "Our MARS win actually came in my third time in the late model. We ran 7th or 8th at Springfield in my first ever start in a late model, and then 2nd the next time out at West Plains and then won the third time out, which was kind of a big deal. It kind of surprised everybody," stated Martin.
While Logan and team plan their pursuit of the Sunoco Rookie of the Year, his fiancé Larissa Atnip has been busy coordinating the couples wedding plans with their racing schedule in mind. In true racer fashion, the duo will tie the knot on Oct. 5th, one week prior to the MLRA season finale at the Lucas Oil Speedway.
"We originally had our honeymoon going thru Fall Nationals, but luckily we changed that all before we knew we were going to run for it (MLRA), and that really helped to open the door up for us on this deal too. She's got it all laid out, so I just go with the flow," he noted.
With an eye on the prize, Martin is ready for the challenge that lies ahead. "We are definitely going for the rookie deal, no doubt about that. Jake (Neal) and (Joseph) Gorby are fast and they will be tough to beat. We would like to try and knock Vaught off that top spot but he has been super-super-fast lately. We're going to have to find a little bit more speed I think, but It's not out or the realm of possibility."
The Lucas Oil MLRA will take on the shortest track of the season this Friday May 31st when they converge on the 1/5-mile Belle-Clair Speedway. This $3,000 to win event will lead off the weekend, before wrapping up on Saturday night June 1st with a trip to Lake Ozark Speedway for the "Late Model Showdown at the Lake", yet another $3,000 to win A-Feature.

Donny Schatz A-Main Finish (Start): 2nd (6th)
2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 1st -2940 points (48-point lead over Brad Sweet)
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 28, 2019) - Despite a demanding schedule that included four events in a seven day span across much of the east coast and Midwest, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz maintained his well-known championship composure and scored a trio of top-ten finishes, two of which on the podium. Schatz’ relentless consistency has allowed the ten-time and defending World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion to maintain command in the Series championship chase by a margin of 48 points.
Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car, highlighted his recent stretch of results with a pair of runner-up finishes during action at Bridgeport (N.J.) Speedway on May 21, as well as at Lawrenceburg Speedway on May 27.
Impressive enough, each of Schatz’ podium performances carried winning potential, as he nearly attained the $10,000 victory in New Jersey by pulling even with eventual winner, Danny Dietrich, as the pair raced through turns one and two on the final circuit. In fact, Schatz worked around Dietrich to lead lap 33 of 35, but the Gettysburg-native slipped back by the defending World of Outlaws champion the following lap.
A restart with seven laps remaining gave Schatz an opportunity to claim high honors at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Monday evening, but eventual winner, Kyle Larson, proved to be too strong on the cushion in clean air. Schatz charged forward from sixth to set up his challenge for the top spot.
Despite being scored just outside of the top-ten during the Patriot Nationals finale at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Saturday, May 25, Schatz was in a winning position yet again, actually on top of the field with less than a handful of laps remaining. Unfortunately, disaster struck the Tony Stewart/Curb Agajanian Racing entry in the form of a flat right-rear tire. Luckily, a series of cautions gave Schatz the time he needed to recover for an 11th place finish.
Schatz kicked off his Patriot Nationals visit with a seventh place finish on Friday night, May 24; a positive recovery after fading back as far as 12th in the running order.
“We were in position to win so many times this week,” Donny Schatz said, who now owns 19 top-ten finishes in 21 World of Outlaws starts. “I guess you could look at that two ways; we were in position to win just about every night, but we weren’t quite good enough to seal the deal. Being in position that many times says so much about this team and what they are capable of doing. I’m lucky enough to have the opportunity to work with the best crew in the business. We have a big one coming up. Hopefully we can do one better in Nashville.”
Donny Schatz will continue his chase toward an 11th World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship on Friday and Saturday, May 31 & June 1, with a two-day stint in the Music City. Chasing a total winner’s share equalling $40,000, Schatz will visit Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway during his visit to Nashville, Tenn., aiming to sweep both nights of the inaugural Music City Outlaw Nationals. Friday’s program will award a $15,000 top prize, followed by a $25,000 winner’s share during the weekend finale on Saturday.

Rico Abreu A-Main Finish (Start): 9th (19th)
ST. HELENA, Calif. (May 28, 2019) - Despite the long, holiday weekend kicking off on a frustrating note, finishing 24th and 20th, respectively, during the two-day Patriot Nationals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte on Friday and Saturday, May 24 & 25, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu persevered and rebounded in a big way on Monday evening in southern Indiana, capping his Memorial Day weekend celebration with a ninth place finish at Lawrenceburg Speedway after starting from the inside of row ten.
Although the evening ended on a high note, resulting in his 12th top-ten finish of the 2019 season, Abreu was forced to do things the hard way on the Lawrenceburg highbanks. After falling short of a transfer position during heat race competition, the recent Sprint Car Challenge Tour winner in California was forced to race in the evening’s Last Chance Showdown. An eventual win solidified his main event starting spot.
Although Abreu’s outcomes in Charlotte were frustrating, being at the ‘wrong place at the wrong time’ contributed to most of his results. In fact, the driver of the Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing/Abreu Vineyards/Curb Records/Lucas Oil Products/Southern Pacific Farms/Priority Aviation/No. 24 sprint car was the victim of two rollovers, the first on Friday while trying to avoid a spinning car during the main event, and a second during Saturday’s heat race; left with nowhere to go as a fellow competitor spun out in front of the familiar No. 24.
The heat race incident forced Abreu to compete in Saturday’s Last Chance Showdown, eventually qualifying for the evening’s main event.
“It really wasn’t the weekend we were searching for, but I’m glad we were able to end things on a positive note,” Rico Abreu explained, who owns one victory in 2019 in addition to his 12 top-ten finishes. “That just goes to show how hard this team works. We were obviously frustrated with our results in Charlotte, but we never gave up. We took the day on Sunday to get ourselves resituated, then we went to Lawrenceburg with a clear mind. It all worked out.”
Up next on the schedule, Rico Abreu and Rico Abreu/Curb Agajanian Racing will visit Mansfield Motor Speedway in Mansfield, Ohio, for the second-ever Sprint Car World Championship on Thursday through Saturday, May 30 - June 1. The three day spectacle, kicking off with a pair of $5,000-to-win preliminaries on Thursday and Friday, will be highlighted with the $100,000-to-win Sprint Car World Championship finale on Saturday night.

Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): 1st (2nd)
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (May 28, 2019) - Recent NASCAR Hall of Fame inductee, Tony Stewart, put his open wheel team to the test over Memorial Day weekend, as the three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion entered four United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Speedweek events in four days, trekking to three different states in the process.
Despite the weekend getting activated on a weak note, finishing 12th and 21st, respectively, during starts at Greenville (Ala.) Speedway and Riverside (Ark.) International Speedway on Friday and Saturday, May 24 & 25, it was Stewart’s visit to Old No. 1 Speedway in Harrisburg, Ark., that really launched his USCS Speedweek success.
The pilot of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Toco Warranty/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 14 sprint car captured his first of two weekend victories during his visit to Old No. 1, outdueling Pennsylvania’s Mark Smith in the final circuits to clinch the very top spot on the podium. In fact, Stewart was forced to take evasive action in the final corner, dodging Mark Smith’s last-ditch effort slide job through turn four before winning a drag race back to the checkers.
Continuing his winning trend, Tony Stewart capped his four-race trek through the south with a victory at Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, Tenn., on Monday, May 27. The pair of victories bumped Stewart’s overall win count to seven thus far in 2019, four of those during United Sprint Car Series competition.
Nearly igniting his win steak one night prior, Stewart was battling for a podium spot during action at Riverside on Saturday when contact was made with an inside barrier, ultimately forcing Smoke to retire early from main event competition. Stewart climbed from 17th to fourth before making contact.
“That was a lot of fun. It certainly wasn’t easy, but this is what we live for,” Tony Stewart said. “I have a great group of guys who work very, very hard, even through all of the long nights and warm weather. Having the opportunity to stand in victory lane twice in one weekend is pretty special. I certainly wouldn’t be in this position without my team. I couldn’t be more proud.”
Tony Stewart’s plans for the upcoming weekend remain uncertain. Fans are encouraged to stay alert via social media for further updates.

Jesse Lowe Scores $3,001 Win with UCRA at The Taz
Extends Advantage Atop the Series Standings
Crossville, Tennessee (05/28/19) – Jesse Lowe claimed his biggest win of the season on Sunday night in his Xtreme Pressure Washing No. 5j Gondolas Pizza and Steakhouse/ CVR Race Car Crate Late Model. He scored a $3,001 payday for his triumph in the Melvin Corum Memorial 40 at Tazewell Speedway.
The victory with the United Championship Racing Association (UCRA) allowed him to extend his advantage atop the series standings. It marked his seventh triumph of the season.
“Man, it feels great to finally get a $3,000 win. We’ve been close in some other events, but we finally got the job done at Tazewell of all places,” Lowe laughed. “Honestly, I got really lucky because as soon as I crossed the finish line the power steering belt broke and locked the wheel up, causing me to wreck. One more lap, and we would’ve been toast.
“I want to thank each and every person, who makes my program possible. We’re going to take this weekend off to freshen our equipment, but we’ll be back next week looking for more wins.”
Friday night saw Jesse Lowe kick off the Memorial Day weekend at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tennessee) with the American Crate All-Star Series sanctioned Mayhem in the Mountains. With 35 cars registered in for action, Lowe recorded the ninth-fastest time in qualifying before capturing a heat race win.
Starting the opening night feature in the ninth position, Jesse gained five spots in the 30-lapper to record a fourth-place finish behind Jake Teague, Mark Whitener, and Greg Martin.
The following night saw Lowe hop behind the wheel of the Roger Dixon-owned No. 6D Steelhead Late Model entry for the Tom Crass Memorial at I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tennessee). In a field of 29 cars, Lowe locked his spot into the $4,000-to-win A-Main with a sixth-place finish in his heat. Rolling off the feature grid in the 18th position, Jesse passed 11 cars in the 40-lapper to place seventh.
Wrapping up the weekend, Lowe traveled to Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee) on Sunday for the United Championship Racing Alliance (UCRA) sanctioned, Melvin Corum Memorial 40.
After laying down fifth-fastest time in qualifying, Jesse cruised to a 6-lap heat race win, which positioned him second on the starting grid for the A-Main. Outrunning third-starting Mack McCarter, Jesse Lowe streaked to his seventh win of the season. He was followed across the finish line by McCarter, Brandon Williams, John Llewellyn, and Jason Trammell. He claimed a $3,001 payday for his efforts.
Jesse continues to lead the UCRA championship standings. Full results from the weekend are available at www.AmericanCrateAllStarSeries.com , www.TODLMS.com
and www.UCRARacing.com .
Jesse will be idle this weekend before returning to competition on June 7-8 with a pair of American Crate All Star Series events in Tennessee. On Friday, June 7 he’ll compete in a $2,000-to-win program at Crossville Speedway. Saturday, June 8 takes Lowe to 411 Motor Speedway for a $5,000-to-win program.
Jesse Lowe would like to thank all of his marketing partners, which include Xtreme Pressure Washing, Gondolas Pizza and Steakhouse, Hidden View Lake, Bennett Heating and Cooling, Workout Anytime (Crossville and Cookeville, Tennessee), Baisley’s Body Shop, Phantom Racing Engines, CVR Racecars, Martel Sign Company, The Clean Machine, Hyperco, Autozone, 865 Hydro Graphics, Haircuts by Mel, Hoosier Tire South, Penske Shocks by Vinny, Velocita, Butlerbuilt and MSRMafia.com Marketing Services.
Jesse would also like to say a very special thanks to Gary, Jacob, Taylor, Jerry, Jeff, and last but not least his Dad for their great help on keeping the racecar in race-winning condition.

Indiana, Pennsylvania (05/28/19) – Gregg Satterlee raced to his first win of 2019 on Friday night in his Satterlee Petroleum Distributors #22 Valvoline/ Rocket Chassis XR1/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.
The Pennsylvania native received a $3,000 check for his winning performance in the annual Johnny Grum - Turk Burket Tribute at Bedford Speedway.
“It’s been a few years since our schedule has allowed us to race at Bedford, but we’ve had success there. I think this is our third win at that place. Something about the track’s layout just really fits well into my driving style,” Satterlee noted. “Jason [Covert] gave me a run for the win on the last lap, but I was able to hold him off get the job done. Hopefully we can go back there this Friday and get another big win.”
On Friday evening Gregg Satterlee was one of 25 Super Late Models registered for action at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pennsylvania) for the Johnny Grum-Turk Burket Tribute. Starting his outing with a heat race win, Gregg earned the second-starting position for the opening night feature.
After jumping out to an early race lead, Satterlee held off a hard-charging Jason Covert in the late stages of the event to capture his first win of the season and a $3,000 payday. Covert, Jeff Rine, Andy Haus, and Matt Cosner trailed “The Truth” to the checkers in the 35-lap affair.
After Mother Nature postponed Saturday’s event to Sunday, Satterlee headed to Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pennsylvania) for the doubleheader. Drawing 38 cars for the Fallen Heroes Championship, Gregg secured his spot into the $5,000-to-win A-Main with a fourth-place finish in his heat. Starting the feature in the eighth position, Satterlee improved four spots to place fourth behind Mason Zeigler, Jason Covert, and Rick Eckert.
Later that evening for the Bob Weikert Memorial, Gregg recorded a fourth-place finish in his heat race, which positioned him 10th on the starting grid for the finale. With $5,000 on the line, mechanical issues caused Satterlee to be an early retiree from the 35-lapper. Following his lap-10 departure he was credited with a 20th-place finish.
For full results from these events, please visit www.BedfordSpeedway.com and www.PortRoyalSpeedway.com .

Mason Zeigler Parks It at Port Royal for First Win of 2019
Billy Winn Classic at Bedford Speedway Next
Chalk Hill, Pennsylvania (05/28/19) – After a handful of near misses this season, Mason Zeigler was able to pick up his first win of the season on Sunday evening in his MS Shock Therapy #25z JLE Industries/ Ohiopyle Vacation Rentals/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Zeigler’s maiden voyage to Victory Lane on the 2019 campaign came Sunday evening at Port Royal Speedway in the Fallen Heroes Championship and was worth $5,000.
“Even though we’ve only run a limited schedule so far this year, we’ve given away three wins in the final few laps. Thankfully, we were able to put it altogether at Port Royal on Sunday and get the first victory of the year,” Zeigler said. “I’m looking forward to racing more in the coming months, so hopefully this is the first of many wins to come.”
Friday night found Mason Zeigler in action at Bedford Speedway (Bedford, Pennsylvania) for the Johnny Grum-Turk Burket Tribute. In a field of 25 cars, Mason locked his spot into opening night feature with a heat race victory. Starting seventh on the grid, mechanical issues unfortunately sidelined Zeigler on the opening circuit of the 35-lapper.
After Mother Nature postponed Saturday’s event to Sunday, Zeigler invaded Port Royal Speedway (Port Royal, Pennsylvania) for a pair of features. Dustin Strand Notches First Win of 2019 at Red River Co-op Speedway

Grand Forks, North Dakota (05/28/19) – Dustin Strand took his Q&Z Plumbing & Heating #71 Keewatin Truck Service/ Walhalla Builders/ Millenium Chassis Modified to the Winner’s Circle on Thursday evening at Red River Co-op Speedway.
The win marked his first in what has been a trying 2019 season to date.
“We haven’t had the opportunity to race very much due to the weather, but when we have raced it’s been a really tough year for us,” Strand commented. “We battled mechanical problems during the Wild West Shootout back in January in Arizona, and we battled more gremlins on Saturday night.
“There’s no quit in this team though, and we’re going to keep digging until we get everything lined out. The win on Friday night was much needed and shows us that we have the right pieces in place. We just need a little luck.”

Starting the feature in the fourth position, Dustin battled with fellow Millenium Chassis pilot Lee McRae for nearly ten circuits until he took control. Strand went on to build a commanding lead en route to his first win of the season over Ward Imrie, McRae, Scott Greer, and Gavin Paull.
Mother Nature wiped out Friday's event at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, ND).
On Saturday's night at Devil's Lake Speedway (Lakota, ND) Dustin encountered mechanical problems early in the night on his Late Model that brought his outing to an early end.
