Frostbuster Race up next for Iron-Man Series at Volunteer Speedway on February 24th

BULLS GAP, TN (February 11, 2018)—The Third Annual Frostbuster Race at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn. will be ran on Saturday February 24th featuring the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Super Late Models presented by DirtonDirt.com racing for $3,500-to-win and $400-to-start plus the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Modified Series racing for $1,200-to-win and $125-to-start.

This will mark the first appearance of the Iron-Man tours to the high banks of Volunteer Speedway who will be celebrating 45 years of operation in 2018. Previous winners of the Frostbuster Race include Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, Tenn. in 2016 and Jason Welshan of Maryville, Tenn. in 2017. This will mark the second points event of the 2018 racing season. Donald McIntosh of Dawsonville, Ga. (Late Models) and Lucas Lee of Paris, Tenn. (Modifieds) claimed the season-opening victories at the Hangover Race on December 30th at 411 Motor Speedway.

The Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Models will race 40 laps for $3,500-to-win while the Brucebilt Iron-Man Modifieds will race 25 laps for $1,200-to-win. The Super Late Model tire rule will be Hoosier 1350 and 1600 along with the American Racer 48 and 56. The Droop Rule for the Super Late Models will not be in effect for this event. The Modified Tire Rule is Hoosier M30S and M60 (right-rear option) along with the American Racer Hard and Extra Hard (right-rear option). All tires can be siped starting at the February 24th event but the no grooving rule for Modified tires is still in effect.

In addition to the Late Models and the Open Wheel Modifieds racing, the Crate Late Models will race for $1,500-to-win, the Sportsman will race for $700-to-win, the Modified Streets will compete for the $700 first place prize while the Classics will compete for $500-to-win.

On Saturday February 24th, the grandstand, tier and pit gates open at 9:00 am with the driver’s meeting set for 12:00 pm and hot laps will follow at around 12:30 pm. Adult general admission is $20.00 while adult tier parking and adult pit passes are $35.00.

Directions to Volunteer Speedway: South on Interstate 81 from Tennessee/Virginia state lines, take Exit 23 (Bulls Gap/Greeneville), then turn right onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Look for track entrance approximately 200 yards on left. North on Interstate 81 from I-81/I-40 split (East of Knoxville, TN), take Exit 23, then turn left onto Hwy. 11-E at bottom of the exit ramp. Continue underneath the interstate over-pass and track entrance approximately 300 yards ahead on left.
