Big Game Motorsports and David Gravel Partner to Tackle World of Outlaws Tour in 2021

Inside Line Promotions - WINDOM, Minn. (Nov. 4, 2020) - Big Game Motorsports has signed sprint car star David Gravel to pilot the Killer Instinct Crossbows backed No. 2 in 2021.

The team plans on competing full time with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series and will debut together next February in Florida.

"I've been able to work with Tod (Quiring) when I was at CJB Motorsports," Gravel said. "He was a big sponsor there. We seemed to get along good. They've always fielded a well-funded team and first-class operation. It was just a matter of time before we were going to link up together. It seems to be the right timing."

Gravel is one of the sport's rising stars. He has earned six feature victories this year and will finish in the top 10 in the World of Outlaws championship standings for the seventh straight season. Gravel has 57 career wins with the series, which ranks 16th best all time. He has earned at least five Outlaws triumphs during six of the last seven years, including a career-best 18 victories in 2017 and a dozen last year.

It has been several seasons since Big Game Motorsports has fielded a full-time World of Outlaws car, but the Tod Quiring owned organization has enjoyed numerous successful seasons running with 'The Greatest Show on Dirt' throughout its storied career. Now Gravel has an opportunity to vie for a new feat - a World of Outlaws championship for the first time.

"I think that they've fielded a competitive car the last several years," he said. "They have a strong engine program and run the same chassis I've run the last two seasons with Jason Johnson Racing. (Crew chief) Cody (Jacobs) has shown that he can win big races. When everything is right that combination could win. You add me to the team and I feel like we should have chances to win races. As far as a championship, that's something really hard to do. You have to take it race by race, month by month. We have the potential to compete night in and night out. We have to gel, learn each other's languages and continue to grow."

Big Game Motorsports would like to thank Kerry Madsen for four seasons with the team. Madsen earned 19 feature triumphs behind the wheel of the Killer Instinct Crossbows sponsored sprint car during that time.

"We are grateful for four great years with Kerry and we wish him well in his future endeavors," Big Game Motorsports Owner Tod Quiring said. "We really like Kerry and it was a tough decision to make a change. David is one of sprint car racing's top drivers and has been an elite competitor in every car he's driven for several years. We're excited about him joining our team and we look forward to a successful 2021 campaign with the World of Outlaws."

The final event of the 2020 season is this Friday and Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the World of Outlaws Last Call with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

Dominic Scelzi Produces Top-Five Performance During Tom Tarlton Classic

Inside Line Promotions - HANFORD, Calif. (Nov. 4, 2020) - Dominic Scelzi posted his 18th top-five outing of the season last Friday during the inaugural Tom Tarlton Classic.

Scelzi piloted his family owned car during the event at Keller Auto Speedway, where he opened the night by qualifying eighth quickest out of the 30 competitors. The heat race inversion put him on the outside of the front row, side by side with Kyle Larson.

"It was greasy for qualifying and when I qualified I was second quickest, but the track got faster and we weren't able to keep that time," Scelzi said. "We ended eighth quickest, which put us on the front row in the heat. I had a good start. Kyle slid me into turn one and I was able to turn underneath him. We won the heat race, which was great."

Scelzi's heat race triumph earned a spot into the dash. He then gained a position to finish second, which lined him up on the front row for the A Main. Dash winner Carson Macedo got lane choice and chose the outside lane for the initial start of the main event.

The top lane prevailed throughout the race. Scelzi rode in second early before he began searching the track in an effort to find a way to pass for the lead.

"I was getting really good restarts, but Macedo was way faster than everyone else," he said. "I tried to slide him into turn one and he drove around me. I got tight against the cushion, which allowed Kyle and Brad (Sweet) to get by me."

Scelzi finished fourth.

The season concludes this Friday and Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., during the World of Outlaws Last Call with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series. Scelzi will drive for Roth Motorsports at the event. It marks his first time racing at The Dirt Track at Charlotte since May 2019 and only his third visit to the oval.

"I'm excited to head to North Carolina and get more laps at The Dirt Track at Charlotte," he said. "Hopefully we can put together a strong weekend to wrap up the season on a positive note."

Wilson Wrapping Up Season This Weekend During World of Outlaws Last Call

Inside Line Promotions - BENTON RIDGE, Ohio (Nov. 4, 2020) - Greg Wilson is hoping his direction is validated this weekend when his Hercules Tires, Ohio Logistics, DNC Hydraulics and Gear Off Road backed team wraps up the season in North Carolina.

Wilson's final two races of the year are Friday and Saturday at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord during the World of Outlaws Last Call with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

"The good part about it is we're getting to the point where we have a better idea of what to do with our racing program," he said. "We've changed a bunch of stuff and I feel we're on the right path. Charlotte will help us decide if we need to make more changes over the winter or if we're going the right way.

"We have a game plan for this weekend. If it doesn't go the way we want the first night we'll make some changes and we'll run a different motor on Saturday to see if it helps."

Wilson has enjoyed success at the track, where he won a World of Outlaws event in May 2016.

"I think we've been fortunate to have a good race car that track fits how I drive," he said. "You find a way to make momentum where other people aren't. We've had some really good runs from the back, but we've also been able to time well. For whatever reason we seem to be okay there in qualifying and we all know qualifying is everything."

More important than results this weekend will be securing a direction to head into the offseason, Wilson noted.

"As much as I'm ready for it to be over, I'm excited to go race because regardless of the results it should tell us a lot more about our program," he said. "For three or four or five years I've complained about some things. We've finally made changes that fit my style and what I do racing. It will be good for our team if we can figure out if we're going the right way."

SEASON STATS -

67 races, 0 wins, 11 top fives, 20 top 10s, 31 top 15s, 40 top 20s
