Hagar Captures ASCS Mid-South and ASCS Red River Victory at I-30 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 5, 2017) - Derek Hagar capped an amazing week by visiting Victory Lane last Saturday at I-30 Speedway during an ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Red River Region co-sanctioned event.

Hagar, who announced last week that he was engaged as well as expecting his first child, was stout in his return to the quarter-mile oval where he had won during four of the previous six seasons.

"It was pretty special to win after the week we had," he said.

The night began with Hagar advancing from third to second place in a heat race, which earned enough points to lock into the feature redraw. He then pulled the No. 3 to start the 25-lap main event on the inside of the second row.

"The polesitter jumped the start so that put us on the pole," he said. "I slid for the lead in turn one and then again in turn three, but ended up crossing the line in second. We ran second for nine or 10 laps. We had a caution that bunched us back up. I changed my line up and found something better. We raced pretty hard for the lead for five or six laps."

Hagar battled closely for the top spot before taking over the lead on Lap 16.

"We were running the top the whole time in turns one and two," he said. "I kept trying different things to see where I was better because the leader was better than me coming off the top of turn four. I went to the bottom in turns three and four and found some stuff. I got a good slider in turns one and two. We did that for two or three laps. I finally took his line going into turn three on the top. It got the air off his wing and got him crossed up a bit."

Hagar led the final 10 laps to capture his second triumph of the season and second straight while driving a winged sprint car.

He is scheduled to compete this Friday and Saturday at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Miss., with the ASCS Gulf South Region and ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints. Hagar has been victorious at the track each of the last three seasons.

Kevin Swindell and Bayston Charge to Top Five at I-30 Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 5, 2017) - The duo of Kevin Swindell and Spencer Bayston refused to allow Mother Nature to ruin last weekend's season debut.

Wet weather in Ohio changed the Swindell Speed Lab backed team's plans a couple of times before they headed south to compete in an ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Red River Region co-sanctioned event at I-30 Speedway on Saturday.

"It was important for us to get back going and get some seat time for me," Bayston said. "The last sprint car race I ran was back there last fall. We had a slow start to the night, but by the time we got to the feature I got much, much better and felt more comfortable in the car."

The event began with Bayston finishing where he started - fourth - in a heat race, which relegated him to a B Main. A runner-up result in the B Main earned a transfer into the 17th starting position for the 25-lap feature.

"We went back with how we ended Short Track Nationals last year," Swindell said. "They changed the banking on the track. We got some new wings and I'm not sure if somewhere in the combination it didn't like one piece. We had to go in a different direction. We got closer in the B Main. From Lap 1 in the feature he was ready to go and we had it a little better so it ended up pretty good. By the time it counted we were on. It was a good one to build on."

Bayston quickly maneuvered into the top 10 before he navigated into the top five in the closing laps.

"In the first couple of laps I was able to hug the bottom and get by half the field," he said. "The first three laps I just rolled the bottom. Once I got to that point I started moving around. I was able to find the top in turns three and four that worked pretty well."

Bayston charged from 17th to a fourth-place result, which earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

The team is scheduled to return to action April 14-15 at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio, for the HD Supply Spring Nationals. The opening night is sanctioned with the FAST 410 Series and the finale of the doubleheader is with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions.

Herrera Dominates ASCS Southwest Sprint Car Shootout in the Desert

Inside Line Promotions - LAS CRUCES, N.M. (April 5, 2017) - Johnny Herrera swept the ASCS Southwest Sprint Car Shootout presented by Consolidated Solar Technology last weekend at Southern New Mexico Speedway.

Herrera won his heat race and the main event both nights during the ASCS Southwest Region doubleheader to give him three wins and five podium finishes in five races this season.

"It's really huge," he said. "Some days things just fall in place and that was one of those weekends for us."

The action began on Friday, when Herrera won his heat race after starting on the outside of the front row. That earned him a spot in the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 2 to start the main event on the outside of the front row.

"The track was real heavy," he said. "It was really windy all day long. They really watered it afraid it was going to get really dry, but the wind died down so we ended up with a heavy track. We took off in the lead and got out there a ways and got into some traffic. I started slowing down too much and I got tighter. I was getting rolled up. At one point out of the corner of my eye I saw a nose from Skylar Gee and I decided I better get up above where I'd been running and run a little harder. I was still tight, but we got back away."

Herrera led the distance to capture his 18th career ASCS Southwest Region victory.

The momentum continued on Saturday when Herrera again claimed a heat race triumph after starting third. That made him the high-points driver and he pulled the No. 3 during the feature redraw to start the main event on the inside of the second row.

"The track got really slick," he said. "I figured it'd take rubber at some point, which it did. We got to second off the get-go. Skylar got to the lead on the second lap and I paced with him the first 10 or 12 laps. I started dropping down on the race track little by little and I started making up ground. We got to some lapped cars and he started moving around. He went around a lapped car and I went to the bottom and got by him. We had an exceptionally good car."

Herrera took the lead on Lap 12 and never looked back en route to his second straight win.

"It's great to run well in an area where a couple of our sponsors in Mesilla Valley Transportation and CSR Garage are located," he said. "I want to thank them as well as all our partners, Morton Excavating, Champion Brands, CSI, ButlerBuilt, Ostrich Racing Engines, FK Rod Ends, Hoosier Racing Tire, Schoenfeld, Maxim, Schroeder Torsion Bars, Simpson Race Products, Outlaw Wings, Weld Wheels, Finish Line Coatings, Semi-Crazy Truck Wash, Smiley's Racing Products, and Heidbreder Foundation Services, for supporting our team."

Herrera will get back to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action this Friday and Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, for the Tony Stewart presents the Texas Sprint Car Nationals. He posted results of third and second, respectively, with the ASCS National Tour and he won an ASCS Red River Region show at the track last season.

"Momentum is always a good thing to have on your side, especially going into a big weekend," he said. "We're looking forward to getting back there. It's one of my better tracks on the schedule. I'd love to go in there and win both days."

Hanks Records First Top 10 of Season at I-30 Speedway With ASCS Mid-South and ASCS Red River

Inside Line Promotions - LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (April 5, 2017) - Brandon Hanks scored his first top-10 finish of the season last Saturday at I-30 Speedway during an ASCS Mid-South Region and ASCS Red River Region co-sanctioned event.

The night began with Hanks starting at the back of a heat race following a high pill draw.

"It was a little frustrating drawing pretty high," he said. "Early in the night the track is usually pretty hooked up. We still managed to pass three cars there."

Hanks advanced to fifth place, which lined him up on the pole of a B Main. He won that to transfer into the 15th starting position for the 25-lap main event.

"I felt good going into the A Main," he said. "We didn't set the world on fire, but we did alright. We're heading in the right direction. It was a solid night. Of course I wanted more out of it, but we'll take the momentum of a top 10 and keep it going."

Hanks maneuvered to a ninth-place result.

"This was the first race this season where we've been able to move forward every time we hit the track," he said. "We were able to capitalize every time we went out. We passed a few cars in the main event. The car wasn't perfect, but we made some good gains."

Hanks will return to action this Friday and Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in Fort Worth, Texas, for the Tony Stewart presents the Texas Sprint Car Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

"I look forward to going to that track because it's a really nice facility and one of my favorite tracks," he said. "We've run well there and for it to be on NASCAR weekend is even cooler. There will be a lot of people there and some big names like Christopher Bell and Kyle Larson competing. I'm excited about the weekend and I'm ready to get there."

Hanks finished fifth at the track last season during his most recent visit.

White Earns Hard Charger Award After Advancing From 17th to Fourth

Inside Line Promotions - LAS CRUCES, N.M. (April 5, 2017) - Harli White posted her first top-five finish of the season in incredible fashion last Friday during the opening round of the ASCS Southwest Sprint Car Shootout presented by Consolidated Solar Technology.

White opened the ASCS Southwest Region doubleheader at Southern New Mexico Speedway on Friday by advancing from sixth to fifth place in a heat race. She then picked up a position in a B Main to place third, which lined her up on the inside of the ninth row in the main event.

"We had the car set up on point," she said. "The track was locked down and rough. I was free enough to roll around where everyone else couldn't. Everyone was all over the place and was pushing. I was free enough to roll where I needed to roll and pass them."

White maneuvered from 17th to a fourth-place finish, which is her career-best result at the track.

"It was one of those races where it went green to checkered and I didn't know where I was at," she said. "I didn't know I finished fourth until they came on the radio after the checkered flag was waved and said come to the frontstretch. It feels good to finally finish where we've been running up toward the front. That's momentum going forward."

The event concluded on Saturday, when White moved from fourth to third place in a heat race. That started her on the inside of the seventh row for the main event.

"I was up to ninth or so with three laps to go," she said. "I went to pass a car on the outside and another guy came out of the infield and ran over my left rear tire and spun me out. It broke the left front hub on my car where the rotor is and it locked up the left front brake so the tire wouldn't roll."

White was unable to finish the race and she was credited with a 20 th-place result.

"It was good to go down there and race with Royal (Jones) again," she said. "It's great to support a Mesilla Valley Transportation track. Any time we get the chance to support MVT we go for it."

White will return to Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour competition this Friday and Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, for the Tony Stewart presents the Texas Sprint Car Nationals.

White's apparel will be sold out of her racing trailer in the pits each night.
