Hagar Lands Top-Notch Ride for Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - MARION, Ark. (April 4, 2018) - Derek Hagar was on the right end of a phone call on Tuesday morning when he was offered an opportunity to race a marquee event.

Hagar will pilot Bruce Griffith's No. 17 this Friday and Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, during the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.

"It's a nice opportunity to go to Texas Motor Speedway and be able to race," Hagar said. "I probably wouldn't have the opportunity to go there if I didn't get to drive for somebody. They called me yesterday morning and we confirmed everything last night."

This weekend will mark Hagar's first time driving for Griffith and it will be his debut at the track.

"The goal is to just go out there and give them the best results that we can," he said. "It'd be nice to go out there and win, but there will be a lot of good competition there. We need to take it lap by lap and see how things shake out for us."

It will also be the third different sprint car Hagar has driven this season.

"Whenever you get into nice equipment you transition pretty quickly," he said. "I know these guys have good equipment and maintenance it very well. That takes a burden off me so I can prepare to do what I need to do on the race track."

Hanks Captures Top-Five Finish During Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout

Inside Line Promotions - PARK CITY, Kan. (April 5, 2018) - Brandon Hanks produced a top-five finish last weekend during his season-opening event.

Hanks debuted his new all-black No. 84 sprint car at the 8th annual Park City Cup/Air Capital Shootout hosted by 81 Speedway, where he kicked off the NCRA Series action on Friday by placing fourth in his first heat race before charging from fourth to win his second heat.

"We struggled to find some speed at first," he said. "As the night progressed we got a little better and I got myself more comfortable."

Hanks lined up on the inside of the fifth row for the A Main.

"We didn't swing far enough in terms of handling," he said. "Also, I hadn't been in the car since October so it was get back into a rhythm and get used to things. We didn't have enough speed, but we got the handle on it the next day"

Hanks, who was credited with a 15th-place finish, returned to the oval on Saturday. He maneuvered from ninth to fourth place in a heat race, which ranked sixth in overall points out of more than 45 competitors. That started him on the outside of the third row in the main event.

"We had it just right," he said. "I got fifth on the start. I got in line around the bottom. Sam (Hafertepe Jr.) got underneath Wayne (Johnson) in front of me and Wayne got tight getting back in line. He slipped up and I got under him for fourth. You had to hope somebody messed up when the track is rubbered down like that. At one point Hafertepe Jr. got free coming off turn two. I thought that was my chance to get him, but he got going quicker than I anticipated. In the process of trying to go around him I slipped up. Sammy (Swindell) got below me, but he pushed out of the rubber going into turn one and I was able to get back by him."

Hanks posted a fourth-place finish, which was his career-best result at the oval.

"It felt pretty good to start the year like that," he said. "To be in the top five between Hafertepe Jr. and Sammy, that's two big names in the sport."

Hanks is slated to return to action this Friday and Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas, during the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com. Hanks charged from 20th to an 11th -place finish during the event finale last season and he placed a career-best fifth at the oval in 2016.

"We've had a lot friends and family support us to help us get going and we really appreciate it," he said.

Bogucki and SawBlade.com Sponsored Team Head to Texas Motor Speedway With Confidence

Inside Line Promotions - FORT WORTH, Texas (April 5, 2018) - Comfort plus confidence equals speed.

That's the equation Scott Bogucki and the SawBlade.com backed team have right now as they head to Texas Motor Speedway this Friday and Saturday for the Tony Stewart Presents the Vankor Texas Sprint Car Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour presented by SawBlade.com.

Bogucki, who is vying for the Rookie of the Year Award with the ASCS National Tour, will not only face the tough series competitors, but also the likes of former NASCAR and IndyCar champion Tony Stewart, 2017 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series champion Christopher Bell and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Sammy Swindell.

"I'm very comfortable in this car," Bogucki said. "It feels way better than the car I drove last year at Texas. It felt really good at Devil's Bowl a couple of weeks ago and if I can keep that feeling I think we can have a very good showing this weekend. With the competition it's going to be tough to make the feature, but I'm confident we can get that accomplished."

This will be Bogucki's second appearance at Texas Motor Speedway. Last year he finished fifth in the B Main on the first night before an 18 th-place finish during the finale capped the doubleheader.

"On the second night there was a crash and I stopped and was sitting there when another driver drove through the crash and plowed into me with like five or six laps in," he said. "I was very mad. We had a good run going and had already passed a few cars."

Bogucki is coming off a 10th-place performance on March 16 during the ASCS National Tour season opener at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas. He was challenging for a top-five finish before he packed a front wheel full of mud. He currently sits 10th in the ASCS National Tour championship standings.

"If we get the results I feel the car is capable of we will move up in the standings quickly," he said.
