Sides Produces Top-10 Run at Badger 40 to Build Momentum Entering Busy Week

Inside Line Promotions - NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (July 12, 2021) - Jason Sides has found a renewed sense of confidence entering a busy week in Ohio.

Sides scored his third top 10 in the last five World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races last Saturday during the Badger 40 at Wilmot Raceway.

The night began with Sides qualifying second quickest before a runner-up result in a heat race advanced him into the dash.

"We had a good lap in qualifying," he said. "When I got out of the car I thought it probably wouldn't last. It did until the last car came out when (Brad) Sweet beat us. It still got us on the front row of the heat race.

"It was slimy down low and I spun the tires on the start of the heat. (Scotty) Theil got away from me. I didn't want to press it since we were still in the dash running second so I just maintained."

A sixth-place finish in the dash garnered the sixth starting position in the main event.

"We were a little tight early," he said. "About halfway through we were decent and then got a little free toward the end. We hung on for 10 th. You always think you could have made it better after the race. Where I was running around the bottom it got real thin. The top was so far around I committed myself to the bottom."

The 10th-place result was Sides' fourth top 10 of the season.

Next up is five straight nights of racing in The Buckeye State with action on Tuesday at Attica Raceway Park in Attica for the Ohio Logistics Brad Doty Classic and Wednesday through Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg for a pair of Kings Royal spectacles.

"I feel pretty damn good," he said. "We've been having some good runs and consistency. The motors are running well. I'm looking forward to the Ohio speedweek we have. I think you race it night by night and don't think about the money on the line. If you have a bad night there's always the next night. We're not trying to look ahead. We're just looking to the Brad Doty Classic and then we'll go from there."

Hagar Tackling the Kings Royal for the First Time Since 2015

Inside Line Promotions - MARION, Ark. (July 12, 2021) - Derek Hagar is primed to make his second and third career starts at the famed Kings Royal this week.

Hagar will pilot his No. 9jr throughout the pair of prestigious $175,000-to-win World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series events, which run Wednesday and Thursday for the 38th edition as well as Friday and Saturday for the 37th annual race at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio. It marks the first time since July 2015 that Hagar has competed at the half-mile oval.

"I did a Kings Royal the year that it rained and we didn't get out of there until like 6 in the morning," he said. "I think I missed the show by a few spots in the B Main. I remember it was a long night. We had a good car, but we didn't qualify very well. I don't know if we got the heat races in before the storm came in. Then we didn't get back on the track until 2 or 2:30 in the morning. We didn't make the show and had to start deep in the B Main. We just didn't get far enough."

Hagar missed making the preliminary night A Main by only one position the previous night.

The veteran racer has experience in four different types of race cars at Eldora Speedway, including a non-wing sprint car, a midget, a silver crown car and a 410ci winged sprint car.

"I've probably raced a winged car there five nights," he said. "We've always been behind the eight ball. Every time we get close to figuring it out the night is over. I'm looking forward to running four consecutive nights there. Hopefully we learn something and can carry the high-speed track info into the Knoxville Nationals."

Hagar said his goal this week is to simply make the A Main each night.

"I want to get in the show and race," he said. "Once you get in the show anything is possible. There will be a lot of good cars there. You have to qualify good and get through your heat race. We have to make sure we qualify, which is something we don't get to do a lot of in our normal racing schedule."

SEASON STATS -

19 races, 3 wins, 8 top fives, 16 top 10s, 17 top 15s, 19 top 20s
