Blake Hahn Rebounds To Top 10 Finish With ASCS Red River At Creek County Speedway

Bryan Hulbert - SAPULPA, Okla. (April 23, 2018) Picking up his 11th top-ten finish of the season, Blake Hahn clawed through Friday's B-Feature to run eighth at Creek County Speedway with the American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Red River Region presented by Smiley's Racing Products.

"Yeah, we came back to eighth which was good. Overall, I felt like I had a much better car but I screwed up in the Heat Race so I had a hole to dig out of."

Taking off third in his Heat Race, Hahn made contact with Layne Himebaugh, causing the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 to spin in the third-turn. Able to continue, Hahn was unable to advance beyond fifth, landing him in the B-Feature where the result was a win that put him starting 15th in the A-Feature.

"I was able to search around in the B-Feature and got rolling on the top. About half-way through the race, the track started to really slick off so, before the 'A', we tightened the car up a lot. The first half of the feature, I was able to move around and go where they weren't. I was up to tenth and we had a caution with about six to go and just kept alternating my lines and was able to pick off two more before the end. I feel like we had a car capable of winning, again, just screwed up in the Heat."

On the docket for this weekend, Hahn will see action at two new tracks with Blake joining the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com on Friday, April 27 at Paducah International Raceway and Tennessee National Raceway on Saturday, April 28 with the ASCS Mid-South Region.

The 2018 season is Blake Hahn's 16th year of racing. Starting in Jr. Sprints at the Tulsa Shootout, Hahn has progressed through the ranks with over 90 victories across Micros, Midgets, and Sprint Cars. Skylar Gee Posts Tenth Place Run at Knoxville Raceway Season Opener

Bryan Hulbert - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 23, 2018) Taking the opportunity to get laps at Knoxville Raceway this past Saturday night, Skylar Gee brought his Strongs Crane Service No. 99 home with a 10th place finish in 360cid competition.

"We did okay. I just need more laps around there. That's one thing we're trying to do this year is take every opportunity we can to race at Knoxville," stated Skylar.

Timing in 15th out of 26, Skylar was positioned outside the first row in Heat 3. "We were good in Hot Laps, but just struggled in qualifying. The track changed a little bit on us, and like I said before, just need more laps there, but we were really good in the Heat and we were able to pull away for the win."

Hitting the track 12th for the A-Feature, Skylar was able to move forward for a 10th place finish.

"We were good in the feature. Bryan [Sundby] told me all night to just be patient, and that's what I was working on in the feature. The car felt good, and I just worked on hitting my marks."

Next for Skylar and the Strongs Crane Service No. 99 team is Paducah International Raceway on Friday, April 27 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com. Saturday, April 28 is tentative as the team watches to see what is available.

Sam Hafertepe, Jr. Lands First Win Of 2018 With NRA Sprint Invaders At Eldora Speedway

Bryan Hulbert - ROSSBURG, Ohio (April 23, 2018) It wasn't the weekend that Sam Hafertepe, Jr. had originally planned for, but the end result was a dominating victory with the K&L Ready Mix National Racing Alliance (NRA) Sprint Invaders at Eldora Speedway to notch his first win of the 2018 season.

"It was pretty awesome. The car was really good, but at the same time there were still things we could have done to be better," commented Hafertepe of the win.

While victory was the final result, the weekend start at Attica Raceway Park with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions where an issue with the engine sidelined Sam before he was ever able to qualify.

"Once we figured out we weren't going to be able to run, we decided to just head to Eldora and run with Alex [Hill] and obviously it was good."

Starting the night by setting a new track record with a time of 13.440 seconds, breaking the previous record of 13.895 set by Tim Allison on April 13, 2002, the inversion put Hafertepe fourth in the first Heat Race lineup.

"In the Heat Race, we took the lead going into turn one and it was game over at that point, then we drew the one for the feature and once we got going, I never heard or saw anyone the whole time. I knew as fast as we caught lapped traffic, and as fast as we were getting by them, that we had to be putting some distance on the guys behind us."

Despite slowing for a caution with six laps to run, Hafertepe was still able to pull away to a 3.529-second advantage at the checkered flag.

"The car was really good, and we think it could have been even better. We had clean air on the restart and that let us pull away, but we still feel like we could have been faster. We have our notes to work with, and we'll work from there."

Up next for Hafertepe is Paducah International Raceway on Friday, April 27 with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com. A track that Sam is somewhat familiar with, he has good confidence going into the Friday showdown.

"We ran there two or three times with the Outlaws, so I feel good going in. We've run decent there. I wouldn't say great, but having been there and knowing what we're going to, I feel confident about what we're going to see."
