Scott Bloomquist Rewrites the Record Books with Dirt Late Model Dream Win
Travels to Mississippi with LOLMDS this Weekend

Mooresburg, Tennessee (06/12/18) – Scott Bloomquist rewrote the history books over the weekend by winning his unprecedented eighth Dirt Late Model Dream. He picked up $100,000 for his seventh win of 2018 in his Reece Monuments #0 Sweet Bloomquist/Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.

After seeing rain delay the start of the 24th running of the Dirt Late Model Dream at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio), the crown jewel event came to life on Friday afternoon with twin $5,000-to-win events.

With 78 entries on hand Scott started his outing by qualifying fourth fastest. With a four-car invert in effect, he started fourth in his heat race. Bloomquist raced to a runner-up finish in his heat race to earn a spot in the feature redraw, where he pulled the pole.

In the 25-lap, preliminary feature he would race in the Top 5 before crossing the finish line in the third position behind race winner Darrell Lanigan and Jimmy Owens with Jared Landers and Dale McDowell completing the Top 5.

Scott would be forced to scratch from Friday evening's program after a slip and fall on a muddy step in his hauler forced him to go to the hospital with severe pain in his shoulder and rotator cuff.

“Friday night I slipped in mud and was gonna land on the tongue of my trailer and I reached back … I was gonna land on my back … I was like, ‘whoa’ and it pulled my arm way back,” said Bloomquist. “I hadn’t experienced that before and I felt like it was really done. We went to the emergency room in Greenville. They X-rayed it and pretty much released me to go back and see my orthopedic surgeon.”

Due to not accumulating any points from Friday's show, Scott was forced to start on the tail of his heat race on Saturday evening. Despite starting deep in the heat race grid, he charged to finish third, which locked him into the 15th-starting spot for the 100-lap finale.

In the feature Bloomquist had a great car and immediately began charging forward in the pack as the race went green. By lap 25 Scott found himself battling for the lead with Jonathan Davenport, and on lap 40 he surged to the top spot for good.

Not even late-race cautions could slow his roll as he raced to a nine-second win in the crown jewel. It was his eighth win in the event, and his seventh win of 2018. He also became the first-ever back-to-back winner in the mega event.

"I really think that I had an even better car in this year's Dream than I had last year. I think some cars were better than they were then, but … I could do anything I wanted out there,” Bloomquist said. “It was enjoyable. I probably could’ve stood being a little bit tighter, but not on the restarts. It was spot-on. After we’d run a little bit I’d get a little bit free, but I’ll tell you what, it was about as good as you could ask for. Even though I might tail out a little, it still had traction and I still was maneuverable in traffic.”

Dale McDowell, Jonathan Davenport, Bobby Pierce, and Chris Madden completed the Top-5 finishers.

Full results from the event are available at www.EldoraSpeedway.com .

The upcoming weekend – June 15-16 – will take Bloomquist to Mississippi to compete in the annual Clash at the Mag at Magnolia Motor Speedway. The event posts a $20,000 top prize at the state-of-the-art, 3/8-mile oval.

Scott is currently second in the latest series standings and will be looking to make up more ground in the points this weekend.

Black Diamond Racecars and Earl Pearson Jr. Win Dirt Late Model Dream Prelim
Magnolia Motor Speedway’s Clash at the Mag Up Next

Shreveport, Louisiana (06/12/18) – Earl Pearson Jr. and the Black Diamond Racecars house car competed in the 24th annual Dirt Late Model Dream over the weekend at Eldora Speedway.

During the three-day affair Earl picked up a $10,000 victory in a preliminary feature in his Lucas Oil #1 P&W Sales/ Black Diamond Race Car/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

“I know it’s late, but I’m sure them fans just seen one hell of a race,” Pearson Jr. said in Victory Lane at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Friday morning. “Don (O’Neal) and Jonathan (Davenport) were battling it out up there and they got bottled up in turn two. I just got a run and went in there and slid them. Me and Jonathan traded positions there a couple times. But we drove each other clean. I’m proud to be able to get a win for this whole Black Diamond race team. This is a big deal for us.”

After Mother Nature wiped out Thursday night’s opener, Earl Pearson Jr. was one of 78 Super Late Models signed in at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Friday afternoon, as the 24th annual Dirt Late Model Dream came to life.

Earl started the night by laying down the seventh-fastest time in qualifying. He went on to record a fourth-place finish in his 10-lap heat race. Earning the 16th-starting position for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Earl passed six cars in the 25-lapper to reel in a 10th-place finish.

Later that evening with another round of preliminary features on the docket, Earl registered the third-fastest time in qualifying before landing a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Jon Henry.

Rolling off seventh on the grid for the main event, Pearson Jr. worked his way into a podium spot by the halfway mark of the 25 lapper and set his eyes on race-leader Jonathan Davenport in the final 15 circuits. Sliding past Davenport on lap-17, Earl Pearson Jr. paced the field in the final laps to pick up his third win of the season and a $10,000 payday. Davenport, Dale McDowell, Don O’Neal, and Tim McCreadie completed the Top-5 finishers in the 25-lap affair.

On Saturday evening the final night of the 24th annual Dirt Late Model Dream was held, and Earl locked his spot into the $100,000-to-win finale with a runner-up finish in his heat race behind Josh Richards.

Rolling off the grid seventh, Pearson Jr. made several trips to the pit area throughout the finale to tweak his setup before ultimately registering a 16th-place finish in the 100-lapper.

“We didn’t have the run that we would’ve liked in the finale, but top to bottom it was still a good weekend for our team. Hopefully when we come back for the World 100 in September we can take what we’ve learned and do even better,” Pearson Jr. concluded.

This weekend – June 15-16 – Earl will return to action with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) with a trip to Johnny Stokes’ Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). The annual Clash at the Mag posts a $20,000 winner’s check.

World of Outlaws Tennessee Double Header on Deck

Mooresburg, Tennessee (06/12/18) –Dale McDowell enjoyed a great weekend at the 24th annual Dirt Late Model Dream behind the wheel of his Shane McDowell Racing #17m New Era Industrial/ Will Kinzer Foundation/ Sweet-Bloomquist Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

While the Georgia native came up one spot short in his bid for a second title in the crown jewel event, he was quite pleased with his team’s performance.

“Early in the race I got into a little bit of a skirmish there on one of the restarts and I fell back and lost five or six positions but once I got to second I couldn’t see Scott (Bloomquist). He was out there cruising it looked like, but we were all there racing like crazy for second,” McDowell said. “We were just a little off from where we needed to be to able to contend for the win, but we’re still learning these new Sweet Bloomquist cars and getting better and better with them each time out. I want to again thank my team and everyone, who supports this program.”

After losing Thursday night’s opener to Mother Nature, Shane McDowell Racing and Dale McDowell invaded Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) on Friday for the 24th annual Dirt Late Model Dream. In a field of 78 Super Late Models, McDowell timed in ninth-fastest in qualifying before advancing one spot in his heat race to place in the runner-up spot behind Jon Henry.

Earning the seventh-starting position for the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Dale gained two spots to notch a fifth-place finish behind Darrell Lanigan, Jimmy Owens, Scott Bloomquist, and Jared Landers.

Later Friday night after enduring another rain delay, the team entered a $10,000-to-win program. McDowell earned the outside-front-row starting spot for his heat race via his qualifying effort. Unfortunately, he was collected in a wreck on the opening lap of his heat race, dropping him to the tail. From the back of the pack Dale rebounded to land a fifth-place finish, which positioned him 17th on the starting grid for the final preliminary feature.

With $10,000 on the line, Dale McDowell streaked through the field 14 spots in the 25-lap affair to finish third behind Earl Pearson Jr. and Jonathan Davenport with Don O’Neal and Tim McCreadie completing the Top-5 finishers.

Wrapping up the 24th annual Dirt Late Model Dream on Saturday evening, Dale locked into the $100,000-to-win finale with a third-place finish in his heat race. Rolling off 16th, McDowell passed 14 cars in the 100-lapper to finish in the runner-up slot behind Scott Bloomquist with Jonathan Davenport, Bobby Pierce, and Chris Madden rounding out the Top-5.

We had a really good shot to win again on Saturday night too, but I dug the nose into the cushion, and we were toast over that. Blake Hahn Races To Top-Five Finish at Route 66 Motor Speedway

Bryan Hulbert - AMARILLO, Texas (June 12, 2018) The best part about earning a fourth-place finish at Route 66 Motor Speedway for Blake Hahn? Retribution from one year ago when his final trip around the Texas oval ended with a torn-up race car.

"I don't know if I've been happier with a fourth-place finish. After the way that race ended last year, I just wanted to finish. It would have been nice to win but getting the finish we did with everything that was going on, we'll take it," stated Hahn, who also came out through the weekend two positions better in tour standings to third.

Prior to the fourth-place finish in Amarillo, the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 kicked off the ASCS Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek at West Texas Raceway in Lubbock, Texas with an 11th place finish.

"We were okay at Lubbock, just couldn't seem to get the car to grab the track early. The surface threw us for a loop in the heat, but we were better in the Feature. They came out and worked the top of the track during intermission and that helped us a lot. We were able to get up there and keep our momentum up and move forward."

Waiting out a nearly three-hour rain delay in Amarillo the following day, Hahn was one of several drivers who spent time with the fans, signing autographs and tossing out a few shirts.

"I couldn't believe the crowd. Even when it was raining, they were still coming in and finding a seat. Going into the stands while we waited, the fans were so excited we were there. Between the fans and the track crew, I just can't thank the whole community enough for their support. I can't wait to go back."

Finishing out the 2018 ASCS Sizzlin' Summer Speedweek, Hahn is back behind the wheel at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Tuesday, June 12, followed by Lawton Speedway (Lawton, Okla.) on Wednesday, June 13, Creek County Speedway (Sapulpa, Okla.) on Thursday, June 14, and Salina Speedway (Salina, Kan.), on Saturday, June 16.

The 2018 season is Blake Hahn's 16th year of racing. Starting in Jr. Sprints at the Tulsa Shootout, Hahn has progressed through the ranks with over 90 victories across Micros, Midgets, and Sprint Cars. Hafertepe Ups 2018 Win Total To Six With Speedweek Triumph at West Texas Raceway

Bryan Hulbert - LUBBOCK, Texas (June 12, 2018) Retaking the point's lead with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com, by 42 markers, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. picked up his sixth victory of the season at West Texas Raceway, followed by Hard Charger at Route 66 Motor Speedway.

Sam's second win on the season with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by Sawblade.com, the West Texas victory came down to the final turn as Seth Bergman charged after the J&J Chassis No. 15h. Splitting the No. 95 of Matt Covington through the final turns, the bottom proved the better line for Hafertepe to secure the win.

"Matt didn't give very much room, and honestly he probably didn't know we were there and that comes down to a lot of times you don't know if it's a guy your racing for position either, so I basically just stuffed it in there and had to run the berm a little bit," commented Sam on the final drive to the finish. "The bottom really was the place to be in three and four, so that made it an easier decision for where I needed to go."

Chasing the lead, the first 17 laps, Sam worked past Travis Rilat on Lap 18 in traffic.

"Travis was running hard. Running a 30 lap feature with the way the track was on tires, I kind of let him run out there and let traffic come into play. I was able to search around and was running the top predominantly, but the bottom started coming in and there actually a strip of rubber in one and two, but we found a few lines that worked."

Rain delayed the following night at Route 66 Motor Speedway, the sixth-place showing in Saturday's third Heat Race meant Sam had his work cut out for him in the A-Feature. Working patiently through the field, Hafertepe advanced 12 positions to sixth.

"The track didn't really widen out, I feel like what happened is the track got really treacherous for some guys in a couple areas so they got really tight and would actually mess up which made for an interesting race where you had to hit your marks. A lot of guys would slip off the bottom, or get too tight on the top, where we were actually pretty good everywhere. The lap times may not show it, but we had one of the fastest cars on the track, but it showed with the number of cars we passed and I don't know, maybe a few more cautions at the end and we might have been up there a little bit more."

Back to tracks that Sam has had a lot of success at, the No. 15h will see competition at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Tuesday, June 12, followed by Lawton Speedway (Lawton, Okla.) on Wednesday, June 13, Creek County Speedway (Sapulpa, Okla.) on Thursday, June 14, and Salina Speedway (Salina, Kan.), on Saturday, June 16.

"We're looking forward to the rest of this week. Any place that Lanny Edwards has owned in the past, I've always seem to run really good there. Creek County, we're looking forward to going there where in the past, we didn't, and Salina, it's been a while since we've been there, but we know what we're getting into there."

Tony Stewart A-Main Finish (Start): 7th (16th)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 12, 2018) - Tony Stewart’s march through the Empire State with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions presented by Mobil 1 resulted in three consecutive top-ten finishes during action at three different facilities, highlighting his weekend with a top-five performance at Stateline Speedway near Jamestown on Saturday, June 9th.

Stewart, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 14 sprint car, followed the All Star Circuit of Champions to Outlaw Speedway, Stateline Speedway, and Weedsport Speedway during the three-race stretch, finishing sixth, fifth, and seventh, respectively.

In impressive fashion, two of Stewart’s top-ten finishes were accomplished from well outside the top-ten, actually ending the weekend with a massive charge from the outside of row eight to finish seventh at the state-of-the-art Weedsport Speedway on Sunday, June 10. In addition, Stewart’s sixth place finish at Outlaw Speedway to kick-off the weekend started on the inside of row seven.

When the dust settled on Sunday night, Stewart climbed a grand total of 18 positions during the New York triple-header, padding his season stat sheet that now includes 21 top-ten finishes in 29 events. Fifteen of Stewart’s 21 top-ten finishes were accomplished inside the top-five.

Stewart qualified for all three main events in New York through heat race competition, finishing fifth, third, and sixth, respectively.

“It wasn’t a bad weekend for our team. Sometimes it takes a little bit for us to get rolling, like at Weedsport on Sunday, but once we find something that works, our car tends to react pretty well,” Tony Stewart explained. “We had a lot of fun racing in New York with the All Star Circuit of Champions. Every facility was unique in its own way. That’s what makes racing with a Series like this a lot of fun; you have an opportunity to travel and visit unique places and compete in front of new fans. I’m already looking forward to my return.”

Tony Stewart’s upcoming plans have yet to be determined. Fans are encouraged to keep alert online, as well as on social media, and watch for any updates regarding his racing schedule.

ST. HELENA, Calif. (June 12, 2018) - After a week away from competition to spend some much needed time with family, St. Helena, California’s Rico Abreu will return to action in a big way during the upcoming weekend, set to take part in one of sprint car racing’s most grueling traditions; Ohio Sprint Speedweek with the All Star Circuit of Champions.

Complete with nine events in nine days at eight different facilities, Ohio Sprint Speedweek will kick-off officially at Attica Raceway Park on Friday evening, June 15. Ohio Sprint Speedweek will continue with visits to Eldora Speedway (6/16), Waynesfield Raceway Park (6/17), Wayne County Speedway (6/18), Sharon Speedway (6/19), Atomic Speedway (6/20), Muskingum County Speedway (6/21), Limaland Motorsports Park (6/22), and back at Atomic Speedway (6/23) to end the week. All Ohio Sprint Speedweek programs will award $5,000 top prizes expect for the Speedweek finale at Atomic Speedway. Dubbed the Rick Ferkel Classic, the 2018 finale will award a $10,000 payday.

“This is a big deal. I’m excited to be a part of Ohio Sprint Speedweek in 2018,” Rico Abreu explained, driver of the Abreu Vineyards/Lucas Oil/Rhino Wipe/Alpinestars/Priority Aviation/No. 24 winged sprint car. “We took some time off recently to kinda regroup and clear our heads. I ended up going home to California for a few days to spend some time with family. The break was nice. It gave us all an opportunity to get our heads on straight and begin preparations for the rest of the season. I’m really excited to get Speedweek underway. We want to put ourselves in a position to win every time we are on the track.”

Unfortunately for Abreu, momentum will not be on his side entering Ohio Sprint Speedweek as recent All Star results have been frustrating; not qualifying for main event competition during his last visit to Attica Raceway Park and losing Plymouth (Wis.) Dirt Track’s main event to Mother Nature just as feature cars were set to stage.

On a more positive note, other recent results for Rico Abreu include earning a trio of top-ten performances during Indiana Midget Week. Driving for Keith Kunz Motorsports, Abreu highlighted the six-race stretch with a seventh place finish at Lawrenceburg Speedway, battling ahead from 16th on the grid to do so. Abreu’s impressive rally through the field against the USAC National Midgets was also enough to clinch hard charger honors.

In addition to his hard charge at Lawrenceburg, Abreu also earned top-ten finishes at Montpelier and Lincoln Park, finishing ninth and eighth, respectively.

World of Outlaws Championship Standings (as of 6/12/2018): 1st - 3846 points (82-point margin over second place, Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 12, 2018) - Donny Schatz certainly saved the best result for last during his recent stretch of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series competition, not only charging forward from row four to earn the Jackson Nationals finale main event victory at Jackson (Minn.) Motorplex on Saturday, June 9, but scoring $40,000 in the process. The victory, Schatz’s largest of the 2018 season thus far, bumped his 2018 World of Outlaws win total to double-digits, now with ten victories against the Greatest Show On Dirt over the course of the season.

Schatz, who started seventh during the $40,000-to-win, Jackson Nationals finale, battled to the front in a hurry, taking command from race leader, Jason Johnson, on lap 18 and never looking back. Johnson was the clear favorite entering the evening finale as the Louisiana native was two-for-two during Jackson Nationals preliminary competition.

“The weekend didn’t start out the best for us. Luckily for me, I have the hardest working team in sprint car racing in my corner. They never gave up and put us in a position to win on Saturday night,” Donny Schatz explained, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Textron Off Road/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/No. 15 sprint car. “We weren’t satisfied with our results during the first two events at Jackson. We stepped up the program and got ourselves where we needed to be. Everyone did a great job.”

With wet weather causing some interference, Donny Schatz kicked-off his Jackson Nationals campaign with two rounds of preliminary competition on Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, finishing eighth and 13th, respectively. Although finishing outside of the top-ten on Saturday afternoon, which has only happened twice in 27 World of Outlaws starts in 2018, Schatz mounted an impressive charge to finish 13th, climbing ahead from 22nd on the feature grid after being forced to compete in the afternoon’s Last Chance Showdown; Schatz finished sixth during his respective heat race.

A top-ten finish during action at Fairbury (Ill.) American Legion Speedway on Tuesday, June 5, kicked-off Schatz’s long week in Midwest, climbing forward from 13th to finish eighth on a tight, yet racey quarter-mile.

Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart Racing will continue their trek toward the 2018 World of Outlaws championship with two rounds in North Dakota on Friday and Sunday, June 15 & 17. An opportunity to race very close to home, Schatz will compete at River Cities Speedway to kick-off the weekend on Friday, June 15, followed by the Magic City Showdown at Nodak Speedway on Sunday, June 17.
