Hahn Captures Non-Wing Podium Finish At Creek County Speedway

Bryan Hulbert - SAPULPA, Okla. (September 11, 2018) Racing close to home at Creek County Speedway this past Saturday night, Blake Hahn rushed to a podium finish in the Non-Wing Iron Man 66 presented by D&E Supply and Same Day Auto Repair.

With the race called at Lap 45 due to rain, Hahn felt relieved to roll back to the trailer as his vision was challenged due to the steady mist that ultimately ended the race.

"I think that's the first time I've ever had to throw tear-offs for water more than mud," explained Hahn who spent the better part of the race having to race with his visor partially open to see. "The first part of the race, I was able to rip a tear-off and keep going, but that mist started washing the mud off my helmet and it was running between my visor and the tear-offs. At one point under caution, I pulled the tear-offs off, turned my glove inside out, and tried wiping the tear-offs and my visor but that just made everything into a giant haze, I thought I was going to have to pull off, but once I got to second, I was able to pop my visor open and Frank Flud it just enough to keep going."

Giving chase to Chance Morton, the No. 7m was out of reach as Hahn battled late with Kyle Clark who eventually overtook the No. 52.

"I could hear Kyle on the top, but with what I was dealing with I didn't want to move off the bottom and risk getting him or myself wadded up, but I have to say hats off to Chance. He's been running a lot more Non-Wing this year, and he had us covered."

Putting wings on this weekend, the Griffith Truck and Equipment No. 52 team will be at I-30 Speedway with the ASCS Mid-South Region.

The 2018 season is Blake Hahn's 16th year of racing.
