Hagar Driving for Witherspoon Racing This Weekend at Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s

Inside Line Promotions - MARION, Ark. (Feb. 20, 2017) - Derek Hagar will make his season debut this weekend at the 16th annual Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s.

Hagar is slated to pilot a sprint car for Witherspoon Racing Thursday through Saturday at the marquee event hosted by East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla.

"I'm pretty amped about it," he said. "It was disheartening with the issues we had to not go to the Chili Bowl in January so I've had to wait an extra month to start the season. It's great to come down to Florida with the nice weather, too. And it's a nice piece so I'm ready to see what's going to happen."

Hagar has competed at the bullring four times in his career with one top 10 under his belt.

"It's luck of the draw and having luck on your side," he said. "When we came a couple of years ago in our car we couldn't find a good balance. These guys are pretty familiar with this race track so hopefully we can put our heads together and come out on top."

While the goal is to stand in Victory Lane each night, Hagar said he will be happy with a top five - or two or three - this weekend.

"A good top five would be awesome," he said. "These guys worked hard to get this brand new car together. Hopefully we come out strong and can be competitive right out of the box."

White Heading for Florida Debut This Weekend at East Bay Raceway Park

Inside Line Promotions - LINDSAY, Okla. (Feb. 20, 2017) - Harli White will make her racing debut in Florida this weekend when she invades East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa for the 16th annual Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s.

"I've watched a few videos of that track," she said. "By the looks of it it will be close to some tracks we raced on in Australia recently. My goal is to just get laps and try to make the show each night. It's going to be a tough field of cars and a challenging track."

White spent most of the offseason competing in Australia for the first time in her career and she is hopeful that experience will lead to success at new venues this season, including the one this Thursday through Saturday.

"As a driver I have to be able to adapt to any track condition," she said. "Dry slick is what we were hoping for in Australia. A slick track in the states will be nice."

Regardless of the tricky track and stout competition, White said she is entering this season with a lot of confidence.

"We're on top of our game going into the first race," she said. "Everything is in line. It looks good and sounds good. We spent the hours preparing this year."

Following this weekend in Florida White will kick off the first weekend in March by making her debut in Mississippi at a pair of USCS Series races.

"I learned a lot racing in Australia during the offseason," she said. "Hopefully running the different tracks will help me quickly figure out these new tracks I'll be going to."

Rilat Focused on Winning the Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s This Weekend

Inside Line Promotions - FORNEY, Texas (Feb. 20, 2017) - Travis Rilat has one goal on his mind when he heads to East Bay Raceway Park this weekend.

"I want to win," he said. "We've had great runs there in the past, but haven't pulled off the big victory during the Ronald Laney Memorial. It's a special race to me and each year the only focus is to get to Victory Lane."

Rilat will compete at the bullring located in Tampa, Fla., this Thursday through Saturday during the 16th annual Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s - an event that is named after one of his friends who passed away in 2002.

"The Laney Family has always meant a lot to me and have shown me a lot of support throughout the years," Rilat said. "Ronald and I were really good friends throughout my early racing career. To attend this race with his father there means quite a bit to us. I'd love to win the race and be able to give the trophy to him."

Rilat recorded three top 10s during the event last year, featuring a charge from 18th to seventh on Night 1 and a podium finish on Night 2 before capping the event with a sixth-place result during the finale.

Rilat was victorious at East Bay Raceway Park in 2006 during a Ronald Laney Memorial preliminary night with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.

Hanks Entering Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s With Confidence

Inside Line Promotions - BURLISON, Tenn. (Feb. 20, 2017) - Brandon Hanks doesn't know how many times he will be able to compete this season, but this weekend is one of those events.

Hanks and his family owned team are venturing to East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla., for the 16th annual Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s this Thursday through Saturday.

"What excites me is that warm Florida weather," he joked. "Last year I didn't get a chance to race. We blew up in practice. I haven't had the best of luck there, but our program has grown immensely since then."

Hanks is heading into this season as a championship-winning driver after he garnered the ASCS Red River Region title for the first time in his career last season. He also captured a career-best four feature wins, including his first with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, as well as a dozen top fives and 21 top 10s during the breakout year.

"Hopefully the leaps we've made as a team and I have as a driver will pay off this weekend at East Bay," he said. "So far that track hasn't been kind to me, but I really think this go around we'll be a lot better. We have better equipment and I'm coming off the wins and championship."

The goal each night is to make the main event and finish with a top 10.

"I'd like to get top 10s every night if I can," he said. "In racing you don't know how things are going to go, but my goal is top 10s. Our family team probably isn't going to run as often this season so I want to capitalize every time we do race and hopefully that can lead to a ride or some partners to help offset the team's costs."

Dancer Eyeing First Saturday A Main at Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s

Inside Line Promotions - DELPHOS, Ohio (Feb. 20, 2017) - Shawn Dancer is aiming to accomplish a new feat during his season-opening event this weekend.

Dancer wants to make the big show on Saturday during the finale of the 16 th annual Ronald Laney Memorial King of the 360s, which runs Thursday through Saturday at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, Fla.

"We haven't made a Saturday A Main since we've been down here the last five years," he said. "Trouble seems to find us down here so this year I'm hoping to get past that trouble."

The team ran into engine trouble during last year's event, but still nearly made the Saturday A Main.

"We went through two engines, which really took us down, but we only missed the A Main by two spots," he said. "We've been close. Hopefully this is the year we get over the hurdle."

Dancer missed transferring into the finale by only five positions in 2014.

"It's a great event and great to run with some of the top drivers like Jason Sides and some of the other outlaw-caliber drivers," he said. "The goal is to make the A Main on Saturday. That is what we are focused on. We feel pretty good going into this year. In past years we changed a lot and this year we didn't change much. At the end of last year we ran pretty good so we're hoping to keep the momentum going."

Madsen Scores Trio of Top 10s and Hard Charger Award During DIRTcar Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - BARBERVILLE, Fla. (Feb. 20, 2017) - Kerry Madsen guided Big Game Motorsports to a trio of top-10 finishes during the past week at the DIRTcar Nationals.

"We were certainly hoping to get wins, but we produced several good results throughout the week and we are continuing to grow in this new partnership," he said. "I really like the direction we are headed."

The Muddy sponsored team kicked off the five-day event at Volusia Speedway Park last Wednesday with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions. Madsen qualified ninth quickest overall and second in his group before he placed third in a heat race to miss locking into the dash by only one position. That lined him up on the outside of the sixth row for the main event.

"Restarts really hurt me all week," he said. "I felt like I lost positions on almost every restart."

Madsen battled for a top 10 throughout the feature before ending 12 th.

He returned to the track on Thursday for the final leg of the All Star portion. Madsen timed in 13th quickest overall and fourth in his group. He then won a heat race to lock into the dash, where a third-place result lined him up on the inside of the third row for the main event.

"Unfortunately, the track took rubber about 10 laps in so there wasn't much passing," he said. "At that point everyone got in line and made sure to stay in the rubber."

Madsen ended the night sixth, which guided the Muddy backed team into the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series season opener on Friday. Madsen qualified 18th quickest before he placed fourth in his heat race. He then maneuvered from 14th to ninth in the main event.

Saturday's World of Outlaws program started strong for Madsen, who qualified second overall. Unfortunately, the race was rained out and run Sunday afternoon with teams having to re-qualify. This time Madsen went out late and qualified 19th quickest on the challenging track. However, he executed a last-lap pass to finish fifth in a heat race to lock into the feature.

"We drew a high marble and went out late to qualify so that wasn't in our favor," he said. "I felt like we did pretty well all night given the circumstances."

Madsen charged from 19th to 11th in the main event to garner the Hard Charger Award.

The event concluded on Sunday evening when Madsen qualified eighth quickest before he won a World of Outlaws heat race to advance into the dash. He then placed third in the dash before finishing eighth in the main event to give him 13 top 10s in his last 18 features at the DIRTcar Nationals dating back to 2014.

"It felt like we lost some pressure in our right rear tire every time we had a caution or red flag so it took a few laps to get going on every restart," he said. "It was good to close the weekend with a top 10."

Madsen and Big Game Motorsports will return to action March 9-10 in Las Vegas for a World of Outlaws doubleheader at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas.
