Matt Henderson Scores Career Win in Wartburg Speedway Special
Pockets $10,037 for Dylan Kennedy Memorial Triumph

LOUDON, Tenn. (08/10/21) – Matt Henderson scored his richest-career triumph on Friday night in Wartburg Speedway’s Dylan Kennedy Memorial. The Tennessee racer pocketed $10,037 for his winning performance aboard Darrick York’s No. 7 Turpin’s Auto Repair / CVR Race Car / Phantom Racing Engine Late Model.

“Unbelievable. Absolutely unbelievable. That’s the best to describe the win Friday night at Wartburg. The York family gave me the absolute fastest car on the property, and we got the $10,037 Dylan Kennedy Memorial win. It was a 2019 CVR Race Car that ran like a 2021, and the Phantom Racing Engine was amazing. I even knocked the radiator out of it, and it still hung in there with me,” Henderson shared. “I can’t thank the York family enough for the opportunity to drive the car, and I hope that Darrick (York) gets to feeling better soon. Last but not least, thanks to Luke Crass and Chip Vineyard for believing in me and giving me rides, where people feel okay with giving me their seats when needed.”

His latest victory came aboard his Stanco Equipment Co. No. 17 Vineyard Lawn / CVR Race Car / Hendren Racing Engine Late Model.

Friday night saw Matt Henderson hop behind the wheel of the Darrick York-owned No. 7 Late Model at Wartburg Speedway (Wartburg, Tenn.) for the Dylan Kennedy Memorial.

In a field of 31 entries, Matt clocked in second-fastest overall before placing second in the Dash. Rolling off second for the main event, Henderson inherited the lead on the 19th lap when race-long pacesetter Kenny Collins was collected in a tangle with a lapped-car. He went on to wire the field in the 50-lapper to register his 10th win of the season, which came over Jed Emert, Mike Weeks, Dan Tipton, and Jason Manley.

Henderson earned $10,037 for his victory, which by far marked the richest payday of his career.

The following night at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.), for the American All-Star Series-sanctioned Smoky Mountain Summer Showdown, Matt topped the 32-car field in time trials in his Stanco Equipment Co. No. 17 Vineyard Lawn / CVR Race Car / Hendren Racing Engine Late Model. before finishing second in the Dash. Unable to overtake polesitter Cory Hedgecock, Matt followed closely throughout the 60-lap affair to finish second. Eli Beets, Zach Sise, and Dillon Brown completed the Top-5 finishers.

Rocket1 Racing Bags Pair of Top-5 Finishes in USA Nationals Weekend
Adds Runner-Up Finish in WoO Go at Outagamie

SHINNSTON, W.Va. (08/10/21) – Brandon Sheppard and Rocket1 Racing recorded three Top-5 finishes in three Wisconsin World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Series starts last week with their Valvoline No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches/ Durham Racing Engines-powered XR1 Rocket Chassis Super Late Model.

On the heels of their consistency they were also able to extend their advantage atop the latest WoO championship standings.

“You obviously never want to have a flat tire, but having a flat tire while running second late in the race on Saturday night took away our chances of getting another USA Nationals title. However, we were able to come from the back to finish fifth, which was important as we go after another Outlaws championship,” Sheppard said. “We had a really good car all week. We’ve been really close on the car the past couple of weeks here. So, I’m really excited about that moving forward.”

The World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series drew 29 competitors to Outagamie Speedway (Seymour, Wis.) on Tuesday evening for the FVP Platinum Batteries Showdown. With a runner-up finish in his heat race sending him into the redraw, Brandon Sheppard locked into the seventh-starting position for the feature.

Charging into the Top 5 early, Brandon was up to second by lap 17 but was unable to reel in race-winner Cade Dillard. He followed Dillard across the finish line with Chris Madden, Ryan Gustin, and Brandon Overton rounding out the Top-5.

On Thursday night at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) to kick off the 34th annual USA Nationals weekend with a $6,000-to-win preliminary feature, Sheppard outran Chris Madden in his heat to pick up the win. Shortly after all six heats were finished, persistent rain postponed the feature to Friday.

Action resumed on Friday afternoon, and the fifth-starting Sheppard gained two spots in the 30-lapper to finish third.

Later Friday evening the 34th annual USA Nationals officially came to life. The program was highlighted by a pair of heat races for all competitors and Sheppard followed up a win in his first heat with a fourth-place finish in his second heat. With the Top 16 in passing points locked into Saturday night’s main event, Brandon sat fifth overall.

With a fifth-place finish in the Dash positioning him fifth on the starting grid for the $50,000-to-win, 100-lap USA Nationals on Saturday, Sheppard rebounded to finish fifth after suffering a flat right-rear tire while running in second place on lap 74. He trailed Jonathan Davenport, Brandon Overton, Ashton Winger, and Jason Feger to the checkers.

Brandon continues to lead the World of Outlaws point standings and now holds a 102-marker advantage over his closest pursuer. For complete results from these events, please visit www.WorldofOutlaws.com.

The team will be idle this weekend before rolling north for a quartet of $10,000-to-win World of Outlaws (WoO) Late Model Series events on August 19-22.

On Thursday, August 19 action opens at Orange County Fair Speedway (Middletown N.Y.) before moving to Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) on Friday, August 20. The swing continues on Saturday, August 21 at Sharon (Ohio) Speedway before drawing to a close on Sunday, August 22 at Eriez (Pa.) Speedway.

Rocket1 Racing would like to thank all of their marketing partners, which include Valvoline, Seubert Calf Ranches, Rocket Chassis, Ace Metal Works, Durham Racing Engines, FiveStar RaceCar Bodies, Gunters Honey, Hoosier Racing Tire, Integra Racing Shocks, Keyser Manufacturing, Petroff Towing, Slavic Custom Racing Shirts & Decals, Sweet Manufacturing, Sunoco Race Fuels, Accu-Force Shock Service, ATL Fuel Cells, Aurora Rod Ends, Barnes Dry Sump Oil Systems, Bazell Race Fuels, Beyea Custom Headers, Brown & Miller Racing Solutions, Brinn Transmissions, Cometic Gasket, COMP Cams, CP Carrillo, Dohm Cycles, Edelbrock, Fibreworks Composites, Hardrock Powder Coating, Howe Racing Enterprises, Jones Racing Products, Kenny’s Components, Maxima Racing Oils, MSD, NGK Spark Plugs, Tel Tac, Performance Bodies, Peterson Fluid Systems, Powers Performance, Performance Rod & Custom, Quarter Master, QuickCar Racing Products, Rocket Pre-Owned Motors, Safecraft, Show Trucks Unlimited, Simpson, Stealth Carburetors, Strange Oval, Suave Talk, Total Power Valvoline Pro-V Racing, Walker Performance Filtration, Weld Racing, Wiles Driveshafts, Wilwood Brakes, Winters Performance Products, Wrisco Aluminum, Xceldyne Valvetrain, and MSR Mafia Marketing Services.

The latest conquest came at Smokey Mountain Speedway with the American All-Star Series.

“As rough as Friday night went at Wartburg Speedway was how good things went on Saturday night at Smoky Mountain Speedway. We had a solid Black Diamond Race Car in the feature. Ashton Winger Wins World of Outlaws Prelim Event at Cedar Lake
Finishes Third in USA Nationals Crown Jewel Finale

HAMPTON, Ga. (08/10/21) – Ashton Winger enjoyed a successful crown jewel weekend during Cedar Lake Speedway’s USA Nationals in his E-Z-GO No. 12 Dekalb / Johnny Doan Plumbing/ Keyser Manufacturing/ XR1 Rocket Chassis / Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model.

He registered a thrilling $6,000 World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series prelim feature win on Friday evening before racing to a third-place finish in the USA Nationals $50,000 finale on Saturday night.

"I don't know what it is about this place," Winger said after climbing from his car and celebrating with his patented steering wheel drop on Friday evening. "This place is awesome ... to see all the awesome fans out here. This place, every time we roll in here, it feels like home. This will definitely always be a special place to me, getting my first Outlaw win here last year and now my second won here this year."

Winger then backed up his prelim feature win with a third-place finish in Saturday night’s 100 lapper. The Georgia racer ran as high as second, challenging Kyle Bronson for the lead, before seeing Jonathan Davenport slip past him for the spot and ultimately the win.

"I really thought I was going to give them guys a run there. I knew my best shot was restarts," Winger said. "I threw a couple (of sliders), and threw one, and did everything I could just short of wrecking Kyle (Bronson)  — I hope I didn't mess him up — and then the one where J.D. went to the lead, I actually think that I could've went in there a little bit harder. But I figured if I did, I was going to send J.D. and Bronson out to the corndog stand. So, I didn't figure I needed to do that.
"So congrats to J.D., he definitely had the better car than me at the end there. I could stay with him for one or two laps, but he would drive off a couple (tenths of a second) every lap. I just got beat on that last restart. It's good company to be in up here, so we'll lick our wounds and go on to the next one."
On Tuesday afternoon Ashton Winger returned to action with the World of Outlaws (WoO) Morton Buildings Late Model Series as the tour headed north to Outagamie Speedway (Seymour, Wis.) for the FVP Platinum Batteries Showdown. In a field of 29 cars, Ashton clocked in sixth fastest in his group before placing third in his heat. Holding his spot throughout the 40-lap feature, Winger recorded a 12th-place finish.

On Thursday evening the opening night of the USA Nationals weekend came to life at Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.), and Winger outdueled Dennis Erb Jr. in his heat race to pick up the win.

With Mother Nature postponing the 30-lap feature to Friday afternoon, Ashton blasted past polesitter Chase Junghans on the eighth circuit and held off Junghan’s late charge to capture his sixth win of the season and a $6,000 prize. He took the checkers ahead of Junghans, Brandon Sheppard, Jimmy Owens, and Nick Hoffman to record his second series triumph.

With a pair of heat races on Friday’s docket to kick off the 34th annual USA Nationals, Winger advanced forward five spots in his first heat to pick up the win. Coming in fourth in the second round, Ashton was tied for the lead overall in passing points with Jimmy Owens, which positioned him second on the starting grid for the Saturday night’s $50,000-to-win USA Nationals.

Grabbing the lead on the drop of the green flag, Winger held the top spot for the first three circuits until a charging Kyle Bronson grabbed the lead. Ashton went on to place third in the 100-lapper, which came behind Jonathan Davenport and Brandon Overton. Jason Feger and Brandon Sheppard completed the Top-5 finishers.

For more results from these events, please visit www.WorldofOutlaws.com .

Ashton now turns his attention back to the DIRTcar Summer Nationals trail, which includes a pair of events this weekend. On Friday night a $10,000-to-win affair is on tap at Highland (Ill.) Speedway and on Saturday evening another $10,000-to-win race will be held at Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.).

Hagar Focusing on Qualifying Entering Knoxville Nationals

Inside Line Promotions - KNOXVILLE, Iowa (Aug. 10, 2021) - Qualifying is the key word this week for Derek Hagar, who is preparing to make his second career start at the NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals presented by Casey's General Stores.

Hagar has spent the last two weekends at Knoxville Raceway, running the 31 st annual My Place Hotels 360 Knoxville Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank last weekend. He qualified 23rd quickest before winning a heat race and finishing 15th in the A Main during his preliminary night last Thursday.

"I felt like it went good, but we have to get qualifying down," he said. "We know how to race. We just need to figure out qualifying. It sets up your whole night and your whole weekend. Luckily we were in the heat race inversion, which got us on the front row. We were able to win that, which felt pretty good. Winning anything at Knoxville is pretty special.

"In the feature there were no cautions and I got tight behind a car going into a corner. I washed up and got passed by two or three cars. I noticed the middle started getting more brown. I stepped out and got my wing back and passed some cars to finish 15th. I wish there'd have been a caution to bunch us back up. I felt I was faster than guys in front of me in some parts of the race. I never could get close enough to make a move."

A crash on the opening lap of the B Main ended the event early for Hagar last Saturday.

"I felt pretty confident in our car that we would have been able to race with them," he said. "It's tough to sit there all day and then it being shortened on the first corner of the B Main. We were in the wrong place at the wrong time. On the start of the race Jack Dover went to the middle so I went to the cushion. I saw Roger Crockett go high and I tried to go under him and when I did I saw a car spin in front of us. I just climbed his right rear and it sent us for a ride."

Next up is the 410 Nationals this week. Hagar's preliminary night is Wednesday.

"My main goal is to qualify good," he said. "I want to get in the top 15 in qualifying on our prelim night to put ourselves in a good points position. Then we want to transfer through the heat and get as many points during that prelim night to put ourselves in a good position for Saturday."
