Wil Herrington and JCM Motorsports Register First Win of 2023
Georgia Racer Earns $10,053 for First-Career Spring Nationals Triumph
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (03/06/23) – Wil Herrington not only notched his first win of the season on Saturday evening, but he also registered his first-career Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals victory.
His $10,053 inaugural triumph was achieved at Senoia Raceway aboard his JCM Motorsports No. 19m Torco Advanced Lubricants / Yellow Hammer Design & Construction / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model,
“Oh man, I’m out of breath," Herrington said in Victory Lane. "I knew Ashton (Winger) was gonna be good; he was good in the heat. I knew (Payton) Freeman was gonna be good too, so I just tried to set a pace, but I guess (Winger) caught a hole wrong. After that I just tried to manage this thing. I didn’t want to see that green-white-checkered (finish) there at the end, but it all worked out and we got the win.
“We didn’t have as good a Speedweeks as we would’ve liked, but we learned a lot that’s helped us get ready for the rest of the season. I’m just honored to be the lucky guy that gets to drive this car for JCM Motorsports. Thanks to them and everybody who makes it all happen.”
JCM Motorsports returned to action on Friday evening with Wil Herrington competing in the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals series opener at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway.
Amassing 32 Late Models for the first event of the 16-race miniseries, Herrington raced his way into the $10,053-to-win A-Main via a consolation victory after finishing fifth in his heat race. Rolling off 19th for the main event, Wil was an early exit from the 53-lap affair on the 14th circuit and was credited with a 17th-place finish.
On Saturday evening at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.), Wil stopped the clock third-fastest in his group before placing first in his heat race.
He started on the pole for the main event and led the first eight circuits before Ashton Winger took command. Regaining the lead from Winger on lap 15 of the feature, Herrington paced the field in the remainder of the 35-lapper to secure his first win of the 2023 campaign and a $10,053 prize. He took the checkers ahead of Ross Bailes, Parker Martin, Haiden Cowan, and Payton Freeman.
Full results from the events are available at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com .
The team is currently unsure of when their next event will be. Wil and his fiancée Harley are expecting the arrival of their first child in the next few weeks.
Once upcoming dates are confirmed, they will be posted on the team website at www.JCMMotorsports.com .

Chris Ferguson Banks $20,000 Victory in Cherokee’s March Madness
WoO Late Model Triple Header Next on the Schedule
MT. HOLLY, N.C. (03/06/23) – Chris Ferguson enjoyed a successful debut of his brand-new Diff-Tran Machining No. 22 Schaffer’s Racing Oil K & K Trucking / Live Oak Aesthetic and Family Dentistry / Longhorn Chassis / Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model on Sunday afternoon.
The driver known as “Fergy” stormed to the $20,000 Southern All Star (SAS) Dirt Racing Series triumph in the Ginger Owens Memorial March Madness at South Carolina’s Cherokee Speedway. He persevered in the tire conservation game to claim the richest payday in the history of the event.
"It's amazing. This place has been awesome to me. It's taken a lot from me. I've had a lot of races here I should've won," Ferguson said in Victory Lane. "Man, I was just praying that we would make it, you know? I got back there in fifth and just rode.
"I've been leading this race and been on the other end of it. It's taken some wins from me, but I just can't thank the good Lord enough. He gave me this win and here we are."
Debuting in a brand-new Longhorn Chassis, Chris Ferguson made the short trip to Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) on Sunday afternoon to pilot his Live Oak Aesthetic and Family Dentistry No. 22 Late Model in the annual Ginger Owens March Madness.
Drawing 29 Southern All Star Series entries, Ferguson followed up the third-fastest qualifying lap in his group with a second-place finish in his heat race. A year after suffering a flat tire while leading the same event in the final laps, Chris was on the receiving end of good fortune in the feature as he grabbed the lead on lap 36 and led the remaining 15 circuits to bag his first win of 2023 and a $20,000 paycheck.
He recorded his third-career Southern All Star Series victory ahead of his cousin Carson with Caleb Gay, Dillon Brown, and Ryan Gustin completing the Top-5 finishers.
Ferguson's voice cracked in Victory Lane because the team is racing without former crew member and transporter driver Robert "Paw Paw" Bramlett, who died Friday at the age of 71, and another crew member's mother who died recently.
"I'm just so thankful because all these people ... there's nowhere else like this track," Ferguson said while soaking up the victory. "To me, this is special. All these people in Victory Lane and all these people that pulled for me. I'm just so grateful and thankful for you guys."
Full results from the event are available at www.SASDirt.com .
Chris will be idle this coming weekend before returning to competition on March 16-18 with a World of Outlaws (WoO) Case Late Model Series tripleheader. Action opens with the rescheduled $10,000-to-win Tennessee Tip-Off Classic at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Thursday night before rolling into Boyd’s Speedway (Ringgold, Ga.) on Friday and Saturday for respective $10,000-to-win and $20,000-to-win programs.

Brandon Overton Scores Swainsboro Spring Nationals Triumph
Atomic Speedway and Brownstown Speedway LOLMDS Double Shot Up Next
EVANS, Ga. (03/07/23) – Brandon Overton added to his early-season win tally on Friday night with a $10,053 triumph aboard his Wells & Sons Motorsports No. 76 Muscle Factory / Allstar Concrete / Longhorn Chassis by Wells Motorsports/ Clements Racing Engines - powered Super Late Model.
The victory was registered at Swainsboro Raceway in Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals competition and marked the second-straight year that Overton has won the event.
“Swainsboro (Raceway) was good to us last year and was good to us again this year. I followed (Sam) Seawright for a while early in the feature, and then got to the lead and got the win. Saturday at Senoia (Raceway) was just a tough deal for everybody, and I know the track tried their best. We just decided to call it a night after time trials,” Overton said. “We didn’t have the best of luck at Cherokee (Speedway) on Sunday, but sometimes it just goes that way. We’re already looking down the road to the next one.”
Brandon Overton entered his Wells Motorsports No. 76 Late Model into battle at Swainsboro (Ga.) Raceway on Friday afternoon for the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals opener.
With the 32-car field divided into two groups for time trials, Brandon recorded the fastest lap in his group before placing first in his heat race. Soaring ahead of fellow front-row starter Sam Seawright on the 10th circuit of the feature, Overton paced the field for the remainder of the 53-lapper to claim his fourth win of the season and eighth-career Spring Nationals triumph.
He collected the $10,053 payday ahead of Seawright, Mike Marlar, Ethan Dotson, and Carson Ferguson.
The team followed the Spring Nationals series to Senoia (Ga.) Raceway on Saturday but with unfavorable track conditions due to recent rain, Overton elected to scratch from the remainder of the evening after time trials.
For the Southern All Star Series-sanctioned Ginger Owens March Madness on Sunday at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.), Brandon secured his spot into the $20,000-to-win A-Main with a runner-up finish in his heat race.
Starting the feature in the seventh position, Overton climbed as high as fourth but contact with another competitor after a botched restart led to an early exit. He was scored 20th in the final rundown.
Full results from the events are available at www.SouthernNationalsSeries.com and www.SASDirt.com .
The team is scheduled to resume action on March 17 – 18 with a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series doubleheader. Friday will find the team at Atomic Speedway (Alma, Ohio) for a $12,000-to-win program, while Saturday’s event will be held at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway, where the annual Ice Breaker will post a $15,000 winner’s check.
Brandon is second in the latest LOLMDS standings.

By Fully Injected Motorsports:
GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. (March 7, 2023) - It was a busy two days for “Blackjack” Brian Brown and his own Brian Brown Racing, but despite the chaotic Sunday and Monday Volusia Speedway Park visit that boasted three features in two days, the Grain Valley, Missouri-based open wheel program prevailed, capping their venture with a pair of top-five finishes, one of which a podium score during the DIRTcar Nationals make-up feature contested Sunday, March 5.
Brown, ace of the Casey’s, FVP, Andy's Frozen Custard, Impact Signs Awnings and Wraps, Mt. Dew Overdrive, HAWK Hunting, Ditzfeld Transfer, Champion Brands, No. 21 sprint car, finished third in his podium quest, charging ahead from eighth to do so. Impressive enough, the podium result was Brown’s second top-five on the evening, actually initiating the night with a fifth-place finish in Volusia’s Spring Showdown opener just a few minutes prior. A “quick time” effort during qualifying set the stage for his entire display.
Although the 2022 Knoxville Raceway track champion was unable to go three-for-three within the top-five column at Volusia, the potential was there, as Brown started ninth in the Spring Showdown finale on Monday, March 6. Unfortunately, a late race turnaround forced Brown to the tail of the field; he was eventually scored 17th.
“What a great night we had on Sunday. We were able to unload and be quick right out of the box and that’s a great asset. Two features resulted in two, solid finishes and I couldn’t be more proud,” Brian Brown said. “We were just a bit off on Monday and didn’t get the A-Main result we wanted. But to come out swinging the first night and earn two top fives says a lot about what this team is capable of and what our potential is.
“Hats off to this entire Casey’s/FVP team..Chad Morgan, Justin Lawer, Lath Hicks, Danny…they’ve been doing a phenomenal job and we’re all really pumped for 2023,” Brown continued. “We’re going to keep our eyes on the weather before we make any decisions regarding our next few weekends. If the weather is good, we’ll head east and spend some time in Pennsylvania. If not, we’ll pick up with the World of Outlaws as soon as we can.”
ON DECK:
Brian Brown and Brian Brown Racing will continue their 2023 campaign with an action-packed weekend in Pennsylvania Posse Country, first joining the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series in a Port Royal Speedway doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, March 10-11, followed by Williams Grove Speedway’s season opener on Sunday, March 12.

2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Standings: 9th | 634 points
By Fully Injected Motorsports:
CARLISLE, Pa. (March 7, 2023) - Despite what proved to be a hectic two days at Volusia Speedway Park in DeLeon Springs, Florida, participating in three A-Mains in two days which included the DIRTcar Nationals make-up feature from early February, CJB Motorsports and Spencer Bayston put it all together, eventually concluding their Florida campaign with back-to-back top-ten scores, the best being a fifth-place result in the Spring Showdown finale on Monday, March 6.
Bayston, who is currently ninth in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship chase, started eighth on the A-Main lineup before powering ahead to his top-five, forced to tango early with fellow championship contender, Logan Schuchart, then sneaking by reigning Series champion, Brad Sweet, with five remaining.
In addition, the CJB Motorsports hotshoe and Lebanon, Indiana, native finished sixth in the DIRTcar Nationals make-up feature on Sunday, March 5, all after finishing 12th in the Spring Showdown opener the same evening.
Despite being unable to attain a top-ten outcome during the Series’ season-opening Volusia visits in early February, the recent trek was a dose of redemption, working to use their newly activated momentum during the coming trip to Pennsylvania.
“I am really pleased with our Florida effort. We battled through a bit of an issue on night one, but we were able to persevere for two great finishes and I’m super proud of that,” Bayston, driver of the TrueTimber Camo, Rothco, JRC Transportation, Nyce Crete and Landis, Ecynbro Trucking, C&S Lawn and Landscape, Kistler Engines, Highlands’ Power Sports, High Performance Lubricants, No. 5 sprint car, said. “Any time you can battle for a top-five against this level of talent and competition, it’s a success story. Building consistency and finding comfort within our team has always been our priority and we’re excited to take all of this momentum back to Pennsylvania with us.”
ON DECK:
Spencer Bayston and CJB Motorsports will continue their 2023 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a visit to Pennsylvania Posse Country, rejoining the Greatest Show On Dirt in a Port Royal Speedway doubleheader on Friday and Saturday, March 10-11. Tom Berry Jr. Records First-Career USMTS Feature Triumph
King of America XII Awaits at Humboldt Speedway
DES MOINES, Iowa (03/07/23) – Tom Berry Jr. achieved another career first on Saturday evening. The Iowan piloted his Brodehl Trucking / Team Harris Auto Racing No. 11x Berry Racing Enterprises / Jahnke Heating and Air Conditioning Modified to the $10,000 triumph with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).
Berry’s maiden trip to Victory Lane with the tour came at Texas’ Rocket Raceway Park during the 13th annual Summit Spring Nationals after a spirited late-race battle with Terry Phillips.
“Me and (Terry) Phillips are good buddies,” Berry commented in Victory Lane. “We’ve probably burned 1,000 laps together with the crate stuff so I appreciate Terry for not giving it to me, but he didn't dirty me up for the win. I can't thank everyone enough for sticking it out. It's a little chilly out here with the wind and what not, and I'm just grateful to be up here. My dad (Tom Berry Sr.) died about six years ago on Tuesday, so he is definitely looking over me on this one.”
Tom Berry Jr. enjoyed an emphatic start to the 2023 United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) season with a $10,000 victory in the lid-lifter on Saturday night at Rocket Raceway Park (Petty, Texas).
With 87 Modifieds in the pit area Tom struggled in qualifying with the ninth fastest time in his group. However, he charged from ninth-to-second in his heat race to earn the second-starting spot for the feature.
Briefly surrendering the lead on multiple occasions, Tom ultimately took control late and fended off a hard-charging Terry Phillips to register his first-career USMTS win, which was worth $10,000.
He was followed across the finish line by Terry Phillips, Gary Christian, Jason Hughes, and Darron Fuqua.
On Sunday evening his luck wouldn't be as good as preliminary action saw him falling short of qualifying for the feature due to mechanical issues, and he was forced to utilize a provisional to start 25th in the 50-lap feature. Tom was able to advance to an 18th-place finish in the final rundown.
Tom currently leads the Grant Junghans USMTS Rookie of the Year points, and is fourth in the overall series standings.
Full weekend results as well as the latest points are available at www.USMTS.com .
