Cleveland, Tennessee (08/29/17) – Riley Hickman parked his Hickman Manufacturing #R1 Capital Chassis/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model in Victory Lane on Saturday night at Senoia Raceway.

The Ultimate Super Late Model Series event rewarded him with a $4,000 payday.

“I love coming over here (to Senoia). Some of our finishes don’t prove it,” Hickman said. “We’ve led a lot of races over here and at the end give it up or just couldn’t put a solid 40 or 50 laps together and finally we were able to do that. Heck, I’m wore out just thinking about it in the race car, just hoping, telling myself not to screw up. Whenever we can go somewhere you’ve got to finesse, that’s more my speed.”

ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series competition found Riley Hickman battling a field of 22 Super Late Models at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Georgia) on Saturday evening for the Friends of the Dream 40. Laying down the fastest time overall in qualifying, Riley earned the pole position for the feature.

Blaney Extends Winning Streak to 28 Years Thanks to Attica Triumph

Inside Line Promotions - CHILLICOTHE, Ohio (Aug. 29, 2017) - Dale Blaney can breathe a sigh of relief after he recorded his first feature victory of the season last Friday at Attica Raceway Park.

The victory gives him at least one triumph in all 28 years he has been a sprint car driver.

"I'd been thinking about it for the past couple of weeks," he said. "I hadn't won a race this year and we're at the end of August. I needed to get one done. It was cool to be able to get that and have gone every year of my career with a race win."

Blaney entered the night at the high-banked oval in Attica, Ohio, with only a half dozen starts with the J&M Motorsports team this season.

"I've known Gene Jenkins and Scott Mertz for a long time," he said. "Gene used to work for me when I ran the World of Outlaws team in 2000. Communication is the key to everything and we get along good. Our main goal is to have fun and enjoy the races."

The team kicked off the night by setting quick time during qualifying.

"It's always good to have quick time," Blaney said. "We knew we just had to run in the top five in the heat race to get in the redraw. I wasn't very good in the heat race, which led us to change a few things for the feature that got us good again."

Blaney finished fourth in the heat race to lock into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 4 to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

"It was good to start fourth," he said. "I jumped right into third. Cap Henry and Chris Andrews were out there. I let the race come to us. Chris Andrews was fighting for a championship so it was tough for him to race aggressive. Once I got by him for second I felt like my car was good enough, but it was going to be tough to catch Cap. He made a mistake there and gave me an opportunity.

"It was good to lead a race for a change, being able to lead and dictate what you want to do. Not being in that position for a while it was kind of weird. If things don't go your way for a while you just race different. Once we got the lead stuff came back to me."

Blaney took the lead on Lap 19 and led the final dozen laps to post his 26 th career win at Attica Raceway Park.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Atomic Speedway, where Blaney opened the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions show by qualifying second quickest in his group. He then placed second in a heat race and fourth in a dash to start the main event eighth.

"We were pretty solid all night," he said. "I jumped from eighth to fifth and felt my car was good. It was just hard to pass. The track took a little bit of rubber and off turn two it took it early, about five laps in. In turns three and four you had to be in that certain lane around Lap 10 or else you were going to get passed. Track position was pretty crucial."

Blaney ended with a fifth-place result, which was his sixth top five of the season with the All Stars.

Blaney will return to Zemco Racing next Monday for a race at Port Royal Speedway in Port Royal, Pa.

Hagar Nets Second-Place Finish During ASCS National Tour Season Debut

Inside Line Promotions - LEXINGTON, Tenn. (Aug. 29, 2017) - Derek Hagar earned a runner-up result last Thursday during his Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour season debut.

Hagar opened the event at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Ark., by advancing from sixth to third place in a heat race. That earned enough points to lock into the feature redraw, in which he pulled the No. 4 to start the main event on the outside of the second row.

"On the first start Giovanni Scelzi, who started in front of me, spun to the right just in front of me," he said. "I don't know how we weren't caught up in it. We were able to make it through that and restarted on the front row. We got the jump on (Aaron) Reutzel and led the first two laps. Then Tim (Crawley) got by me and drove off. His car was working nice. We were conservative with our setup because there was moisture in the middle of the track. We left it on the free side and I started losing drive. Reutzel and myself had a good race in traffic doing slide jobs though."

Hagar claimed the battle for second to garner his 15th podium finish of the season.

"The whole Midsouth area represented," he said. "I think there was only one national guy in the top five. It shows the strength of our area. We can compete with the best of them."

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Lexington 104 Speedway, where Hagar placed second in the dash before he won a USCS Series heat race. That lined him up on the outside of the front row for the A Main.

"I fell back to third and got back up to second," he said. "We went to lap a car and they went from the bottom to the top. He went to the bottom going in and had been running the bottom. I went in on the cushion and went to drive around him. He hit the bottom and let it slide up. I slid over the cushion and hit the wall, which broke the driveline. It bent the right rear wheel and pulled the torque tube and driveshaft out."

Hagar was unable to continue and was credited with an 18th-place finish.

He is slated to compete this Saturday and Sunday at Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo., with the ASCS Warrior Region. Hagar placed fourth during his debut at the track last month.

Skinner Shines During ASCS National Tour Show at Riverside International Speedway

Inside Line Promotions - LEXINGTON, Tenn. (Aug. 29, 2017) - Marshall Skinner charged to a top-five finish during his first Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour start of the season last Thursday at Riverside International Speedway.

Skinner defended his home turf at the bulling in West Memphis, Ark., where he maneuvered from sixth to fourth place in a heat race to lock into the 14 th starting position for the main event.

"I was really good all night," he said. "I went out in the second set of hot laps and the race track was really greasy. I went up to watch the third set and they called out the top times and I was up there at the top. Sammy (Swindell) knocked me off, but I was still second quick. I moved up a bit in the heat race and that got me in the show so I didn't have to run the B Main."

Skinner continued to show his strength in the A Main.

"I had a really good start," he said. "When we came around for Lap 1 I was probably up to seventh. I was running through the middle of the track and most everyone else was bouncing up against the wall on the cushion. My car was stuck like glue. We had a long green-flag run and I wish we'd have had a yellow or two between there."

Skinner powered from 14th to earn a fourth-place result.

"With that field of cars and getting a top five, I was pretty proud," he said.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Lexington 104 Speedway, where he placed fifth in the dash before advancing from seventh to fifth place in a heat race at the USCS Series event. That started Skinner on the outside of the sixth row for the main event.

"The track was one lane and a momentum deal," he said. "If you got out of the rubber you got passed. I wasn't doing anything exotic. I pretty much held my own. It laid rubber about four laps into it and you just stayed in the rubber lap after lap."

Skinner worked his way to a ninth-place result, which was his 19 th top 10 in 23 races this season.

Dover Charges From 20th to Capture Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints Event at I-80

Inside Line Promotions - GREENWOOD, Neb. (Aug. 29, 2017) - Jack Dover's performance last Friday was a huge boost for his team.

"I had the mindset that I was going to win," he said. "I said that in the middle of last week. I was ready to get a win and get after it."

Dover entered the Carpet Land Nebraska 360 Sprints event at I-80 Speedway with high expectations, which were met during the early portion of the night before a parts failure late in his heat race hampered the team.

Dover had maneuvered from fifth to second place in a heat race when the wing slider handle broke, spraying him with hot oil. Dover dove into the infield with two laps remaining and was credited with a DNF. That relegated him to the 20th starting position for the Speedy Bill Smith Memorial A Main.

"On the parade lap when we were warming up I thought the car was junk," he said. "It seemed to get really good as the race went on. I'd go high in turn one and cut the bottom off turn two. Nobody else was able to do that."

Dover caught a few breaks during the 24-lap main event.

"The yellows played out perfect for us that night," he said. "We slowly worked up to 12th and a yellow came out. We got up to 10 th and a yellow came out. We got up to fourth and a yellow came out with five laps to go.

"On the restart we went to the bottom and everyone else went to the top. We got up to third and came back to turns one and two. I got up to second and was reeling in the leader, but I missed my marks with two laps to go. I told myself I had to hit my marks to win this. I did in turns three and four and again in turns one and two after we took the white flag. I did it perfect and got him coming out of turn two on the last lap."

Dover charged from 20th to capture his eighth triumph of the season thanks to a last-lap pass.

"I think it's a huge confidence booster," he said. "Before that race I was fed up thinking I wasn't going to win a race again. And then we got a win from 20th."

Dover will take that momentum into the 5th annual RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Nationals, which is this Friday through Sunday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb.

"We'll take my car and use Chris Roseland's engine and he'll race the car I won in last year," he said. "Hopefully we can get another one."

Dover bested 73 cars to win the event in 2014 and he defeated a 117-car field last year for the event title.
