Riley Hickman Records Runner-Up Finish in Deep Fried 75

Cleveland, Tennessee (10/16/18) – Riley Hickman piloted his Competition Racing Equipment #1 Hickman Manufacturing/ Savage Chassis/ Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model to a runner-up finish in the finale for the 14th annual Deep Fried 75 on Saturday night.

“Congratulation to (Billy) Moyer Jr. and his team. They just had a better car then we did,” Hickman said. “I didn’t want to see (the last caution). I don’t know if I could’ve done anything, but hopefully I could’ve made it interesting. Well take it .. (the car is) in one piece … and go on. It’s been fun getting to race with these guys. Not sure how much more I’m going to get to race with them, but it’s been fun.

“Glad we were able to come over here and get a podium finish. I kinda thought second was where we needed to start at in the race there. But I was just asleep over there a little bit on the start and just couldn’t make it happen. It was still a solid night our team against a really good field of competitors.”

On Friday night Riley Hickman trekked to Duck River Raceway Park (Wheel, Tennessee), where he entered the seventh annual Deep Fried 75. With 36 Super Late Models on hand for the two-day event, Hickman laid down the fastest time overall in qualifying before placing second in the Dash behind Billy Moyer Jr.

Earning the outside-front-row starting position for the $14,500-to-win A-Main on Saturday night, Riley pursued the leader throughout the 75-lapper before registering a runner-up finish behind Billy Moyer Jr. with Victor Lee, Morgan Bagley, and Austin Rettig completing the Top-5 finishers.

Josh Richards Ends Winless Skid with World 100 Prelim Victory
Dirt Track World Championship on Tap this Weekend

St. Marys, Ohio (10/16/18) – Josh Richards was finally able to shake the monkey from his back on Saturday afternoon at Eldora Speedway. The driver of the Bulk Material Lift #1 Colt/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model picked up a $10,000 win in a preliminary feature for the 48th annual World 100. He backed it up with a Top-10 finish in the coveted finale later that night.

“It feels fantastic,” Richards said after climbing out of his Best Performance Motorsports XR1 Rocket car on Eldora’s winner’s stage on a cool Saturday afternoon. “I almost forgot what it feels like to be up here.

“It’s been a little bit of a tough year,” he continued. “We’ve had some speed, we just haven’t had things go our way. It feels good to finally get one.”

After seeing Friday night's preliminary program postponed to Saturday afternoon by rain, Josh hit the ground running by qualifying third fastest in his group. With the Top-4 starters inverted in each heat race, Richards surged to the lead in the closing laps to score the win.

The feature redraw found Josh pulling the second-starting position for his 25-lap prelim. In the main event, Richards jumped to the lead as the race went green and never looked back on his way to the $10,000 victory, which marked his third triumph of the 2018 season. He was followed across the line by Chris Madden, Mike Marlar, Don O'Neal, and Earl Pearson Jr.

Saturday night would find Josh starting third in his heat race. He ran in the Top-5 early in the event before retiring with handling issues. Via being the high point driver in preliminary action, he received the 19th-starting spot for the 100-lap, $51,000-to-win finale. Josh raced around mid-pack throughout the mega finale before surging late to a seventh-place finish.

“It wasn’t a bad night, we just put ourselves behind by having to take the provisional, which pinned us deep in the starting grid for the 100 lapper,” Richards said. “There were patches through the feature, where the car felt really good. Once we got heat in the tires, the car would go away a little bit. We felt like we probably had a fifth-place car or so. We’ll take this though and move onto the next one.”

Tyler Erb Records Podium Finish in 48th annual World 100
Showdown in Senoia Next on the Terbo 2018 Slate

New Waverly, Texas (10/16/18) –
Tyler Erb recorded an impressive third-place finish on Saturday night in the 48th running of the coveted World 100 behind the wheel of his New Point Lighting and Design Inc. #91 Roberts Bee Company/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

“I’m so proud of what we were able to accomplish (in the World 100 feature). Man, honestly, before this year, I don’t think I’ve ever even finished a 100-lap race. And I ran eighth at Knoxville and run third here,” Erb said. “I’m just maturing a little bit behind the wheel and trying to take care of my equipment … I don’t know, it just takes time. I’m only 21, so we’ll just have to see what happens next year.

“It was awesome in the feature. I really honestly didn’t get to race with Jimmy (Owens) there. We got to (a lapped car) and I just made a mistake and drove it into the fence off of (turn) two. And I was like, ‘Man, I just need to slow down and maintain and run third and get out of this place.’ It was an awesome, awesome run, and I’m super proud of my team."

On Saturday morning Tyler Erb was one of 78 Super Late Models registered at Eldora Speedway (Rossburg, Ohio) for the rescheduled World 100. Gaining one spot in his heat race, Erb grabbed the fourth-and-final transfer spot, which positioned him 16th on the starting grid for the final $10,000-to-win preliminary feature of the day. Improving one spot in the 25-lap affair, Tyler scored a 15th-place outing.

Saturday evening found the final leg of the mega event contested. Tyler locked his spot into the $51,000-to-win A-Main with a third-place finish in his heat race.

Rolling off 16th for the 100-lap finale, Tyler Erb quickly charged through the field as he worked his way to as high as the runner-up spot in the closing laps. Contact with the backstretch wall with just a few circuits remaining found him slipping back to the third position, and that’s where he would cross the finish line behind Tim McCreadie and Jimmy Owens with Scott Bloomquist and Brandon Overton completing the Top-5 finishers.

Mack McCarter Scores Emotional Win at 411 Motor Speedway
Volunteer Speedway Championship Night Up Next

Gatlinburg, Tennessee (10/16/18) – Mack McCarter parked his McCarter Brothers Racing #51Tennessee Homemade Wines/ Parkway Liquor Store/ Longhorn Chassis Late Model in Victory Lane for the first time in 2018 on Saturday night during the Save The Tata’s Race Against Breast Cancer event. The win came at 411 Motor Speedway and had a lot of sentimental value for the Tennessee racer.

“What can I say I am blessed to be able to have a wonderful family and great help,” McCarter commented. “This win was special for me because this is my first win with both my kids and wife there. The race in general means a lot to me and my family because cancer is a horrible thing and it’s took great people from us. This is my first win since my papaw died last December. Then you have my mother-in-law, Christy Galyon that had breast cancer but she beat its butt!

“Then Shawn Lowe’s wife just passed last week from this horrible sickness, so it just means a lot to me. I want to dedicate this win to Shawn and his family because this time is especially hard on them, and I just want them to know we are here for them. Also, my aunt Pam is fighting cancer and still doing treatments. This win is dedicated to everyone who has or is fighting the battle.”

Behind the wheel of the McCarter Farms #51 Crate Late Model, Mack McCarter was one of 15 entries on hand at 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) on Saturday evening for the track’s final points show. Laying down the third-fastest time in qualifying, Mack earned the 3rd-starting position for the feature.

Using lapped traffic to his advantage late, McCarter wrestled away the lead from Trevor Sise in the closing laps en route to his first win of the season and a $1,000 payday. Sise, Josh Henry, Rusty Ballenger, and Clay Coghlan rounded out the Top-5 finishers in the 25-lap affair.

Full results from the weekend are available at www.411MotorSpeedway.net .

McCarter looks to return to action this Sunday, October 21 at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee) for the 2018 Championship Night at the high-banked oval. For more information on the event, please visit www.VolunteerSpeedway.com .
