Nick Hoffman Remains Unbeaten in ‘21 Summit Modified Nationals
Takes Seven-Race Win Streak and Points Lead into Week No. 3
Mooresville, North Carolina (06/28/21) – Plain and simple, Nick Hoffman has been totally dominant thus far into the 2021 Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals. Hoffman has won all seven events and has led every lap of feature competition thus far in his Elite Chassis No. 2 Wehrs Machine / Fox Shocks Modified.
With his seven-straight wins, Hoffman has now increased his 2021-win tally to 18. Additionally, he now holds 45-career Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals triumphs.
“The only thing that could slow us down this week was Mother Nature. In fact, you could say she won more races than me this week, but we were still able to sneak a pair of events in, which we won. I’m so proud of what we are accomplishing with this team. It’s a testament to hard work and great support,” Hoffman shared.
After a three-day break in Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals action, Nick Hoffman took his No. 2 Elite Chassis back into battle on Wednesday night at La Salle Speedway (La Salle, Ill.). With 16 entries on hand Hoffman successfully executed yet another perfect night at the track to score his sixth-straight series victory, which was worth $1,500.
“Hot rod’s just been really good. Nothing’s really gone wrong, it’s just all going our way right now. I come out here and do the same thing every single night,” Hoffman said. “Me and Shawn [crew guy] worked our butts off today, had a couple of issues earlier, but we smoothed it all out,” Hoffman said in Victory Lane.
Hoffman’s 44th-career tour win also marked his 17th-overall victory of the 2021 campaign. He was followed across the finish line by Mike McKinney, Allen Weisser, Ray Bollinger, and Tommy Sheppard Jr.
On Thursday night Mother Nature nixed the scheduled program at Spoon River Speedway. As a result, Hoffman enjoyed a night off before racing to his seventh-straight victory on Friday night with a flag-to-flag performance Sycamore Speedway (Maple Park, Ill.). Nick’s 18th win of the year came over Mike McKinney, Kelly Kovski, Hunt Gossum, and Tim Hamburg.
“Racecar’s so balanced, I can pretty much go anywhere, and it’s really fun to drive right now,” Hoffman said following the triumph.
Both Saturday and Sunday’s Summit Racing Equipment Modified Nationals events Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 and Jacksonville Speedway were washed away.
Nick Hoffman Racing has a full slate of action scheduled for the upcoming weekend. After being idle for a few days the team returns to action with the Summit Modified Nationals on Friday night at The Dirt Oval at Route 66 (Joliet, Ill.) before skipping a night of tour action on Saturday with a trip to Indiana’s Lawrenceburg Speedway for the $10,444.44-to-win Merrill Downey Memorial.
Sunday night will see Hoffman back to the Summit Modified Nationals grind with a trip to Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.). On Thursday the tour moves to Spoon River Speedway (Canton, Ill.) before invading Sycamore Speedway (Maple Park, Ill.) on Friday. The weekend is rounded out with Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.) on Saturday and Jacksonville (Ill.) Speedway on Sunday.

Brandon Overton Races to Second-Career Firecracker 100 Title
Wins $6,000 Prelim and $30,000 Finale at Lernerville Speedway
EVANS, Ga. (06/28/21) – Brandon Overton continued his hot streak over the weekend by picking up a pair of wins during the 15th Annual Firecracker 100. Not only did he win a $6,000 prelim on Friday night, but he also scored the $30,000 finale win on Saturday evening in his Wells & Sons Motorsports No. 76 Crossfit Overton/ Allstar Concrete/ Longhorn Chassis by Wells/ Clements Racing Engine-powered Super Late Model.
The triumph in the finale marked the second Firecracker 100 title of his young career as his 2021-win total swelled to 17.
“Man, this is just unbelievable to see what we’ve accomplished so far this year. We weren’t great on Thursday, but we went to work and won on Friday night. I felt good about my car going into Saturday. But then in the feature… I honestly didn’t expect to win that thing. I got hit the first lap and it knocked the steering wheel out of my hand, and the car felt kinda funny, but I got to the lead. Then I got run over by another car under caution, and I thought it flattened the left-front tire,” Overton said with a satirical laugh. “Luckily the tire wasn’t flat, and I kept my calm. Late in the race the car got to be a handful, but we got the win and that’s all that matters.
“I know that people probably think I sound like a broken record player, but I just can’t thank David and Eric Wells and everyone who makes this opportunity possible. We’re on a heck of a ride right now, and hopefully we can keep it rolling.”
Thursday night found Wells Motorsports pilot Brandon Overton in action at Lernerville Speedway (Sarver, Pa.) for the 15th annual Firecracker 100 weekend. Drawing 53 World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series entries, Overton clocked in fifth fastest in his group before placing third in his heat race. Starting the $6,000-to-win preliminary feature in 15th, Brandon improved four spots in the 30-lapper to place 11th.
On Friday afternoon for the second round of preliminary action, Brandon marched forward four spots in his heat to pick up the 10-lap victory.
Main event action found Overton sneaking past early race-leader Mark Whitener on the bottom on lap 13 as he cruised to his 16th win of the season. Michael Norris, Mark Whitener, Dennis Erb Jr., and Brandon Sheppard completed the Top-5 finishers. He earned $6,000 for his winning performance.
With preliminary results lining him up on the pole for his heat race on Saturday afternoon, Overton streaked to a 10-lap heat race victory, sending him into the redraw. Receiving the fourth-starting position for the Firecracker 100, Brandon overtook race-long leader Chris Madden on lap 41 to assume command of the top spot. After contact with another competitor under caution saw Overton slow for a brief minute, Brandon dominated the second half of the race to capture his second-career Firecracker 100 victory and 16th World of Outlaws triumph.
He pocketed $30,000 for his 17th win of the season. Chris Madden, Dennis Erb Jr., Darrell Lanigan, and Brandon Sheppard trailed him the checkers in the 100-lap affair.

Tyler Stevens Tops 67 Speedway Late Model Competition
Adds Runner-Up Finish at Ark-La-Tex Speedway
Searcy, Arkansas (06/28/21) –Tyler Stevens notched his seventh victory of the 2021 season over the weekend in his W&W Timber No. 2 Stallion Transportation Group / XR1 Rocket Chassis Crate Late Model.
Stevens latest victory came on Friday night at 67 Speedway and was worth $1,500.
“We had a great night at 67 Speedway. The folks at 67 Speedway have done a great job with the place, and the Grand Opening event was a blast. On Saturday night we had a good car at Ark-La-Tex (Speedway), and that’s one of my favorite places. They’ve had a lot of rain down there over the past month though, and it got pretty rough, which isn’t my cup of tea. We still managed a second-place finish behind Jon Mitchell, who was the man to the beat,” Stevens said. “A very special thanks goes out to my dad Larry for helping me this weekend as we endured the hot and humid weather.
“We will be taking a few weeks off to go through everything and spend some time with family. Thanks so much to everyone, who supports our program.”
On a hot summer weekend Tyler Stevens and TLP Motorsports returned to action with a doubleheader in Arkansas and Louisiana. Action kicked off on Friday night at Texarkana’s 67 Speedway, where thirteen Crate Late Model entries were on hand for battle in the $1,500-to-win program.
Tyler swept the program with a heat race win from the fourth-starting spot and then a commanding feature performance from the pole position. The victory was his seventh of the 2021 season and came over Jon Mitchell, Robbie Starnes, Jamie Burford, and Brandon Ball.
On Saturday night the team slid south to Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, La.) for another Crate Late Model event. For the second-straight night Tyler won his heat race from the fourth-starting spot. Via his prelim performance, he started second in the feature. Stevens battled rough track conditions throughout the feature before crossing the finish line in the second position behind Jon Mitchell.
The team is currently working on their upcoming race schedule, and once it’s finalized it will be posted on the team’s website at www.TylerStevensRacing.com .

Howard Moore Masters Thunderhill for Win No. 3 of 2021
Four-Race Holiday Weekend Swing Up Next
Memphis, Tennessee (06/28/21) – Howard Moore wired the United Sprint Car Series (USCS) Outlaw Thunder action on Saturday night at Thunderhill Raceway Park for his third triumph of the year. His winning performance came aboard the Rains Motorsports/ Mike's Pool Care No. 3 High-Performance Lubricants Sprint Car.
"We had an awesome racecar both nights. We got buried early in the night at Lexington (104 Speedway) with the pill draw. I was able to move forward in the field pretty quick in the feature, but we kept having cautions nullify passes, which made things a bit harder. By the time I got to second, Dale (Howard) was checked out, so we settled for second," Moore shared.
"On Saturday night we hit the ground running and never looked back to get the win. I wouldn't have been able to get back to Victory Lane without the hard work of A.G. (Rains) and Mike (Ward). Those guys were my only crew this weekend, and they busted their tails all weekend to give me a good car. I was able to do my job and we got our third win of the year.
"I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports our team. We couldn't do what we do without this great support."
On a sultry summer weekend Howard Moore and Rains Motorsports invaded Middle Tennessee for a pair of United Sprint Car Series (USCS) programs.
The lid lifted on Friday night at Lexington 104 Speedway with the 12th annual USCS Firecracker 100 Speed Spectacular.
After finishing fifth in his heat race at the 3/8-mile, clay oval, Howard started 13th in the feature. During the course of the feature, he methodically worked his way forward in the field to record a second-place finish behind race winner Dale Howard. Terry Gray, Brent Crews, and Morgan Turpen completed the Top 5.
On Saturday night the action shifted east to Summertown's Thunderhill Raceway Park. It proved to be a great night for the Tennessee racer as he made a clean sweep of the program. Starting the night with a last-lap pass for the lead and the win in the Dash, Howard then won his heat race from the third-starting spot to lock into the pole position for the feature at the high-banked oval.
Moore stormed to the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back en route to the win, which marked his third of the 2021 campaign. He was followed across the finish line by Dale Howard, Terry Gray, Laond Britt and Slater Helt.
Full results from the weekend are available at USCSRacing.com .
Weather dependent the team has a quartet of races scheduled for the upcoming holiday weekend. Action opens on Thursday night with the $2,000-to-win, Hammer Hill Twin Bill at Tracey Clay’s I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Ark.). From there, a trio of USCS Sprint Car events are scheduled with a Friday trip to Old No. 1 Speedway (Harrisburg, Ark.), a Saturday visit to Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Ark.) and a Sunday evening showcase at Johnny Stokes’ Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.).

Finishes Fifth in Firecracker 100 Finale
SHINNSTON, W.Va. (06/28/21) – Brandon Sheppard recorded a $6,000 prelim feature win on Thursday night and a fifth-place finish in Saturday’s finale during Lernerville Speedway’s 15th annual Firecracker 100 weekend. He added an additional Top-5 finish in Friday’s prelim.
His strong performances came behind the wheel of the Rocket1 Racing / Valvoline No. 1 Seubert Calf Ranches/ Durham Racing Engines-powered XR1 Rocket Chassis Super Late Model.

The following night with another $6,000-to-win preliminary feature on the docket, Brandon topped his group in time trials before placing second in his heat race. Starting the A-Main in eighth, Sheppard improved three spots in the 30-lapper to register a fifth-place finish. He trailed Brandon Overton, Michael Norris, Mark Whitener, and Dennis Erb Jr. to the checkers.
With Saturday’s heat race line-ups being determined by preliminary night performances, Sheppard started on the pole before scoring a 10-lap heat race victory, which transferred him to the redraw.

Brian Shirley Double Dips in Hell Tour Victory Lane
Banks Victories at La Salle Speedway and Sycamore Speedway
CHILTON, Wis. (06/28/21) – Mother Nature only permitted two DIRTcar Summer Nationals events to be contested last week, and while she was stingy with the racing opportunities, Brian Shirley was even more stingy with the wins.
The Illinois’ racer picked up wins in both events aboard his Bob Cullen Racing / Thomason Express No. 3s J&J Ventures & Gaming/ Hoker Trucking / XR1 Rocket Chassis / Durham Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Pushing his 2021-victory total to six, Shirley picked up a $5,000 triumph on Wednesday at La Salle Speedway before claiming the $10,000 top prize on Friday evening at Sycamore Speedway.
“It was a tough weather week for the teams and the tour, but we made the most of our opportunities. On Wednesday night at La Salle I didn’t feel too much pressure out front, but on Friday night at Sycamore you can bet I knew (Bobby) Pierce was back there. I felt like I couldn’t shake him, and we’re just lucky that we were able to stay ahead of him,” Shirley noted. “It's huge for my team and all my sponsors and (car owners) Bob and Lisa Cullen and my family to come out here and gain some momentum this week. Hopefully, we can get another win or two this next week.”
On Wednesday afternoon Brian Shirley followed the DIRTcar Summer Nationals to La Salle Speedway (LaSalle, Ill.) for the sixth round of the Hell Tour. In a field of 35 cars, Brian topped the speed charts in time trials before picking up a heat race win. Earning the pole position for the A-Main, Shirley led wire-to-wire in the 40-lapper to register his fifth win of the season and 34th-career series triumph. He finished ahead of Garrett Alberson, Ryan Unzicker, Billy Moyer Jr., and Chris Simpson to pocket $5,000.
After Thursday's event at Spoon River Speedway (Banner, Ill.) was postponed to July 7 by wet weather, Bob Cullen Racing headed to Sycamore Speedway (Maple Park, Ill.) on Friday afternoon. With 28 cars on hand for the seventh round of the Hell Tour, Shirley registered the second-fastest time in qualifying before cruising to a 10-lap heat race victory.
Leading flag-to-flag in the feature, Brian charged to his sixth win of the season, which came over Bobby Pierce, Ashton Winger, Ryan Unzicker, and Jason Feger. He captured $10,000 for his 35th-career Hell Tour victory.
Mother Nature axed both Saturday and Sunday's events at Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.) and Jacksonville Speedway (Jacksonville, Ill.).
Brian climbed to third in the latest Summer Nationals point standings. For complete results, please visit www.DIRTcarSummerNationals.com .
The 2021 edition of the miniseries known as “The Hell Tour,” resumes on Wednesday at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway before rolling into Dirt Oval Route 66 Raceway (Joliet, Ill.) on Thursday, Fayette County Speedway (Brownstown, Ill.) on Friday and Lincoln (Ill.) Speedway on Saturday.

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 28, 2021) - The “Madman” Kerry Madsen has been on a tear aboard the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing No. 14 sprint car, not only keeping the seat warm for three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion and NASCAR Hall of Famer, Tony Stewart, but doing so in an incredible manner, most recently capturing five consecutive top-ten finishes during action across the upper-Midwest, scoring a pair of $10,000 victories in the process, all of which accomplished during World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series competition.
Madsen, driver of the Rush Truck Centers/Advance Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Digital Ally/Sage Fruit/FloRacing/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/Mobil 1/Carquest Auto Parts/J&J Auto Racing/No. 14 sprint car, joined the Greatest Show On Dirt during visits to Huset’s Speedway and Jackson Motorplex over the last seven days, entering The Showdown which featured the $30,000-to-win Huset’s 50 and the $50,000-to-win Jackson Nationals.
After kicking-off the week-long venture with third and eighth-place finishes during Huset’s 50 action on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22 - the eighth-place score occurring during the $30,000 finale - Madsen and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing turned their attention to the Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota, where the three-day Jackson Nationals commenced on Thursday, June 24. Wasting little time becoming acclimated with the state-of-the-art venue, Madsen was quick right out of the gate and opened the event with an impressive 13-spot rally to win on Thursday. Head turning, nonetheless, Madsen climbed from 14th to second in just seven laps, eventually stealing the lead from Logan Schuchart with a turn four slider with four circuits remaining.
The end result was the same for Madsen on Friday, this time charging ahead from sixth to win his second $10,000 prize in 24 hours, doing so with a move around Carson Macedo on lap 13. In an attempt to spoil Madsen’s hard-fought momentum, Mother Nature did her best to crash the $50,000-to-win Jackson finale, but action was ultimately moved to Sunday.
Capping his week of success, Madsen finished fourth in the 35-lap Jackson Nationals blockbuster, fading slightly after starting second on the main event grid. Logan Schuchart was the victor, followed by David Gravel, Brad Sweet, and Madsen.
“This car is just unbelievable,” Kerry Madsen expressed in an interview at Jackson, a 27-time World of Outlaws winner over his career. “The Ford power plant is so good. It’s so much fun to drive. Ricky [Warner] had this thing on rails. I committed to the top and just never lifted.”
An upcoming schedule for Kerry Madsen and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing has yet to be determined. Fans are encouraged to keep alert online, as well as on social media, for continuing updates regarding Madsen’s Tony Stewart Racing schedule.

2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series Championship Standings: Sixth | 5120 points [202 points behind championship leader, Brad Sweet]
BROWNSBURG, Ind. (June 28, 2021) - Despite mechanical issues leading to an early retirement during the $50,000-to-win Jackson Nationals finale at Jackson Motorplex on Sunday, June 27, ten-time World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, opened his recent five-race campaign across the upper-Midwest with championship-worthy results, cashing in for a pair of podiums during Huset’s Speedway’s Huset’s 50 doubleheader on Monday and Tuesday, June 21-22.
After opening Huset’s 50 competition with a runner-up finish during preliminary action on Monday, leading the first nine circuits before giving up the top spot to fellow World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship contender, David Gravel, Schatz returned to the Huset’s highbanks on Tuesday and nearly trumped his runner-up result, only to be outdueled by Brad Sweet and eventual winner, Aaron Reutzel.
Firmly in second with just ten circuits remaining, Schatz did his best to get a run on the World of Outlaws Rookie of the Year contender, but Reutzel prevailed, outsprinting the Fargo, North Dakota-native to the finish; Brad Sweet snuck by Schatz with seven circuits remaining.
Donny Schatz and the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Carquest Auto Parts/Curb Records/Ford Performance/Sage Fruit/Digital Ally/Advance Auto Parts/Rush Truck Centers/Absolute Automation and Security/Hunt Brothers Pizza/J&J Auto Racing/No. 15 sprint car team continued their stretch through the upper-Midwest with the three-day Jackson Nationals at Jackson Motorplex on June 24-26.
Although compelled to settle with a spot outside of the top-ten, Schatz’ most impressive performance of the week occurred during the three-day Jackson Nationals opener when the ten-time Series champ rallied from 23rd to finish 11th in the A-Main, all after finishing third from dead last in the Last Chance Showdown. The team was forced to start last after they resorted to a back up car following a heat race crash.
The following evening, Schatz rallied from 15th to finish 12th, eventually closing out the weekend with the aforementioned “DNF” during the $50,000 Jackson Nationals finale.
Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will continue their 2021 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series campaign with a two-day stay at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin.
Dubbed the Independence Day Spectacular, the two-day visit to Cedar Lake Speedway on Friday and Saturday, July 2-3, will not only award a pair of $10,000 top prizes, but it will activate a big money month for the Greatest Show On Dirt that includes Attica’s Brad Doty Classic, a pair of $175,000-to-win Kings Royals at Eldora Speedway, the $25,000-to-win Silver Cup at Lernerville Speedway, and the annual Summer Nationals at Williams Grove Speedway awarding $20,000.

Sides Returns to Busy Schedule After Being Out of World of Outlaws Action for Seven Weeks
Inside Line Promotions - JACKSON, Minn. (June 28, 2021) - Jason Sides missed nearly seven weeks of action from the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series trail after his racing trailer was damaged during a freeway accident.
Sides and his team repaired the trailer at their shop in Tennessee before rejoining 'The Greatest Show on Dirt' during one of the busiest stretches of the season.
Sides returned on June 17 and competed in seven races during the last 11 days.
"It took me a bit to get back going," he said. "Being off for a couple of months, it felt like Volusia starting the season back over again."
Sides' best run during the recent stretch was a season-best seventh-place showing on Friday night during the second preliminary night of the AGCO Jackson Nationals hosted by Jackson Motorplex.
"I banged the wall going down the front straightaway, which really screwed me up into turn one and I jumped the cushion," he said. "A couple of cars got by me and we fell to ninth. Toward the end I got back going. I slowed down a few laps after getting into the wall trying to figure out if anything was hurt on the car. Once I felt everything was okay we gained a couple of positions back to finish seventh."
The top 10 combined with a 20th-place result during Thursday's event opener put Sides in a good position entering Saturday's finale. The event was postponed one day because of wet weather and Sides finished where he started in both a qualifier - third - and the main event - 13 th - on Sunday.
"If I got off the bottom I got tight from the middle of the track to the cushion," he said. "We got a few spots and lost a few spots."
Next up is the Independence Day Spectacular this Friday and Saturday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis.
