2020 Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Open Wheel Modfied Schedule Released

SOMERSET, KY (December 7, 2019)—Officials from the Brucebilt Performance Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series have released the 2020 schedule of events featuring 17 races across three states at ten race tracks. 2020 will mark the fourth year of the Iron-Man tour.

The tour will open with a non-points “exhibition-style” event on Sunday February 2nd at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. during the 12th Annual Iron-Man Cabin Fever Shake Down event. The event will pay $1,200-to-win and $125-to-start. The tire rule for Boyd’s Speedway will be as follows: Hoosier M30s and M60 along with the American Racer Hard and Extra Hard (M60 & Extra Hard may be used as a right-rear option).

“This will be the biggest season the Open Wheels have seen since we started the tour four years ago,” stated Series Promoter Chris Tilley. “The Open Wheels have grown by leaps and bounds and they continue to grow. We want to thank all of the race tracks and drivers and race fans who have supported the growth of this class,” Tilley went on to say. Over $92,600 will be paid out in nightly prize money this season in addition to a healthy year-end points fund.

“We want to single out and thank Mitch McCarter and 411 Motor Speedway for keeping the Open Wheels alive in East-Tennessee on a weekly basis the last few years so that we can have series events across the region with plenty of race cars, it’s been a vital role for us,” said Tilley again. Over $440,565 will be paid out between the Late Model and Open Wheel Series just in nightly prize money throughout the 2020 season. Said Tilley: “A huge thank you also goes to Brucebilt Performance for again returning as the title sponsor. Bruce Nunnally and his staff have been an avid supporter of Open Wheel racing and this Series. We could not do this without them.”

The opening points event on the tour will be on Friday April 17th at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. during the ‘Spring Showdown” and the series will then return to Ponderosa Speedway on Friday September 18th during “Modified Mayhem” weekend.

Wartburg (Tenn.) Speedway will return to the schedule with two events on Saturday April 25th and Saturday August 22nd.

Crossville (Tenn.) Speedway will return to the schedule for the first time since 2018 for two visits on Friday May 1st and Friday August 14th.

Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway will host two Iron-Man Open Wheel events on Saturday May 2nd and Friday July 3rd.

Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky. returns to the schedule after a year absence with two events, Saturday June 13th for the Finn Watson Memorial and Saturday September 19th for part two of the “Modified Mayhem” weekend.

411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tenn. will host two events on the schedule as Tennessee’s Action Track will host the tour on Saturday July 4th as part of “The Firecracker” event and the tour will also visit 411 for the season finale on Saturday November 28th for “The Leftover” race.

Ray Cook’s Tri-County Race Track in Brasstown, N.C. will host two events on the schedule, Friday April 24th and Friday July 31st.

The series will make a single season visit to Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn. on Saturday August 1st. The tour will also make a single visit to I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, Tenn. on Saturday August 15th.

All events on the tour will pay $1,200-to-win and $125-to-start throughout the season and be 25-lap feature events. The tour champion will receive $2,000 with the top-five in the final year-end points receiving monies from the points fund based on 100 percent of racer attendance as per the rule book stipulates. Former Series champions include: Shon Flanary in 2017 and Clayton Miller in 2018 and 2019.
