A special thanks to everyone who supports this program. It’s going to be a fun year mixing some pavement races in with the dirt.”

The Nature’s Pantry 100 was held on Saturday evening at I-44 Speedway (Lebanon, Missouri). A $2,000 top prize was posted for the Ozark Pro Late Model division. While, Tony qualified eighth, he quickly worked his way to the lead in the 100-lap affair. In fact, he was already out front by lap 18. Once in the lead he cruised to the win, which came over teammate Raymond Merrill. Tim Swearengin, Joe Ross, and Terry Limberopoulos completed the Top-5 finishers.

“On Friday night I felt like we had the race in hand until a late-race restart, and I just didn’t fire well enough and Jason Welshan got by,” Lowe stated. “On Saturday night we didn’t necessarily have the fastest car, but we bided our time and worked into a runner-up finish.

“Despite falling short of getting a win this weekend, this year has started out being one of the best years yet. Starks and Gobrecht Motorsports Capture Runner-Up Result During Season Opener

Inside Line Promotions - GAFFNEY, S.C. (April 8, 2019) - Trey Starks posted the best season-opening result of his sprint car career last Saturday at Cherokee Speedway.

After Friday's USCS Series event at Carolina Speedway in Gastonia, N.C., rained out, Starks and Gobrecht Motorsports ventured to Cherokee Speedway for the weekend finale. He advanced from fourth to second place in a heat race before maneuvering from third to second in the main event.

"It went really well," he said. "I was really comfortable in the car. It was my longest offseason. I wasn't sure how quick I'd react, but we picked up right where we left off last year. Everything was comfortable and the car was fast. I was disappointed to not get the win, but it was a great night.

"I got to second real quick and settled in pretty good. Johnny (Bridges) was setting a good pace. I knew that we were faster and needed a little time to get by him, but it seemed like every five laps we'd have a caution. It'd take four laps to get to his bumper after each restart and every time we'd run a few laps we'd have a caution. Our longest run was with seven laps to go. We were at his bumper at the checkered flag and just needed one more lap."

Starks finished second by less than one tenth of a second.

"I wanted to get in traffic, but it didn't play out that way," he said. "Sometimes that's how races go. You take what you can get from it."

Starks shifts his focus to the Knoxville Raceway season opener this Saturday. The team will take part in Friday's practice night at the half-mile oval in Knoxville, Iowa, prior to Saturday's competition.

"I'm really excited to race regularly at Knoxville this year," he said. "It will be a great challenge. Hopefully we can get off to a strong start with a good result on Saturday."

Devin [Dixon] drove a great race, and I congratulate him on the win. I sure hate running second, but if you’re going to do it, there’s now shame in it coming to a guy like Devin.”

Sweetheart Race at 411 Motor Speedway Up Next

Loudon, Tennessee (04/08/19) – The past month has been a trying time for Cory Hedgecock and his racing program. From mechanical failures to crashes Cory and his team have battled it all. On Saturday night, Hedgecock was able to overcome the recent trend of adversity by scoring the $2,500 victory with the United Championship Racing Alliance (UCRA).

The victory marked his second of 2019, and first since early February in his Cushman #23 K&P Used Cars/ Five Star Hyundai/ XR1 Rocket Chassis/ Eagle Racing Engine entry.

“It was starting to feel like we were never going to get that monkey off our back. Honestly, even though it ended well, we started the night with struggles on Saturday night with a flat tire in qualifying,” Hedgecock noted. “This team didn’t give up though, and we bounced back to get the win. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come. Thanks to my family, my team, my sponsors and all of my fans for not giving up on me.”

On Saturday night Cory hopped behind the wheel of his Crate Late Model entry for the United Championship Racing Alliance (UCRA) sanctioned program at I-75 Raceway (Sweetwater, Tennessee). With 26 cars on hand for the Spring-Loaded 40, Hedgecock suffered a flat tire in qualifying, which left him starting ninth in his heat race.

A ninth-to-second run in heat race action locked him into the sixth-starting spot for the main event. Reeling in his third-straight, Spring-Loaded 40 victory, Cory took the lead on lap 31 and then outran Jesse Lowe in the closing laps of the 40-lapper. The victory marked his second of the season and rewarded the Tennessee driver with a $2,500 payday. Trevor Sise, Michael Courtney, and Rod Carroll trailed the leaders to the checkers.

Cory opened his weekend in Super Late Model action on Thursday night at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee), where he finished 18th in the 40-lap, ULTIMATE Series feature. Friday night found Hedgecock finishing 21st with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at 411 Motor Speedway.

Thursday night saw Donald McIntosh in action at Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tennessee), where he was behind the wheel of the Blount Excavating No. 7 Super Late Model entry for the Ultimate Southeast Series sanctioned Spring Thaw.

With 23 cars on hand, McIntosh locked his spot into the opening night feature with a fourth-place finish in his heat race. Coming one spot shy of a Top-5 finish, Donald improved four positions to place sixth.

The following night, McIntosh traveled to 411 Motor Speedway (Seymour, Tennessee) for the Tennessee’s Action Track 50. In a field of 29 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries, McIntosh laid down the fastest time in his qualifying group before placing second in his heat behind Dale McDowell.

Earning the sixth-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main, Donald gained four spots to reel in a runner-up finish behind Ross Bailes with Jimmy Owens, Jonathan Davenport, and Dale McDowell completing the Top-5 finishers. The finish marked the best of his career with the LOLMDS.

2019 World of Outlaws Championship Standings: 2nd - 1542 points (four points behind Brad Sweet)

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (April 8, 2019) - Continuing a trend of consistency that has now surpassed everyone on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series trail, earning 11 top-ten finishes in 11 Series starts, Fargo, North Dakota’s Donny Schatz left Arizona with back-to-back fourth place finishes during main event competition, the second being the result of a hard charge from row seven.

Schatz, driver of the Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing/Rush Truck Centers/Ford Performance/Curb Records/Sage Fruit/Absolute Automation & Security/No. 15 sprint car, kicked off his weekend with a visit to USA Raceway near Tucson on Friday, April 5. A narrow, but ultra-fast racing surface made passing a premium, thus making it difficult for Schatz to recover after fading to fourth from the pole position during the initial start. Despite countless attempts to rebound, fourth is where Schatz stayed. Although not ending his evening on top, Schatz was near-flawless during preliminary competition, ultimately earning victories during his respective heat race and the evening’s dash.

Despite the end-result being identical, Schatz’ performance at Arizona Speedway on Saturday, April 6, to attain the fourth place finish was more than impressive, rallying from the inside of row seven to do so. In addition, Schatz earned the evening’s Hard Charger Award for advancing the most positions during feature competition.

“We experienced a little bit of everything this weekend in Arizona. Friday’s result was a little tough to swallow considering we started on the pole, but it is what it is,” Donny Schatz expressed. “It was a fun stretch on the West Coast, but I think we’re ready to head back east.”

Up next on the schedule, Donny Schatz and Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing will visit Devil’s Bowl Speedway near Mesquite, Texas, on Friday and Saturday, April 12 & 13. Schatz will enter Texas Outlaw Nationals weekend second in the current World of Outlaws championship standings, trailing Brad Sweet by a mere-four markers.

Schatz is the defending Texas Outlaw Nationals finale winner at Devil’s Bowl Speedway, scoring the $20,000 payday from the inside of row three on Saturday, April 28, 2018.

It's All 'Gravy' for Sides Motorsports During World of Outlaws Stop in Arizona

Inside Line Promotions - QUEEN CREEK, Ariz. (April 8, 2019) - Sides Motorsports added a little 'Gravy' to its plate last weekend.

Crew member Stephen Fairfield, who earned the nickname 'Gravy' thanks to a special moment during a dinner outing last year, piloted a second Sides Motorsports entry on Friday at USA Raceway in Tucson, Ariz., during the Wildcat Shootout.

"Some of the tracks we go to we have low car counts so someone needs to bring down a backup car to make sure we're in the three-heat format," Jason Sides said. "We did that and had him drive it on Friday. It was his first time starting a sprint car."

While Sides and Fairfield both ended the night early in the main event, the internet was won as everyone hopped on the 'Gravy' boat.

The team went back to one car the ensuing night at Arizona Speedway during the Arizona Desert Shootout. Sides qualified 15th quickest, placed sixth in a heat race and advanced two positions to end 16 th in the main event.

"The race track was kind of narrow and you couldn't do a lot of passing, but the bottom was decent," he said. "We were a little tight the first few laps and then it got going good. The leaders got to me. I stayed on the bottom and all of the sudden the bottom came to us. We pulled away from Sheldon (Haudenschild) and passed a couple of cars. The car got better toward the end of the night and we made some gains."

This week's challenge is the Texas Outlaw Nationals on Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas.

"We've had some really good runs there," Sides said. "We're definitely looking forward to getting back toward the Midwest and to some tracks where we've had some better runs on."

Swindell and Thone Motorsports Kicking Off Season This Weekend in Texas With World of Outlaws

Inside Line Promotions - GERMANTOWN, Tenn. (April 8, 2019) - It's been a busy offseason for Sammy Swindell, who built two new race cars for Thone Motorsports.

The team is slated to kick off its 2019 campaign this Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, during the Texas Outlaw Nationals with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series.

"We built two new Maxim cars and made some changes with the trailer with how things are laid out," Swindell said. "It was putting a whole lot of stuff together to be organized the way I've done it in the past.

"It's pretty much the same car I ran for the Zimbardi's in New York. At the All Star shows we didn't finish outside the top three and won about half the races I've run in so I have an idea where to start. It's just like the car Kevin (Swindell) runs so he can give me some feedback, too, and I can help him so it'll make it better for both of us."

Swindell noted that the team anticipates a schedule of 40-to-50 races - all in the 410ci winged sprint car division - beginning this weekend at the half-mile Texas oval. Swindell has a dozen World of Outlaws wins at the track, where he's been victorious in the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s.

"It definitely makes it easier to start there," he said. "I've got a lot of laps there and won a lot of races there in the 360 and the 410 stuff. There's a couple of things that make the track different. It's more like a D shape than an oval. Some people get it and some people don't. It's unique in itself. Having the experience and laps will definitely help."
