Hafertepe, Schatz, England & Veal Win For J&J Auto Racing

McKENZIE, Tenn. (March 22, 2017) – Sam Hafertepe, Jr., Jamie Veal, Jonas England and Donny Schatz brought the Spring Sprint Car season in like a lion over the weekend, as between the group they posted four victories, an event sweep and a championship for J&J Auto Racing. Hafertepe kicked off the weekend with a win in preliminary night action of the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series (ASCS) Devil’s Bowl Spring Nationals in Mesquite, Texas, on Friday, March 17. Lining up from the inside of row two for the event final on Saturday, March 18, Hafertepe had to battle back from a mishap at the start of the event to earn the triumph. But battle the Lonestar state native did, driving through the field to claim his second straight victory behind the wheel of the No. 15h Keith Dobbs owned machine.

Schatz continued his hot streak behind the wheel of the No. 15 Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing entry, taking his sixth win of the season at Thunderbowl Raceway in Tulare, Calif., on Sat., March 18, against the World of Outlaws (WoO) Craftsman Sprint Car Series. Working his way back up to near the front of the field after falling back from his third starting position, Schatz bided his time before making the pass for the lead with only two laps remaining to take the checkered flag. Schatz has nine victories thus far in 2017, six in WoO completion and three in the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions (ASCoC) Series.

Veal not only scored the win on Sat., March 18, at Perth (AUS) Motorplex but he won the war as the Warrnambool native capture his first career Di Candilo Steel City Australian 360ci Sprintcar Championship event. Setting quick time, winning his heat race and starting from the pole for the Feature event, Veal set sail without challenge to take the top spot in the 40-lap race in the Monte Motorsports J&J Auto Racing entry.

England won two of three feature events at Stratford Speedway in New Plymouth, NZ, on March 18 to wrap up the North Island Modified Championship. Coming into Saturday’s event, England only needed to finish in the top half of the field to clinch the title. His two victories propelled him to a 36 point triumph in the series’ final point standings.
